  1. This looks like a good show on paper but its been so long since they've done a HIAC match without interference bs.
  2. Bryan was as big of a ratings and buyrates draw as anybody else in 2013-14. Summerslam 2013 and WM30 did really good numbers, and his Raw segments were often the highest rated during this time period. It's just unfortunate that he got injured early in his WWE champion run.
  3. It something the WWE wouldn't consider, but would a Reigns and Ambrose tag title run work right now? Let them run through Show/Kane, New Day and Ascencion to get a title shot. Give them long workrate matches with Cesaro/Kidd, Usos and Lucha Dragons so Reigns can get some smark cred and Ambrose can have focus and win matches again. Feud them with Sheamus/Barrett and Wyatt/Harper. Hell, just call them the Shield again. Then they can drop the titles to an upcoming team like Balor/Itami and be the final 2 in the Rumble, with Reigns winning. Reigns stays away from the world title picture for 10 months and a rematch with Brock or Rollins is completely fresh.
  4. Cesaro isn't a great promo but he is charismatic and had a great connection with the crowd throughout the first 3 months of the year, before they paired him with Heyman. If Vince thinks he lacks charisma and doesn't connect with crowds then maybe he didn't watch Wrestlemania this year.
  5. Nakamura generally does a lot better in CMLL and the British indys than Tanahashi, from what I've seen. More over and also has better matches.
  6. Tier 3 AJ Styles vs Kyle O Reilly ROH 9/13/14 Briscoes vs Young Bucks ROH 9/13/14 Randy Orton vs Chris Jericho WWE 9/21/14 Kushida vs Taguchi NJPW 9/21/14 Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Katsuyori Shibata NJPW9/21/14 Rhodes Brothers vs Usos WWE 9/27/14
  7. Fantastic list. I would just add the Eddie Kingston match from Chikara in 2010, a 2011 Superstars match against Regal and the gauntlet against the Wyatts in 2013 that had a really great portion vs Harper.
  8. Bryan had only been a main event ace for a couple months before he got injured, but you could take out him and Punk and add Austin Aries, Sami Callihan and Sheamus.
  9. When the PTP were together I always thought Darren was the better worker. They had some really good C-Show matches with the Usos in which Darren came off like the better FIP and the better hot tag guy too. Titus is obviously more charismatic and has gotten better now but I can't place him as one of the best in the world because there are plenty of guys in WWE who even have a better track record of short matches than him - Sheamus, Cesaro, Goldust, Bryan, Usos, Big Show, Henry. I do hope he gets to be more than a 2 minute comedy match guy on Raw though.
  10. He hasn't always been portrayed as an underdog in his WWE run. There's the heel run in 2012 and even in 2013-14 he's had a lot of matches where he goes on long stretches of offense - the Bray Wyatt match at Royal Rumble, TV matches with Randy Orton and at Summerslam where he was just going after Cena's arm and KO'd him decisively. There was a Rollins match on Smackdown in which Bryan just ran through his moveset and demolished Seth in like 7 minutes. Compared to most Cena or Rey matches, Bryan definitely tends to get more offense in.
  11. Unfortunately Nakamura was quite boring throughout the 2000s. He's had MOTYCs in the last couple of years but even now he can be hit or miss. The Ishii match from the G1 was dissapointing.

    Kurt Angle

Probably the dumbest thing I've seen on an Angle match was Shane McMahon one-upping him on the mat in their street fight, but that might not have been Angle's idea. But I always liked him to varying degrees in 2000-06 so I will consider him.

    Mark Henry

Henry is very very good at the little things, is a great seller and his charisma adds a lot to his matches. I agree that simply having a lot of great long matches isn't the most important criteria, but there are a bunch of wrestlers nominated that do the things Henry does just as well and they do have a longer list of great matches. Let's see how his next 1.5 years play out. I do feel like he's right up there with OMG and Boss Man though.
  14. The last four years really hurt his case and I'm not sure if his 2000-03 and 2008-09 were that great that he warrants serious top 100 all-time consideration.

    CM Punk

A lot of his indie stuff hasn't aged well, but I'm still a fan of the series with Joe. I agree that he's had plenty of great matches and feuds in WWE to warrant a spot. What were his best two year periods, 2009-10 or 2011-12?
  16. He's been fantastic in the last couple of years but I think the earliest Ishii match I've seen was from 2011. What are some of his best pre-New Japan resurgence matches?

    Stan Hansen

The Andre match in New Japan and then his matches with Terry Funk in All Japan are probably a good starting point. There's one Hansen/Funk match from AJ that's probably my favorite brawl of all time.

    Current WWE

Yeah it's unfair to criticize Neville for that match. He was only in there for a minute or two. But going forward I don't know how he'll fare on the main roster because he hasn't adapted to the WWE style very well. He seems like a guy who should only have short spotfests unless he's up against a Cesaro or a Sheamus, but they'll probably have him work from underneath a lot.
  19. I've been watching 80's NJPW lately and yeah Hoshino's really good. Don't know how he's rated traditionally but he was always a midcarder right?
  20. Those matches won't influence a generation of wrestlers though. What happens in the ring, IMO, is only one part of what makes a match great. This goes back to the WWE's incredibly ability to make its history matter (when it wants to, which it usually doesn't for NXT). And while I'll readily admit I haven't seen the match, I honestly have a hard time believing that a flabby, unmotivated Kassius Ohno was better than Steamboat or Macho Man at anything on any day. I get that these ROH indy guys have a following on the internet, but that seems like a pretty big stretch. Actually Regal and the kinds of matches he works have influenced a lot of current WWE wrestlers, like Daniel Bryan, Ambrose and Cesaro. Sheamus and Barrett too to an extent.
  21. I prefer all 4 of his matches with Ambrose, Hero and Cesaro to Savage /Steamboat but that's probably just me.
  22. It will be interesting to see how Daniel Bryan wrestles from here on. With his neck and shoulder problems his matches could become more ground-based with more matwork. If that does happen and he stays super over without doing the dives (which I think he will) maybe it will bring about a change.
  23. I think this sums it up for me. I am not asking for every season to be WM Season. That's impossible. Its not be real. WWE should look at its resources during the 'down time' and just have some fun. If Jan-Apr is the hot months then there should be no reason for trying to find a new star during the cooling down months. Toss everyone out there. Tyson Kidd, Sami Zayn, Del Sol, etc. Put them on the main show in random matches. Give me a random ass 5 on 5 as the main event on Raw on night. Have the tag team champions close Smackdown with a ladder match. Just have some fun. They actually did a lot of this last fall. The crazy Shield vs Daniel Bryan+gang of jobbers elimination match, a Daniel Bryan gauntlet and a No-DQ Shield/Rhodes Bros match for the tag titles all main evented Raw. There was also a whole hour of back-to-back tag team matches as the main event of a Smackdown episode. The TV was pretty fun to watch for a couple of months there. But the PPVs were badly booked with a lot of filler matches and terrible finishes in the main events.
  24. Pretty much only WWE and NJPW. Have to watch more Lucha and Indies. 1st Tier: John Cena vs CM Punk 7/17/11 Blue Panther vs Negro Casas 1/27/12 Brock Lesnar vs John Cena 4/30/12 John Cena vs CM Punk 2/25/13 Shinsuke Nakamura vs Kota Ibushi 8/4/13 CM Punk vs Brock Lesnar 8/18/13 John Cena vs Daniel Bryan 8/18/13 Shield vs Wyatt Family 2/24/14 AJ Styles vs Minoru Suzuki 8/1/14 2nd Tier: Rey Mysterio vs CM Punk 2/12/10 Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker 3/28/10 Chris Hero vs Akira Tozawa 9/6/10 Randy Orton vs Christian 5/22/11 Chris Hero vs Cesaro 7/23/11 John Cena vs CM Punk 8/14/11 Mark Henry vs Daniel Bryan 11/29/11 Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan 4/30/12 CM Punk vs Daniel Bryan 5/21/12 Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Kazuchika Okada 6/16/12 Willam Regal vs Dean Ambrose 7/15/12 Shield vs Daniel Bryan/Kane/Ryback 12/16/12 John Cena vs CM Punk 9/16/12 Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Minoru Suzuki 10/8/12 Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Kazuchika Okada 4/7/13 William Regal vs Chris Hero 4/10/13 Tomohiro Ishii vs Katsuyori Shibata 8/4/13 Cesaro vs Zayn 8/21/13 Roman Reigns/Seth Rollins vs Goldust/Cody Rhodes 10/14/13 Cesaro vs William Regal 12/25/13 Daniel Bryan vs Bray Wyatt 1/26/14 Cesaro vs John Cena 2/17/14 Cesaro vs Sami Zayn 2/27/14 Shield vs Wyatt Family 3/3/14 Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Shinsuke Nakamura 4/6/14 Shueld vs Evolution 5/4/14 Tomohiro Ishii vs Kota Ibushi 5/25/14 Josn Cena vs Bray Wyatt 6/1/14 Tomohiro Ishii vs Tomaki Honma 7/26/14 Rush vs Negro Casas 8/1/14 Katsuyori Shibata vs Tomoaki Honma 8/3/14 Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins 8/18/14 I'm probably missing a good deal of matches that would qualify as 2nd Tier. 3rd Tier would take too much time to put together.
