Dusty has a new show, and Jason Hervey is his usual trollish self. We also get the debut of PN NEWS, just to really make this a collection of ... something ... personalities. He calls Dusty the original Rapmaster, and we close out with PN rapping, and WCW makes sure to show us black fans. Dusty works overtime to get over the gimmick, I'll give him that. Jason Hervey's dancing is punch-worthy. This wrestling promotion existed. Oh, WCW.

The in ring interview with Heyman where News makes him rap and dance is so funny. That should make an errata for the year. I still argue that the fans really wanted to get behind News but he was just atrocious flubbing his simplistic lines left and right.

Oh, of course DUSTY gets a damned interview set. If you want to call a few bales of hay and a curtain with a black dot on it a "set." WTF...are they pushing Jason Hervey as a heel? Why the fuck didn't they continue with this? He'd be a natural. News comes out and you know he's authentically street tough because he uses words like "'hood" and "jam." And kisses up to Dusty, of course. News lasts about 3 lines into said jam before completely losing his place. It's too bad he came along when he did, as a Flight of the Conchords Hiphopapotamus gimmick could have been money.

An actual rap gimmick was something fresh in wrestling at the time, even more than a decade after it took over mainstream music, and it could conceivably have worked. But this is so not the way to go about it.

I don't know what was crazier about this: a face interviewer with a heel sidekick or a fat white slob thinking he could rap and get over doing it. For this they dumped The Danger Zone? Really? As obnoxious as Heyman could be (and was supposed to be), this was a thousand times worse. If this was an experiment, it was a failure from the start. If Dusty actually thought this could last (which he evidently did), he was further out of touch than anyone ever dreamed.

Quick question: If Jason Hervey was Missy's boyfriend, why wasn't he with her on Missy's Manor? Even if you leave the behind-the-scenes romance out of it, the character he was trying to get over was a better match with tweener (at best) Missy than with legendary babyface Dusty.
