His toupee would have been so much easier to ignore if he hadn't insisted on wearing headgear to make sure it didn't fall off, thus making it all the more obvious. There was one post match interview on one of these shows where Tom Prichard's hair is clearly drenched in sweat and Stan Lane's hair is totally dry that really drove home the point of, "Stan Lane's hair is not real."

Watching the TV set as opposed to the yearbook, I'm not sure which of the two Bodies and Cornette interviews from the episode this is relating to. My guess is the first one (as opposed to the one post match after defeating Tim Horner and Robert Gibson), and the only notes I made were them talking about how they didn't win these tag belts by being nice guys. So yeah.

Not bad for a generic promo. I wonder how many current fans knew about the MGM slogan that Corny referenced. My guess is not many.

Not to nitpick, but Corny's recycling lines he used for the MX, such as "Every mother's nightmare and every schoolgirl's dream". Come to think of it, that's a common line when pretty boy wrestlers are the subject of promos, particularly in Southern promotions.

I'm beginning to think that Stan's toupee might have been a deliberate attempt to get more heat on himself; I know for a fact that the headgear (which we haven't seen yet) was. No matter how hard a guy beats on him, there won't be a hair out of place, and he'll still look as pretty as ever. Even if Stan was simply being vain, the piece ended up as a heat-getter anyway, especially on this board!

Maybe the toupee was there as a kind of different thing in a very similar (but always fun) act that had been going on a long time.  These promos are all so good it's hard to pick out this one from most of them.  I'd say the one where they trashed Beckley, West Virginia was the only one that really stands out in terms of content.  Not that they aren't really good and they probably contributed to the company's success (or what they had), just they tend to be pretty samey.
