Hardy Boyz

(First two are links to reviews from my blog, but if that's not copacetic I can copy and paste as I've written the same reviews in other places on this board).

1) vs. Edge & Christian (No Mercy '99)

2) vs. Briscoe Brothers (OMEGA)

3) vs. Dudley Boys (Royal Rumble '00)

Just watched this earlier today, and what a match. It's a garbage spotfest for sure, but coming off the heels of so much bad garbage wrestling in 1998-99, this feels fresh and innovative. It's paced like a sprint, and worked like two teams who truly do want to kill one another. It falls shy of MOTY status because there are a few moments that are overly contrived, like the Buh Buh Nestea plunge. Still, this is a great match to showcase the ability of Matt to sell, Jeff to be the fiery babyface, and the Hardys ability to make the crowd care about what happens to them during a match.

The Dudley Boys. Great example of a team whose sum is greater than the sum of its parts. Kayfabe credentials having won ECW, WWF, WCW (post buyout), IWGP, TNA and NWA tag team titles. Crazy wicked brawlers who would also bump like freaks. Served as great foils to the Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian during their car crashes. Great heels, very good babyfaces.

Some joshi teams: (EDIT: Now with reviews!)

Manami Toyota and Toshiyo Yamada (Non-Kansai/Ozaki series recs)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNiXE-7w00k - vs. Megumi Kudo and Combat Toyoda, 5/5/93

After their match at DreamSlam I that didn't turn out to be that great, the rematch is much better here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdmadlotI-4 - vs. Double Inoue, 1/4/94

First match I saw with Kyoko and Toyota in it where you realize down the line they'll pair off because the styles are so similar. Not a fantastic match per se, but worthwhile.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vA3CgDMuBjA - vs. LCO (Mima Shimoda and Etsuko Mita), 3/24/94

Coming out party for LCO of sorts, and my favorite non-Kansai/Ozaki tag match.

Crush Gals

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbVk0uP_3zA - vs. La Galactica and Lola Gonzalez, 1984

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qOh0wKwX8w&index=1&list=PLC635042010AD1015 - vs. Jumping Bomb Angels 3/20/86

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mGVAVfG8QU - vs. Yumiko Hotta and Mitsuko Nishiwaki, 11/87

Wanted to show a variety here more than anything else, showing them as an up-and-coming team, a team at the peak of their powers and then against a couple of youngsters themselves.

Jumping Bomb Angels

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kHAkRfCXOA - vs. Dump Matsumoto and Bull Nakano, 8/22/85

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IezJckMEbfM&index=36&list=PLNXQ5ENPcvUk-xhNb1aFtDwhhTgDIS29C - vs. Yukari Omori and Hisako Uno (Akira Hokuto), 4/5/86

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qMgmhkQy0A - vs. Crush Gals, 87 Tag League The Best, 9/14/87

First match is a great brawl, second match is on there to show how they can carry a young team and the final match is good to see how they compare to the Gals after they've become the most popular act ever in AJW.

I AM nominating Dynamite Kansai and Mayumi Ozaki on the strength of the series with Toyota and Yamada, though.

I'd like to nominate:

Badd Company/Orient Express (Pat Tanaka & Paul Diamond/Kato)

- The AWA 80's set and the Rumble 91 match thread should be enough to qualify.

Sheepherders/Bushwhackers (Butch Miller & Luke Williams)

- The Buddy Rose thread in the Microscope forum and the Puerto Rico wrestling thread have more than enough reviews for them to qualify.

Misawa/Kobashi haven't been nominated yet (somehow). I still can't c&p into the reply box for whatever reason, but let's say 11/93 vs. Baba/Hansen // vs. Doc/Boss Man, and 3/95 vs. Doc/Ace as opposed to vs. that other team. All are in the Yearbook folders.

So, there is now a thread to discuss The Mega Bucks as a top 25 tag team of all-time.

I thought you needed three match reviews (and I took that to mean three different matches reviewed) to be nominated?

Titans count.

It just seems weird that certain posters have to go out of their way when nominating someone (see your reply to the poster who suggested the Dudleys), yet someone else can put forward a team who only teamed together on five occasions (and I'm betting the nominator has only seen one of those matches) and they straight away get a thread. It just implies that the views or opinions held by certain posters on here are more important or valued than the rest.

Anyway, I'm glad that I'd already ruled myself out of doing the tag teams.

Magnum, you're selling the Battle of Atlantic City (Andre and Ted vs. Baron Scicluna and Jerry Valiant) WWF, 1979 a bit short there. Andre and Ted actually tagged together in Amarillo in the late 70s, 1979 WWF on numerous occassions, once in GCW against the Freebirds in 81, and then in 88 of course. All-in-all, they tagged 33 times -- which is actually 10 more than DiBiase and Williams, which no one would question.

I've done my due diligence.
