Dutch Mantel is in South America (??) in hiding from someone who he can't let find him, so he can't say where he is. He has two bodyguards - Paco and Julio. I'm intrigued because Dutch is The Man, but I have no idea where this is going.

This was Dutch's swan song from SMW as he took a job booking in Puerto Rico, so this led absolutely nowhere. I think it was designed to be his swan song, but I watched it 2-3 times and I still haven't figured out what Dutch was going for here. And with that, the best broadcast team in the US is split up.

Dutch seems to be in some serious trouble as his bodyguards nervously look around. Wonder who was after him that caused him to bolt to South America. Weird way to leave if that was the case.

It's a sad day in SMW as Dutch leaves and is in a South American country (Puerto Rico) and is hiding from bad people. Bizarre really.

Yeah I was sort of intrigued to see where this was leading to till I cam in the thread and read that this was it. Really bizarre way for Dutch to bow out of SMW.

I really enjoyed Dutch in Memphis, I really enjoyed Dutch in WCW in the early 90 although he was basically a JTTS, but man, did I became a massive Dutch Mantell fan in SMW. Seriously my favourite color guy ever now next to Ventura, and yes, his team with Caudle was the best in the US at that point. SMW won't be the same without Dirty Dutch.

The WWF lost its soul the previous November. Now Smoky Mountain is losing its. Weird way to write Dutch out of the company. I wonder how feels about being a sneaky immigrant in a foreign country.

Dutch Mantel is in a South America but can’t say where as some people are trying to find him. He had received some late night phone calls and some bad looking people had started to follow him around, so thought it would be beneficial to his health if he just left the country. He tells everyone that he is okay and hopes to be back soon, when his bodyguards (Paco and Julio) spot some people and they abruptly have to go.

 

Dutch deserved better than this as his swansong, especially as the storyline doesn’t go anywhere. Surely they could have thought of a better way to write him out than this? I will say without question that he is one of the best colour men ever after having watching his run in Smoky Mountain Wrestling and Bob Caudle and he were a wonderful double act. It really won’t be the same without him (hmmm, haven’t I said that already recently?) and does feel like a changing of the guards with the Heavenly Bodies also now out of there.

I'm watching SMW in order and just watched this episode today.Terrible news that Dutch is gone with a whimper rather than a bang. That's one more highlight of SMW gone.
