You should check out the episodes of Marons podcast where he talks to some of the stars, Chavo jr and Kia, and the creators. The women who created this didnt know anything about wrestling going in, and then listened to the wrestlers working on it as to what was the correct portrayal of wrestling. And then they all fell in love with it, Maron included.

Yeah, I kinda guessed it was the case. Thanks, I will sure check these podcasts out as soon as I'm done.

Interesting that the two programs involving pro-wrestling I have truly loved these last few years have been LU and GLOW, both of which had involvement by Chavo Jr.

Ep 7 has me dying with the Klan gag and She-Wolf only knowing out to play Exodus ! Only to have an actually great apex at the end with the real Exodus theme. And episode dedicated to Chavo Sr. ? How classy is that. This show is the greatest pro-wrestling fiction I've seen (The Wrestler was great, but really a downer too).

Just finished this over the weekend and really really enjoyed it. I liked that it was not wrestling heavy but used it as a fun and creative backdrop to tell these folks stories along with the super 80's vibe and music tying it all together.

The characters were really great and I especially thought Marc Maron as Sam did a very fascinating character who wasn't a good guy at all but had moments where he broke through his own inner turmoil.

Also Kong looked physically the best I've seen her since her early AJW days and did a great job. Alex Riley's performance as Steel Horse was really good as well.

I'm really looking forward to the next season and hope they get 3/4 seasons out of this concept because it's a fun watch.

I'm all in on this. Loved the first season, and I have read that season 2 is even better.

For those who enjoy th 80s nostalgia/combat sports combination, I also heartily recommend Cobra Kai,  with Ralph Macchio and Billy Zabka reprising their iconic Karate Kid roles, but with Danny LaRusso now the successful, powerful one and Johnny Lawrence playing more of an underdog role. It's very very entertaining.

Switch NXT with Lucha Underground, and that's me.

I may go through S1 again before diving into S2 though ! So glad it's back !

This x1000.

All my free time is pretty much accounted for this week, so I won't be able to check it out for at least another 8 or 9 days, but fuck it. I'm going bell to bell, back from Season 1 on up whenever I can.

Watched Season 1 in one marathon viewing the day after it came out. Season 2 got watched all at once yesterday.

No spoilers but yea Season 2 was even better than the  first one. The cameos were great and "I want to see people dressed like pink flamingos" had me dying. Best episode is the one that mostly focused on Awesome Kong.

I have really enjoyed season 2 so far. I am a little over half way through (we have been binging most of the day).  There are a few really top tier scenes and sub plots. They also still hit that sweet spot where they do stuff that sort of speaks a little more directly to the wresting fan, good wink/nod moments for us.

Anyone else really pleasantly surprised by what an awesome (no pun intended) actor Kong turned out to be?

Seriously, she's not just "good for a wrestler" - she's a good actor, period. No spoilers, but her episode was one of the best, rawest (again, no pun intended), and most heartfelt of the season.

Really glad she got upped to series regular.

I have no idea why Chris Lowell (Bash) is still a guest-star. I think I've followed him from show to show (not intentionally) and this is easily his best work. I mean, if you had told me a few years ago that Dell from Private frickin' Practice was going to gush over

a Sammartino-Hansen match and I'd actually believe it, I would've thought you were crazy. I really hope he gets upped to series regular next season. Yes, I watched Private Practice for a time when my sister lived with me. But after Dell died and no one would take his orphaned child Betsy, I said "screw this - they're all selfish pricks" and gave up on the show. I have no idea how I watched it as long as I did. I think Brian Benben (Martin Tupper from Dream On) kept me going.

Yeah, I keep forgetting that its Kong actually. She is fantastic. You are spot on about her feature episode, fantastic stuff.

Yeah, Stevens has been great. There's a lot of really strong acting on the show and her episode was a standout... but the best episode of the second season was the "Episode" of the show.

Here's hoping for more Olga, the good twin, who may be without her lucky goat, but now has her leg fixed.
