Loss
Great promo vowing revenge, which I'm able to focus on most of the time because Lane and his toupee aren't on camera for a lot of it.
Tim Evans
Nice to see Cornette do a serious promo. Tom says they are getting record deal offers and COMMERCIALS.
shoe
Cornette brings the goods here. We really do miss managers in today's product.
El-P
Money promo from Cornette here. This is what he means by "wrestling the way it used to be". Serious stuff there. Love it.
Kevin Ridge
It was fun how the Bodies were introduced in SMW but good to see things getting serious as Cornette delivers.
WingedEagle
Promo about the Fantastics bloodying them up and being violent. Fantastics used a lead pipe through the car, and Cornette won't say that the Bodies will kill them, but they're coming back and won't let Fantastics do it to them first. Better than a lot of SMW thus far as it looks like they'd find a groove at the close of summer heading into the fall and '93.
PeteF3
Cornette and Prichard try to come as close to saying that someone is literally going to die in this feud as they possibly can. Great, serious promo that draws tremendous heat.
MikeCampbell
Cornette and his boys bring the goods on the mic. After so many goofy and funny promos from Jim and the Bodies, this is a refreshing change.
GSR
Prior to this segment airing on the TV show, they aired 'raw footage' of a wild and crazy backstage brawl between the Bodies, Cornette and the Fantastics from a spot show (this was also the first time we got to see Stanfield's almost amateur wrestling like headgear to keep his wig in place). Awesome Down and Dirty episode with Prichard and Cornette bringing the goods. Dutch considers the actions of the Fantastics despicable in the brawl and thinks that they should be locked up. Prichard says that in professional wrestling you may come across some pretty despicable people, you may even come across some criminal elements, and the Fulton's are the exact criminal element he's talking about. Look at his face (he's sporting a plaster above his eye), look at his head, you've seen the tape and saw the criminal activity that took place. He goes on to say that not only are they the SMW tag team champions, but they've had lots of offers from all over the country, offers to do commercials in Hollywood, record deals and not only are the Fantastics trying to run them out of wrestling, but they're trying to keep them from their other interests too. Cornette says that when he saw the lead pipe coming through the car back window shield they realised that the Fulton's aren't talking about taking the titles anymore, aren't talking about beating them up anymore, but are talking about doing serious damage to them. They've given them the choice of letting the Fantastics try to do that again to them and possibly succeed, or do they prevent them by doing it to them first? Give us the choice of us or you, and you ain't going to make it. Whatever we have to do we'll do it, however far we have to go, we aren't playing around no more, we can't afford to. It's not wrestling no more, it's life or death! Best promo of the year in SMW so far. Lane didn't say a thing, but Prichard and Cornette were off the charts here (to the point you can clearly see Cornette had worked up a sweat). Incredibly, money drawing stuff. garretta
This may have been Corny's first chance to cut a dead-serious promo ever, and I do mean ever. His character everywhere else he's been was supposed to be less than manly and less than sharp, easily fooled and physically taken advantage of. We'll see some of that in SMW as time goes on, but for now Corny is about as angry as he's ever been, and he doesn't mince words. The best part is, the crowd doesn't care; even if that brawl happened exactly the way he and the Bodies say it did, they want to see the Fultons put all three of them in the hospital, never to return. They cheer Dr. Tom's injured eye, and they'd probably throw a happy fit if Corny had a chair broken over his head or something similar. So we have an environment where the Bodies are openly saying that they'll try to hurt the Fultons and end their careers, which is rarer than one might think in wrestling. I just hope that the matches live up to the hype, because Corny's got the customers wanting serious carnage and plenty of it. Interesting that Lane not only never says a word, but never even appears on camera. Could it be that Corny, like a lot of people here on the board, thought that Stan's hairpiece looked so goofy that it would take away from the promo, and that if the piece didn't the headgear would? And if that's true, why did Stan insist on wearing the headgear in the first place? It sounds almost like he knew his career was winding down and he was thinking more about his life and image outside the ring than being taken seriously inside it. I liked that Dutch did this interview instead of Bob. As much as I like him, sometimes he )like every other babyface announcer) shakes his head or rolls his eyes in an effort to tell the viewers not to take the heel's bullshit seriously. We didn't need that here; Corny and Dr. Tom needed to draw every possible bit of heat from this situation and make sure that everyone in the building believed that the Fultons were in serious trouble. To that end, I could have done without Dr. Tom talking about commercials and record deals. There's certainly a time and a place to do that, but not in this particular promo. This has nothing to do with what we saw, but why isn't Dutch carrying Shoo Baby, or at least hanging it over the post, while he does Down and Dirty? It could be his answer to Ace Orton! dawho5
Loved this promo, probably my favorite (and the best) Corny promo I've seen. Definitely a step in the right direction from continually making fun of the audience.
xlynwoodx
This was a great promo from Pritchard and Cornette. I forgot Stan Lane was even there until the camera cut to a wide shot. I love when the faces give the heels a taste of their own medicine and the heels get pissed about it. Pritchard is upset because the cut over his eye ruined his chance to film some commercials in Hollywood.
