Bob Backlund ran for Congress as a Republican (makes me wonder how much of the Mr. Backlund character was based off of Backlund's real life views).

Wrestlers that ran for various partisan offices-

Eddie Gilbert - Republican for County Clerk (1994, lost)

Rick Steiner - Republican for Cherokee County School Board (last reelected 2014)

Ray Traylor - Republican for Paulding County Commission Chairman (2004, lost)

Rhino - Republican for Michigan State House (2016, lost)

Nikolai Volkoff - Republican for Maryland State House of Delegates (2006, lost)

Stan "Krusher" Kowalski (The Big K) - Democratic-Farmer-Labor for Minnesota State House (1986/2000, lost in primary)

Paul Ellering - Independence Party candidate for Minnesota State House (2002, lost)

Backlund was mentioned already. Lawler never ran with a party. Who cares about Brian Blair.

Non-USA category: Inoki, Onita, Hase, Sasuke, Butcher Vachon, all ran for office

A long while ago I found Randy Savage was a member of the Independent Party of Florida (instead of being a No Party Affiliation voter).

Baby Doll and her new biker boyfriend are diehard Trump supporters, been posting a lot of "deal with it" type memes on Facebook this week.

Not to say that he doesn't legitimately support the cause, but above all else John Cena is a #brand robot and his significant other is a main cast member on a E! show with a high female audience.

Based on today you have to wonder if things will change in that relationship. WWE does business around the world, and being attached to him could bite back.

Nash formed his own rogue collective bargaining group to ensure that he and his friends got paid what they thought they deserved. It doesn't surprise me that he's a pretty staunch Democrat.

IIRC, Nash also gamed workers comp at a Ford plant before getting into wrestling

Add another name to the list... Corey Maclin ran for Shelby County Clerk as a Democrat and lost.

If Bryan Danielson's politics weren't obvious enough, he was interacting with Naomi Klein on Twitter this week about her new book. He also got a shout out on Chapo Trap House after they interviewed her and they asked him to go on the show. That would be incredible and I hope it's something he's allowed to do. Bryan, go on Chapo!
