You get so used to Togo working heel that it's easy to forget how much he resembles Super Astro in both build and agility. His high flying is always impactful but there is a lot of grace as well and when he's involved in beating down babyfaces you don't really get to admire that. Delfin is a good smarmy heel too.

This is a very graceful match, and all the highspots look wonderful. Really great final stretch, which was desperate, with Sato doing an incredible dive to the floor, followed by a series of big bombs and close calls. Very good, and funny to hear Pomp and Circumstance in the post-match.

Aside from the big dives and hot near falls at the end I thought this was a really well put together match from start to finish. It's mask vs mask and they di a great job of giving it that big match feel. Loved watching everyone at ringside too, especially down the line when it looked like Sato this _ close to pulling out the win so Sasuke & crew made sure to grab hold of Delphin's cronies and prevent any outside interferance. In such a stacked year this isn't a MOTYC but it's just a notch below that lvl, something that would be in my own top 100 for 93.

Hard to believe Togo had only been wrestling for 2 & 1/2 years at this point

I love Togo, so it was good to see him in a big singles match from early in his career. There was a lot of really cool looking stuff, highlighted by Togo's dive where he jumped to the turnbuckle in one motion and then flew waaay out onto the floor. The chubby athleticism was in full effect. That said, despite Delphin's dickishness, this suffered from the lack of emotion that renders Japanese wager matches disappointing compared to their Mexican peers.

Losing the mask was good for Togo. His running climb up the turnbuckle into a flipping senton to the outside is a great looking move. So smooth. Sasuke and company outside are doing their best to keep the other wrestlings away from the ring. But they are caught up just as much as fans with cheering for each pin attempt by Sato. Great way to make the match feel important.

I wouldn't say there's a ton of substance to this, but that can be overlooked when the moves are so well-done. Sato does some gorgeous dives here as well as some high-impact bombs, and Delfin sort of turns quasi-babyface with some really gutsy kickouts down the stretch. There is a sense of struggle that comes across here, of two guys competing to win rather than two guys reciting choreography, and that's always appreciated in these juniors matches. Delfin's bridging German suplex to win is particularly gorgeous-looking.

Super Delphin vs Sato - M-Pro 12/10/93 Mask vs Mask Match

Beautiful wrestling from Delphin & Sato here. Sato is just so fluid in the ring. The chain wrestling is really wonderful to watch in this. After the sort of mini-Delphin control with the single leg crab, Sato's armdrag is just wonderful and graceful. His mid-match high impact moves are breath-taking, DDT, backdrop driver and powerbomb. The first 2/3rds of this match really suffers from lack of structure and struggle. It feels very much an exhibition. Just two guys doing moves, very pretty moves. Delphin no sold a cross armbreaker, which is a big no-no in my book.

The last 1/3rd of this is very dramatic and awesome. Once Delphin hits the dive to the outside, they both turn this on. I loved Delphin having to block Sato's punches and punch him to hit a DDT. Then Sato starts snapping off hope moves from Delphin's offense. Struggle, earning it! This is what I am talking about. Sato hits this amazing, sublime dive. Just watch it. I cant describe the beauty of this dive. The tension is off the charts with Sasuke holding back Delphin's manager as Sato's rattles off a bunch of awesome bombs down the stretch. His powerslam is awesome! Loved the senton. The missed senton was a great nearfall for Delphin! Delphin hitting a German Suplex into a back bridge rollup was impressive win! Sato is revealed to be DICK TOGO!!!

Loved the finishing stretch of this, really turned up the drama and both guys felt like they wanted it. Definitely lacking hate and where was Delphin's heelishness could have been helpful in this match. An exhibition leads way to a hot, dramatic home stretch. ***1/2

I liked the athleticism from both men here, although I'm surprised that they gave a heel like Delphin such a showcase, and that includes such a spectacular move to get the win.

I really don't remember much from the match, even though I only just watched it a few hours ago. Maybe if I'd known a bit more of the context it would have made more of an impression, but it's difficult to care about a promotion and wrestlers that you've only seen a few times here and there.

Enjoyed this match for what it was and it feels like a significant one in the development of Togo. Him and Delphin will be married to each other for years to come so it was nice to see them have this match to kind of set things off for their lifelong feud. Togo's dives looked great as always. ***1/ 2
