*****FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*****

SCHOOL IS OPEN AT THE HART FAMILY DUNGEON

World Famous Wrestling Trainers Now Accepting Students

Calgary, AB -- Retired professional wrestler, trainer, and promoter, Stu Hart, of NWA Stampede Wrestling, is opening his house to train ambitious young athletes who aspire for excellence in the sport of professional wrestling.

Along with fellow trainer and wrestler, Mr. Hito, Mr. Hart has been very successful in training budding stars at the Hart Family Mansion in Calgary. Such trainees include current Montreal superstar Greg "The Hammer" Valentine and even Hart's own children.

The grueling course runs 4 weeks and classes open in Mid-August, with the trainers accepting applicants immediately. But this training is not for the weak at heart.

"To be a wrestler", Stu says, "You have to be able to take as much as you can dish out. My sons - including Bret, who is now working as far away as New York and Japan - has taken every ounce of punishment and torture Hito and I could dish out, and it has made him a very capable grappler. We train to prepare, because once you step into the ring, you're on your own in a world of pain. It takes a special kind of person with guts and heart to be a wrestler. We're looking for the next generation of those special fighters."

Hart noted that this is technically a "finishing school" for those already initiated in the training process. The hope is to attract talent with only 2-3 years experience to come to Calgary and hone their craft in the world famous Hart Dungeon. Among the young stars already training with the Harts are the hard-hitting duo from England, Davey Boy Smith and "Dynamite Kid" Tom Billington, who will provide additional support for trainees. "A lot of people think they can do what we do simply because they see us on television", Billington remarked, "but the fact of the matter is it takes years and years to get to the point where you're not laying on the mat, staring at the lights every night. I challenge anyone that thinks they've got what it takes to learn the basics and then come up to Calgary and show us what you've got."

Stampede Wrestling runs live events every Friday night at the Victoria Pavilion and airs on television Saturdays on Channel 32.

TAG TEAM CHAMPS TO TAKE ON ALL COMERS

Calgary, AB - National Wrestling Alliance International Tag Team Champions, Jim Neidhart and Mr. Hito, of promoter Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling, have announced a new desire to defend their titles against any and all competition. To celebrate their new found devotion to tag team wrestling, the champions have selected a new team name and created new entrance attire for themselves, inspired by the Mad Max film series. Neidhart and Hito, now know as The Dungeon Masters, will wear spiked leather jackets and helmets to the ring, giving them an aura of brutalization rarely seen in professional sports. Hito is a trainer at Stu Hart's wrestling training school, known the world 'round as The Dungeon. To add to the mystique, Neidhart has adapted a new finishing move known as the Torture Rack, which makes use of his impressive physical strength.

"We're looking to really establish a name for ourselves as a team out there", Neidhart commented at a press conference. "And to put ourselves on the map, we're bringing the toughest tag team competition to Canada and defending the belts against any and all comers."

"They're a fine team as champions, really", Stu Hart mentioned earlier in the conference, "But to really become something special in the world of wrestling, you need to take those belts to America, to Puerto Rico, and to Japan and face the fiercest competition out there. By bringing the teams to Canada first, other promotions will take note of this team and hopefully sign them to matches in other countries."

And fierce competition they will get: their first advertised championship defense will come against the monster team of Stan "The Lariet" Hansen and Bruiser Brody on 7/21 in Vancouver. If the Champions survive that onslaught, the next day they will wrestle against another violent team on 7/22 in Calgary, The Mad Tongans. Finally, the challengers on 7/29 come all the way from Puerto Rico with a vengeance on hand...The Invaders (#1 and #2).

As if that weren't enough, eventually, Neidhart and Hito will need to contend with the budding local teams in Stampede. From across the pond, the dynamic duo of Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid will not only wave the Union Jack with pride, but they will also kick your teeth in if you're not looking. The Land of the Rising Sun has also produced a top notch team set to make their debut, The Tokyo Hurricanes, Hiro Saito and Shunji Takan.

7/21 - Vancouver (vs. Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody)

7/22 - Calgary (vs. The Mad Tongans)

7/29 - Calgary (vs. The Invaders)

"Canada's Greatest Athlete" Named Goodwill Ambassador

Calgary, AB -- Wrestling promoter and trainer, Stu Hart, has been revamping his regional promotion within the past months, making preparations to take his locally televised wrestling show, Stampede Wrestling, to national syndication. Not only has Stu handed the book over to his son, Bruce Hart - as well as outsourcing television production to a company in Vancouver - now Mr. Hart has given up his seat on the National Wrestling Alliance Board of Directors to a former World's Heavyweight Champion. "Big Thunder" Gene Kiniski, who debuted in 1952 and went on to hold championships in Canada and across the globe, has agreed to represent NWA Stampede Wrestling as a goodwill Ambassador for both closed-door NWA Board meetings and in person at live wrestling events.

"I think it was a good decision to bring Mr. Kiniski on as our figurehead", says booker Bruce Hart. "It makes sense. Gene has the kind of leverage with the Board that only a former Canadian Champion could have, and that is something vital to a small, yet ambitious promotion like Stampede. [stu]'s making a lot of positive changes to the company, which started by running shows directly in Vancouver and followed through by giving me the booking reigns and now by letting Gene handle the politics. This way, Dad gets to train the talent, I get to book the talent, and Gene gets to saddle up and fight for the talent in the presence of the Board. It all runs together to form what will hopefully be a well-oiled machine."

NWA Stampede Wrestling Ambassador Gene Kiniski will make his first public appearance for the promotion as part of NWA Maple Leaf Wrestling's Canada Day Super Show on Friday, July 1 in Toronto at the Exhibition Stadium.

Stampede Wrestling returns to action Friday, July 1 in Calgary at the Victoria Pavilion.

A Mystery...

NWA promoters were each baffled to find a mysterious letter in their mailbox Monday morning. The letter - containing only a tarot card with a date written on the back - was postmarked 6/13/83 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Board members were quick to speculate that the message came from Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling promotion. When contacted, Hart declined any knowledge of the letter or the tarot card, noting that his son, Bruce, is now in charge of booking. The date on the back of the card is September 29, 1983.

A crate arrived this morning at the Hart Mansion in Calgary.

"From Inn-Oh-Key Doe-Joe", read Jim Neidhart.

"Gimme that, you ignorant brute", insulted the Dynamite Kid. He pried open the crate and found:

I want to know more about Dr. Blood.

Then you are asking the right questions.

There were two guys working the Dr. Blood gimmick: A guy in Florida/Texas in the early 70's, most likely Dale Lewis, and a guy working St. Louis and Canada in the late 70's and beyond (though not necessarily with the Dr. Blood gimmick).

He worked as Dr. Blood, Mike Blood, Mike Hammer, Wayne Ermatinger and Buddy Frankensteiner.

He now goes by the name Wayne St. Wayne (seems like he never got enough of the gimmick names) lives in St. Louis and creates some really interesting artwork, all detailed on his Facebook page.

mJVnYDKm.jpg

zwVDPaTm.jpg

This, however, is by far the most interesting thing I've read about him, from a WrestlingClassics thread:

Dr Blood "Bleeds Poetry" at the Venice.

Blood (Wayne Ermatinger and also Calgary's Buddy Frankensteiner and )is on stage with Big Daddy a local wrestling manager and of the local TV show Pro Wrestling With Big Daddy. They are doing something goofy like where BG is giving Wayne some kind of energy and bites the cerebral Dr Blood on the forehead. Wayne/Blood gives himself an Eric Kulas/New Jack job and proceeds to read his poetry. While he is reading, blood is pouring off his forhead, onto the poetry he is reading, on his shirt and onto his bare feet. The people in the club are TOTALLY APPALLED and the front row is nervously moving back.

Just one of many of Wayne/ Dr Blood great moments. His wacky art adorns many clubs in St Louis and he had murals around town. Besides his wrestling art of old time wrestling legends he grew up with watching, he also did a lot of monster stuff and often mixed wrestling and monsters. For example, Harley Race King Of The Universe is Harley wrestling some kind of horrific alien creature.

All sorts of strange mail arriving at the Hart Mansion this week. A few days ago, Antonio Inoki had the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship shipped in a wooden crate via Western Union. Today, a letter arrived addressed to Bruce Hart, post-marked Memphis, TN.

So, Bruce, I see you like to play with cards, don't ya? Well, here's a card for you:

I see you like to set dates, don't ya? Here's a date for you: July 1, baby!

Bruce shrugged it off and threw the letter and the card in the trash can.
