Paige and all that

Even though the encounter was years before they met, I hope neither Brad or Xavier cross paths with Alberto any time soon. Dude beat the shit out of someone at a Mexican indy show just for bumping into Paige in a hallway, he's probably livid about this.

This stuff doesn't surprise me anymore, its the reactions that are still perplexing. I was told last night by a friend that Paige is 'trying' to get released. Not in a Donald Trump conspiracy type of way ( Paige providing the leaks herself), but more in the line of "Well, she has nudes out there now! Time to make sure she doesn't work another day in her life!". The Scarlett Letter is a thing of the past as far as the physical branding is concerned, but the social stigma is still there due to the slut-shaming, victim blaming, sexist culture we live in where sex (just like in horror films) is a bad thing and anyone having sex, being sexy, posing for nudes, etc. needs to be 'killed'. Obviously we are not talking about real murder, in America at least, but people use this type of stuff as ammunition and if not for themselves they supply the ammunition to others by starting conversations like 'Well what should be done with her now?'. The answer is simply...nothing.

Why is this still a conversation and 'controversy' in any sense in 2017? I agree with Stro that the minor details about all of this makes it somewhat comical. Despite the unintentional comedy this situations has delivered, its obvious to me that ee need to have a conversation as a society to learn how to DEAL AND RESPOND to these happenings. Its interesting to me that Braddox Maddox is living the Joey Ryan Sleaze gimmick in real life! I hope it stops there and its nothing more nefarious like living a carny-pro wrestling- sleaze Julian Assange gimmick.

Yeah, to me the worst part about all of this is that it will give more fuel to the nut-jobs that say "welp, guess she'll be doing porn in a year!" every time any woman ever leaves WWE. As if all they have to provide to people is their bodies. It was pretty bad after Kelly Kelly left. I heard it a lot after Paige's second suspension. It even came out when AJ Lee left, despite being with Punk.

How? Two different scenarios. Kim purposely made a sex tape and her and Ray J sold it with the Kris being behind the 'Woe is me' story to curb the slut-shaming and pivot Kim and her family into the "But you have to see the other side" gimmick which got her the E show. From the money and connections made from the well orchestrated ruse--The Kardashians have made millions. Sometimes people just need a jump start. For Paige, this wasn't done to make money or get fan. This was made when she was already famous, ranking in the money, and on TV/film/video games/etc. This wasn't made to be release, there was no marketing campaign behind it, Paige didn't already have a canned response and interviews lined up. Kim tried to get her name out there before the tape was release while Paige has been trying to be a low-key as possible and just live a normal life. To me its just two different situations.

Of course it is. That was sarcasm.

Still, we live in the Kardashian/social-network/naked-duckface-selfies/sextape-hacking/Pornhub era. So this shit is gonna happen again and again and again. How to protect your privacy (if there's any left at this point) and your personnal datas is an issue that becomes more and more prevalent. I don't even know how to encrypt my e-mails or Whatsapp messages. Not that there's any content that would be of any interest to some jerk-off somewhere nor the NSA (hello NSA !), but still...

And to get back to pro-wrestling, what I'm interested in is indeed the reaction of the WWE, if any.

Well in the WWE world someone has to get punished for it. You can't touch Brad Maddox cause he is finished in the company. You can't touch the mouthpiece of the host of Wrestlemania. So you go after the person who failed a wellness test, has been injured in the last year, and is currently dating a crazy person who left the WWE in a bad situation. Not saying that should at all but I can see their logic. It is kind of like what we have in DC with Redskins and their GM. Most people believe that they were waiting to get rid of him and the fact that was still drinking was a convent excuse. She shouldn't be punished but I have a bad feeling about it

For people using the "well Seth Rollins sent a dick pic and didn't get punished". He was the heavyweight champ and had the support of a McMahon. If he was still in NXT maybe it would be different

So I assume Meltzer has already given his "well women can be crazy and I know crazy women" comment by now

Firm believer in a strong right to privacy, but I'm also not a fan of defending the dumb. Public figures derive their income and value from publicity and attention. They should be aware of how this pendulum swings both ways and perhaps take extra care to not creating content they wouldn't want to get out. Not suggesting anyone has a right to release such material illegally, but if a public figure's image takes a hit from something like this its not unreasonable to expect an employer/partner to reevaluate the relationship. We all have to evaluate and manage our conduct and the risks they pose to our jobs.

That's a fine argument to make and personally I would tell any women if they see a camera near to either run like hell or grab it afterwards because unless you are a Kardashian no good will come from it.

The problem is that the "dumbness" doesn't seem to apply to all the parties. The majority of people on social media see only Paige for being the dumb one and not the two guys involved. Especially the dick filming the thing. I mean I understand "men will be men" bullshit but frankly I am old to be giving people that much slack

By the way I am not saying you are doing that. Just a general thought I see on Twitter from this.

I'm with you -- the same standard applies to all parties involved. As far as I'm concerned this is worst for Woods solely because he's the only one in a prominent position with the company at present and thus has the most to lose.

I think people are really over stating how much "bad PR" this is going to bring to WWE. Nobody outside the wrestling bubble is going to talk about this. It's going to be the big topic of discussion on twitter/reddit/NEWZ sites for a week or two and then go away except for the reoccurring dumb jokes like what still happens with Rollins from time to time. This isn't going to get talked about on any kind of TV news show.

You're fucking up if you're reading social media comments about anything, though. Just reading the comments of a normal tweet is full blown insanity for anyone even remotely famous.

Well I doubt in 2014 when this video occurred any of them thought they would be in the position they are in 2017.

If you're aspiring to succeed in a business where success comes with attention, fame or whatever other synonym you like, its worth considering your lot in life may change down the road.

Not sure it brings any bad PR to WWE. If you're an individual involved its also irrelevant as all that matters is how your employer or other sources of incomes view such an item. That's the only reality that's relevant. Perhaps its not fair or appropriate. But its far from unprecedented.

I really dislike this, you are a celebrity and your private stuff was stolen and now it's public, and it's your fault.

It sounds a lot like blaming a rape victim for wearing a skirt.

People are allowed to make sex tapes without them being stolen. There is no justification for stealing someone's private stuff and making it public. (Unless we are talking about something like a politician doing private things that hurt the people who elect him or other unique situations of course).

I expected (feared) someone would bring that up. And no. It's not like that at all. And we should never use rape as a matter of comparison to anything else. It just demeans the absolute horror of what a rape is. So, please, nope.

And yeah, I think keeping private sex stuff on your phone three years after the fact is downright dumbfuckery in the current context. Of course there's no justification for stealing it and making it public. Yet shit like this happens all the time, especially when you're someone in the public eye. If I was Paige, I would kick myself for not protecting my stuff better. Of course, she's the victim here, no question about that.

Yeah wtf. Grimmas is basically equating everyone commenting on this to rape victim blamers for saving their porn to the cloud. Which is insulting to both rape victims and the people posting in this thread.

So, we can't compare something without thinking they are the exact same? That's some shitty logic.

A lot of people (not so much here) have said it's her fault, because she is a celebrity and she shouldn't keep that stuff on her phone. They have blamed her, for having her stuff stolen and released to the public.

Often times when someone gets raped, people will blame the person for the clothes they were.

It's an analogy. In no way do I think theft is the same as rape, that's bonkers. However, I think blaming the victim happens in both these cases.

It's not her fault. It's Maddox's fault for not securing his shit when he has a modicum of celebrity and a woman with more celebrity in an era where this exact situation has happened multiple times, including just 2 years ago, plus the people who actually di the hacking. Making the argument that "this is what rape victim blamers do" is dumb as shit. It's more like saying someone was dumb for leaving their car unlocked in an area where people get their cars stolen on a regular basis.

Unless you're being purposely incendiary, of course.

I haven't said a thing about you.

People have flat out said it's her fault, she shouldn't have made them or shouldn't have kept them on her phone. It's her fault. That's stupid.

I never once said you did, or everybody did. However to deny the same thing is not happening is bizarre. Have you not been on reddit or twitter or facebook or anything? There is victim blaming going on here.

EDIT: I knew it was stupid of me to post anything here. I should had just kept to twitter.
