Cornette introduces a promo sent in from Dick Murdoch. Murdoch is outside shirtless in the snow drinking beer and giving ... interesting ... history lessons on The Alamo and being flanked by two women.

They go to a taped promo from Bullet explaining that if he beats Murdoch at Christmas Chaos, not only does he have to give Bullet $5,000, but Cornette also has to shave his head. Cornette is beside himself.

The mysterious Bullet, who may or may not be the banned Bob Armstrong, will be putting his mask on the line against Cornette's newest charge Dick Murdoch. All Cornette has to put up is $5,000.

Dick is hot, despite being shirtless in the Colorado snow swilling Coors Light. He informs us that all the people who died in the Alamo were in fact gutless cowards from Tennessee. This is a riot.

Bob Caudle reveals there's another stipulation for the Christmas Chaos show in Knoxville: Cornette is putting up $5,000 AND his hair! Holy shit, there HAS to be a way to weasel out of this, isn't there?

Jim Cornette’s got some comments from Dick Murdoch that he wants to play which he has sent in all the way from Colorado. Murdoch is sat outside drinking a Coors Light in the middle of a snow storm. He’s got two Texas ladies for company and has his shirt off (although it is still too hot for him!). Mama Cornette is paying him a lot of money to come out there, take that mask off and get Bob Armstrong suspended for life. He’s not going to do that, he’s going to torture him, brake bones and hurt him. He tells Armstrong to remember when they wrestled at the Orlando Sports Center all those years ago and he ruined his career; well he’s going to do it again in Tennessee. Mama Cornette is sending a limousine to pick them up, is flying them first class, champagne on ice and when they get there the beer will be flowing. It’s going to be pandemonium and mayhem because like that big, fat partner he used to have would say ‘it’s going to get funky like a monkey in Knoxville, TN’.

Back in the studio and Bob Caudle says that while it may be ‘$5,000 vs the mask’ in most of the cities on the tour, that’s not the case Christmas night in Knoxville. Cornette is a bit taken aback by this and Caudle says they have a taped interview from The Bullet which will explain everything.

The Bullet says it is either put up or shut up for him this Christmas. Jim Cornette has bought in Dick Murdoch who’s a big, bad man from Texas, but on Christmas night in Knoxville it’s not just the money they’re talking about. On Christmas night, besides the money, if he beats Dick Murdoch not only does Jim Cornette have to give him $5,000, but he also has to shave his head in the middle of the ring. They return to the studio and Cornette calls Dutch over to check the contract. He’s panicking and is not happy one bit, before asking Dutch if he’s got a lawyer in town? They can’t do this to him! How will everyone like it if he’s bald? Which to no surprise elicits a sizeable cheer from the audience.

So The Bullet being unmasked and banned from Smoky Mountain Wrestling against Jim Cornette getting his head shaved? I have a feeling that this stipulation won’t be adhered to or they will worm their way out of it somehow. I agree with El-P that I've not enjoyed The Bullet stuff either, primarily in the way that he was introduced and there was no mystery, no intrigue it was just blatant from the off it was Armstrong (Armstrong is doing in an interview after visiting with the Board of Directors, leaves through a door, a matter of seconds later comes back out that door in exactly the same clothes and wearing a mask that doesn't conceal much). There was no suspension of disbelief whatsover and it just makes a mockery of things.

I remember watching some of this on Will's SMW set, and there wasn't supposed to be any suspension of disbelief. We were supposed to know that it was Bullet Bob all along. The question was: Could Corny get the mask off and provide visual proof that it was him, or would Bullet Bob drive Corny around the bend first by beating his guys and denying him the opportunity to supply that proof?

That said, I don't like the match talked about on this promo, because there's no way in the world that either stipulation can be fulfilled. We all know perfectly well that Corny isn't going to stand for having his head shaved (as indeed he didn't), and we also know that the Bullet's not going anywhere. We also know that Murdoch didn't take a haircut in Corny's place, which would have been a decent substitute.

So how did they get out of it without killing Knoxville as a town? I'm honestly not sure; Graham's site (which has some SMW results) says that Murdoch pinned Bullet Bob, which means that Bullet Bob should have been unmasked and banned for life. But we know they never even teased that, much less followed through on it. I guess Bullet Bob got out of it someway, probably by beating the hell out of Corny.

Knowing that takes the shine off of this promo completely, despite great performances from both wrestlers and Corny himself. I especially liked Murdoch quoting Dusty, of all people. Unfortunately, when all of that ultimately leads to nothing, what's the difference how good the promos were? More importantly, how did a welcher like Corny stay in business for almost another two years?

The promo from Murdoch in the snow shirtless and drinking beer was great. What a crazy man. Bullet's promo was for angle development purposes but it does seem like a lofty stipulation that you know they are going to have to weasel out of one way or another.
