Loss Posted October 27, 2014 Author Report Share Posted October 27, 2014 This reminded me of a lot of the best All Japan six-mans with some American flavor mixed in, along with plenty to make it uniquely FMW. I absolutely loved the stereo figure four stuff, like this is a Dangerous Alliance or Four Horsemen match. Hido takes the brunt of the punishment as the early Heel In Peril here and he’s not great at selling things, but Hayabusa’s team is good enough offensively to cover for it. Hido turns the tide with a low blow, which again turns the match into more of a brawl. I like the feel here where one wrong move is enough to put everyone involved over the edge. Tanaka ends up fucking up his knee on a kick and the match settles back down to Tanaka as face in peril. There’s a really nasty spot where the heels fold up the ladder and drop it over Tanaka’s head while swinging a chair at the other end of the ladder. I really appreciate weapon shots like that when they aren’t stunt specials. The heels even offer up some fun doubleteam and tripleteam spots. Tanaka is awesome as the babyface that fights from underneath, as is Hayabusa after the hot tag. And Kuroda has really impressed me in all of these matches as a young guy who seems to make a point about his toughness every time out. The longer this went, the better it got. It was cool how near the end, the babyfaces responded in kind with the double/triple team spots. They do a few crazy highspots near the end of this, but they are built up so well and have such a logical place that it doesn’t come across excessive at all. tim Posted January 3, 2015 Report Share Posted January 3, 2015 Really cool match here that mixes in a bunch of different stuff. They have crowd brawling, weapons, triple team stuff, traditional six man spots, two FIPs (well, one is a HIP), dives and some very good regular ring work. I like how they do some traditional stuff, play by the rules of legal tags most of the time but they still keep a bit of a hardcore edge throughout, like how in Hido's peril section he makes a comeback with a low blow and instead of getting a hot tag he knocks the other opponents off the apron and they go do some brawling outside. The weapon use here was very good, it never dominated the match but was used for well timed and cool highspots. Really fun stuff and my favorite of the FMW matches so far. Tim Evans Posted April 3, 2015 Report Share Posted April 3, 2015 This was a fun match. Big fan of HIdo and he takes a lot of punishment in this. I like Hayabusa doing heel double teams to the heels. soup23 Posted April 4, 2015 Report Share Posted April 4, 2015 FMW has had highlights so far but this feels like to me where they really started to build the momentum that will propel them through the second half of the year as one of the best companies worldwide. Hido gave a great performance here taking a beating and this had an eclectic mixture of everything you would want from this type of multi man match. I remember seeing the dog food stip and shaking my head at the ridiculous of it but they even make that bit work. Maybe a few too many near-falls and saves for my liking (there's the thing about dumb babyfaces again--there are a few instances of the other 2 guys standing there picking their noses while the other heels dive back into the ring to rescue Hido). But with the stakes here I guess that's okay, and we get the right result. The Memphis influence is particularly strong here with that post-match. Superstar Sleeze Posted January 20, 2019 Report Share Posted January 20, 2019 Hayabusa, Masato Tanaka & Kuroda vs Mr. Gannosuke, Kanemura and Hido - FMW 6/15/99 A pretty great balls to the wall spotfest. Sure there are control segments but really this is all about the highspots and they are really good highspots. For some reason there is a really rickety ladder involved. Hido takes a beating for the heels and they are doing traditional tagging. Faces post his leg and triple figure-4 spot. Dive train in the corner but Hido low blows and a brawl ensues. The result Kanemura tries to kill Tanaka. How is he alive? The chair shots and ladder throws. They stick his head in the ladder ram it into the corner and they hit with the chair. They try powerbombing him to death including the ShieldBomb to no avail. I'm doing this like all my reviews from memory and spotfests are the hardest to do because there is so much going on so I forget how Tanaka tags to Hayabusa. I've mostly thought Hayabusa is overrated but I actually liked him a lot in this setting. It suits him well. No overly long extended epic just let me hit my highspots. Great superkicks and dives. Hayabusa is very influential on today's scene. The finish is very ECW. There are three Hayabusa spots: a great 450, triple team Doomsday Device and a ladder moonsault any of which should have been the finish instead Kurosawa hits a strike to win. Silly.
