I never noticed how massive David Webb's head was. I also never understood why Dave Brown never acknowledged the commentators on the Memphis footage. They never mentioned those guys' names. I had to ask Eddie Marlin once at a house show and he just did that mumbling thing that you couldnt understand and went right back to selling hot dogs.

I wonder which way Eddie drove into Evansville. The Coliseum is about two blocks from the river into Kentucky, so if he comes in from the south, then he really wouldnt have had to see that much of Evansville. It is kind of a depressing area, if your not into ancient buildings. 1990 was also long before the Casino and the new arena the WWE runs now. Its not as bad as it was. If they stayed over in Louisville and came west, then yeah, they saw quite a bit of Evansville and its really nothing special but not that bad either. Typical small market town, I figure, much like a Knoxville or a Wheeling.

Great promo from Gilbert and Anthony, with Eddie really pouring on the hatred of Evansville.

I found AJ's story about Eddie Marlin and the Evansville announcers a bit surprising. Did Eddie really think that all the fans in the area got WMC, or should have? Did he think that AJ was asking something that he had no business asking? Was there a problem between the promotion and either the announcers or the station they worked for at the time? Even for people dedicated to maintaining kayfabe, the identity of the Evansville announcers seems like a strange thing to keep a secret.

They knew we didn't get WMC. The booking of the weekly house shows was a repeat of the main stuff on the Memphis cards a week prior. With the same angles, same title changes, the same whole deal. If you were perceptive enough to catch that, it kind of sucked. Most knew but didn't care. In fact, I know one time on the Louisville show, they showed footage of the actual match in Louisville with the Memphis commentary and it synched up pretty much the same.

As far as Eddie mumbling something incomprehensible, well, that was Eddie. He was hard to understand sometimes.

Okay, copy and paste fouled up on me again, so here we go longhand. By the way, this promo is actually from August 4; where you got August 29 from I have no clue.

This is Eddie's and DWB's answer to the Lawler/Dundee promo earlier. Eddie claims that Sam Lowe is his friend, and that the coffee Anthony threw in Sam's face a couple of weeks ago was cold. He then offers his services as a peacemaker in the Middle East, since his plans always come to pass. Then we get a decent promo from Kim about the stripping match with Tessa.

Eddie may be the one Memphis heel who can go word for word with Lawler, and Kim's not the worst promo in the world, either; she's much better than Tony at this point, in fact. I just wish that the stripping hadn't been teased so often, because I'm really tired of it being promised and not delivered. I'm not a big fan of stripping angles to start with, but if you promise it for weeks and weeks, you eventually have to go through with it. Let's hope this is the week.

The Dirty White Boy says that he’s starting to get chill bumps just hearing the words ‘hospital elimination’, and he can’t wait until the match because he’s going to take Bill Dundee’s face and rip it apart! Gilbert says that he hates coming to Evansville, IN, getting his booking sheet and seeing he’s got to come to Evansville or as he calls it, depressville. He hates that these people get to see a match like this, but the more he comes to think about it, the more he doesn’t mind. Bill Dundee is going to bleed and get carted off and then they’re going to see how much Jerry Lawler can strut around when he’s left with the Dirty White Boy, ‘Hot Stuff’ Eddie Gilbert and the Dirty White Girl.

Date on this one is correct and it’s Gilbert and the White Boy’s rebuttal to the earlier Lawler and Dundee promo. I have a feeling this match would’ve been fantastic.
