Last few minutes. Pretty heatless at first with Knobs playing FIP, but they do get into it. Interesting how pre-ladder match Shawn was a heel who was much more about feeding comebacks for his opponent and making the other guy look good. Tatanka pins Shawn to set up Wrestlemania.

I like how Sags walks right past Shawn out of the ring instead of helping his teammate, Tanaka reverses and gets the pin anyway. Nothing much here, but decent action for a few minutes.

I just really like seeing the Manhattan Center. Tatanka reverses Michaels Tear Drop suplex for the win. I don’t think I’ve seen Michael actually hit that move on anyone from this era and am only familiar with it from the video games at the time.

Better action than one might expect, though Tatanka is really only good for short bursts. Good, well-done finish to continue the story of Tatanka having Michaels' number.

Tatanka turns a backdrop suplex into a sunset flip for the pin on HBK.  Pretty action filled finishing stretch.

Ho hum six man which sadly makes it better than most of the stuff on the first half of the year on Raw. Tatanka picks up a victory to stay undefeated and gain momentum vs. Shawn at Mania.

Saw this not too long ago as part of a viewing project on the Network I'm doing in my spare time. Could be wrong here, but I think the only real notable thing of this match is the debut of Shawn's (non-Sherri) music that he would use for the rest of his career aside from the DX theme.

First time I remember hearing it was on one of the syndicated shows right after the Royal Rumble.

I think this might have been more effective as a singles bout between Tatanka and Shawn. The Nasties were past their WWF prime, and the Destruction Crew/Beverlys never had a prime to start with.

Just to be clear: Bloom is Blake and Enos is Beau. Or is it the other way? Who cares regardless?

Vince was pretty good right up until the end, when he still insisted that Tatanka got a pin on Shawn with the top-rope chop more than ten seconds after Shawn kicked out. Savage had to save him by pointing out the obvious. Between that and refusing to call the sunset flip finish ("WHATTA MANEUVER! WHATTA MANEUVER!") all the good work he'd done up until then (a nice dissertation on the resilience of the WWF athlete, for example) was ruined. Why couldn't they have just put JR on Raw right out of the box?

Bartlett wounded bored out of his skull: "I guess there are too many men in the ring." He's out of his league in a place where he doesn't want to be, and he knows it. I did like his response to Vince when Vince suggested that Knobbs might tag him: "I'd give him a stern talking-to." He probably would, too!

Were the Nasties and the DC/Bevs scheduled for a long-term program and/or a match at Mania IX?  I know they didn't actually get in the ring at Mania, but the match could have been scheduled to take place and scrapped before the final card was set.

I didn't know that. It was probably on the bump he took into the post.

Thanks, AJ!
