Mad Dog
I had a similar path with both guys. Didn't think much of them because most of my exposure to them was after they had lost a step and were in the WWF. I later go into WCCW, Mid-South and Memphis and saw younger, more agile versions of both guys. I tend to think One Man Gang was better in the ring and Bundy was a better promo. PeteF3
One Man Gang > Bundy > Akeem. Not just because of the gimmick change, but he really actively regressed as a worker.
Johnny Sorrow
Still, OMG had that fucking awesome match with Sabu in ECW.
Hawkeye12
Gang probably has better matches, but Bundy just has more star quality to him. Maybe it's the bald head and better promos, but if I need to pick one to draw me money, it's Bundy. And I feel Gang needed a manager to be in a top role, I think Bundy could do it on his own if necessary. I also think had Bundy turned babyface in the WWF, he'd have gotten over really well, again because of his promos. Him vs. Big John Studd would've been a fun split. goc
This was pretty tough. Then I remember the $10,000 challenge match from Memphis and Bundy got my vote. I am really not sure how much better Gang is in the ring, except that's probably more consistent. The best Bundy matches I have seen were pretty damn good. JerryvonKramer
Akeem = funniest character of all time. My brother and I spent at least 10 minutes watching Akeem promos and skits laughing our asses off last night. It's mainly his hand gestures and jive motions that do it. Every time. Shit is hilarious. But my bro was really tickled by this tiny moment in the Royal Rumble 89 promo / business with DiBiase: There's an incredible moment around 1:51 when Bossman looks over and clocks Akeem. You can see something go off in his head as he sees what Akeem is doing and he actually does a double take back at Akeem. He kept rewinding it and replaying it and we were in stitches. Mad Dog
My favorite Bundy promo is the one in World Class where he's on a loading dock and eating fried chicken through the whole interview. Actually that whole free agent angle with Bundy in World Class was tremendous.
Cross Face Chicken Wing
I gotta go Bundy. Gang was probably the better worker in his prime, but Bundy's overall character earns him the nod. Akeem might be the most unintentionally (or intentionally?) funny gimmick ever, though.
flyonthewall2983
Since someone mentioned a possible Bundy babyface run I was reminded of this, which I first heard about on WWE's Jake Roberts DVD. He talks about this briefly in one of the deleted scenes, in reference to the Legion Of Doom faction that was around for a little bit in 83-84. Victator
I think Bundy is pretty underrated. I thought he was one of the best Hogan opponents in general. But Gang is is significantly better than Bundy except for promos. He was much better at selling and bumping and had some nice offense too. He had ring presence and charisma. He was really good at working with smaller guys. He could sell and bump for them without it looking like bullshit. Thought he had a decent run in 91 WCW, considering he was working El Gigante and PN News. Thought it was as good a match as anyone could give Gigante. Worked good heel schtick with the hidden weapon. As mentioned earlier he had a good house show run in ECW. In particular some matches with Sabu and one with Shane Douglas. I think as more of his work turns up in Houston his reputation will improve further. There is a good match from his early years vs Savage in the Poffo promotion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJyHxoFsNH0 I put Gang in the same class I do Bossman and Bigelow. Actually I might put him over Bigelow.
rzombie1988
I would say Gang was the better worker, but Bundy was the better personality.
flyonthewall2983
I've been going through some old World Class stuff lately. Weird seeing Bundy with hair. He wasn't going bald, but I'm guessing decided the cue-ball look was better for the gimmick.
