WingedEagle
Arguably more fun than any tag team I've seen in years. if I do a tag team ballot they'll probably find a way on.
Jimmy Redman
I've seen the Bucks do a handspring backrake with an actual rake. How can you not love them?
Matt D
The Young Bucks are the first wrestlers for the internet troll age. I think they understand pro wrestling pretty well. They've leveraged that understanding into a deconstruction of the form that appeals heavily to people under a certain age. They know how to integrate every aspect of their act, including and especially social media, in their actual in-ring work, which is very impressive. In one regard, the sense that wrestling is about milking money from the marks, they are revolutionary. They're the first wrestlers of the kickstarter era. I'd actually liken them to Brody in a lot of ways, in how they are their own bosses for the most part, in how they refuse to follow any sort of convention and even push against it as part of their gimmick. I think that real life will catch up with them at some point. Their act, as it is now, is not sustainable, both for the speed in which culture changes and inverts these days and just in the fact that they're aging and starting to have more familial responsibilities. In a lot of ways that leads to an end of freedom and their entire existence as they are now, hinges on their freedom to break from form. I respect what they've accomplished. I'm way too old for that shit though.
JerryvonKramer
Are all you people ranking the Hardys? Just out of interest.
WingedEagle
Not sure. Will need to go back and see just how highly I rate their stuff. My gut is that they miss it -- run of great matches in WWE feels short in hindsight but I can't say with any certainty.
BillThompson
Are all you people ranking the Hardys? Just out of interest. I will, but I don't really see a comparison to them and the Bucks.
Timbo Slice
Are all you people ranking the Hardys? Just out of interest. I will, but I don't really see a comparison to them and the Bucks. Pasty white dudes that fly around, basically.
InYourCase
I don't think I've enjoyed an act more than the Young Bucks over the past few years. Since 2009 their PWG stuff has been can't-miss. After their first ROH run which was lackluster they came back motivated and have delivered in nearly every situation. In New Japan, they've been a breath of fresh air in the junior tag division and constantly find themselves in the ***3/4-**** range. A strong shot of being in my Top 20. Mando
I could definitely see having the Bucks in my Top 25. RE: them versus Hardyz, I almost think of Matt and Jeff more as singles guys now, with Matt having a chance of making it onto my singles GWE ballot. Timbo Slice
The one thing that is going to hurt the Bucks in this voting process is that their whole persona is basically flipping the bird to anyone who thinks they suck, and there's a lot of people who don't like them outside of the fans who find the irony hilarious. They can go, though, and while I don't think they have a standout match to hang their hat on, they have plenty of stuff that's good, some stuff that's great, and enough for consideration. GOTNW
The Young Bucks are like a bad joke that you beat into the ground so much it becomes irrationally funny.
goc
I'm in the same camp as Matt D. I respect how they've managed to just do their own thing and say "fuck you" to anyone who doesn't like it. That said, I don't want to watch their matches at all.
El-P
I guess Matt put it right. They're awful pro-wrestlers.
Parties
Is flagrantly stealing DX and NWO gimmicks and doing them really badly now considered savvy "meta" commentary? That's a low bar to set for modern wrestling. I will say that their act seems to work better live in front of hot crowds than it does on tape, in that when you're in the crowd, you can see the comedy and enjoy it as ridiculous. That said, their recent run in NJ has been horrendous, and I don't know what else they'd have to coast into a top 25 on.
Jimmy Redman
I haven't seen their NJ run, but their case would be built on their US indy stuff, particularly from their home base in PWG.
WingedEagle
Apparently the Bucks are very love/hate. I'm definitely in favor.
W2BTD
I can't think of another team that consistently delivers great matches as routinely as this one. They literally never disappoint. As I sit here and try to figure out where they'd land on my list, the answer is probably shockingly high. I'm stacking them up with other teams that I genuinely love, and they're coming out ahead of most of them.
WingedEagle
Couldn't agree more. I enjoy a YB match just about every time out . I feel like I could end up with a top 10 ranking for them.
