Loss Posted September 17, 2014 Author Report Share Posted September 17, 2014 As much as I love Vince, it's good that they are building up Rock as the new top heel because he's risking overexposure, as his pre-match promo makes evident. This is a fast-paced, hard-hitting and incredibly heated match between the two top stars of the era. This isn't GREAT or anything, but it's definitely good, and it reminds me of a Crockett era TV main event because of the atmosphere, action and strong face-heel dynamic. Mankind shows up at ringside to try to attack Vince, but Boss Man cuts him off and they end up brawling. Shamrock helps Boss Man and they double team Foley while Vince taunts him. Shamrock pulls the referee out of the ring after a stunner and while Austin is fighting him off, Undertaker shows up in the ring with a shovel. This heat is unreal. Even with the DQ finish, this is almost the perfect TV match for being good while setting up many things for the future at the same time. soup23 Posted November 7, 2014 Report Share Posted November 7, 2014 Seriously, Crockett main event isn't something that came to my mind while watching but it is completly spot on. This was a good first time match for these two to make up for their little feud last December when Austin was still banged up. That does honestly feel like ages ago in storyline. When you think in retrospect that Austin vs. Rock headlined Mania 15 months after having a mini feud for the IC belt, it seems so soon that they elevated up. PeteF3 Posted October 17, 2016 Report Share Posted October 17, 2016 Yeah, the match itself isn't overly special (though the action is quite good, especially the finisher-countering toward the end), but the crowd is ELECTRIC--one of the very best in a year of great WWF crowds. Mankind, Undertaker, Boss Man, and Shamrock all get into it and it all feels incredibly chaotic without being confusing or losing the plot. Austin fails to regain the title in his "only" title shot, as Undertaker clobbers Austin with a shovel. Your two side feuds until WrestleMania are now set--Russo's fingerprints are growing more evident but the main event scene booking is still solid.
