This week on Burning Spirits we decide to take a trip back in time with special guest Andy Labarre (@trillyrobinson) to review FMWs 7th Anniversary show, and oh what a trip it is!

Horror movie villain stables, multiple Jason Voorhees masks, ominous storm clouds, the Rock n Roll Express, and thats just the undercard! This is a wild show to say the least, and it features endless amounts of weirdness and epic spectacles, and amongst all the barbed wire and explosions is one of the greatest matches of all time (but youll have to listen to find out which one)! This show is a blast (literally) so please do yourself a favor and check it out!

Burning Spirits #31: Ishikawa vs Miyahara, King of DDT, and STREET WRESTLING IN TOKYO DOME!

Our longest episode yet! We start off this massive beast discussing the much-talked about and controversial Kento Miyahara vs. Shuji Ishikawa Triple Crown Championship match.

We share our thoughts on the booking, future directions and title challenges, various booking philosophies, and of course we review the match itself. We then move on to DDT, where we cover every single match so far in this years King of DDT tournament, and give our predictions on the winner.

And finally, the match everyone has been waiting for, truly the greatest match in the history of our sport: Sanshiro Takagi vs Minoru Suzuki at the (empty) Tokyo Dome. We spend upwards of 50 minutes discussing this sprawling epic, including all the twists, turns, and cameos that comprise this incredible match. What is Jun Kasais 2nd job? What two NJPW main eventers lurk in the bowels of the Tokyo Dome? Which Philadelphia stereotype does Genichiro Tenryu resemble? The answers to these questions and more will be revealed, this week on BURNING SPIRITS!

-Sanshiro Takagi vs Minoru Suzuki DDT 6/1
-Akito vs Dick Togo DDT 6/2

Your talk of Mad Paulie reminded me of my fantasy booking that at some point soon when both groups have kind of became stale that Damnation & LIJ would just switch promotions and have LIJ in DDT and Damnation in NJPW, the point being I think if you were to pick out parallels Mad Paulie isn't the EVIL of Damnation but he is actually BUSHI so it makes sense that his strikes look so weak.

Is it wrong to say my fave match from the KO-DDT was Akito v Endo?

We break down every match (in reverse order no less) and give our overall impressions of the show and some dreadful ~fantasy booking~ going forward. Be sure to listen towards the end for some fairly bewildering Burning Spirits Cursed Audio as well!

Jake Lee being out is the worst news I've heard in a very very long time. Also I get what Drew was trying to say about context being key but I take it more in a match to match bases rather than based on the promotions as he was talking about

Burning Spirits #39: A Leisurely Conversation About Wrestling in 2017

In this Very Special Episode TM of Burning Spirits, Drew & Kevin are joined by Timothy Robert Buechner (@luchaundead) to stroll through the year in wrestling so far.

We bounce around to a variety of topics including star rating conspiracy theories, our favorite matches, wrestlers, promotions, and more! Meanwhile, Drew has an inpromptu therapy session and seeks answers about his lack of connection to recent NJPW main events. Its our most self-indulgent episode yet, but we felt like everyone needed a break, so here you go! Oh, and of course we get the inside scoop on Onita at CZW from Kevin.

Burning Spirits #41: DDT RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2017 ~PETER PAN EVEN IF YOU BECOME 20 YEARS OLD PETER PAN~ Review

The true peak of Burning Spirits Cursed Audio is reached this week with a horrendous sounding episode. We've got Trump Rally crowds, tornado warnings, audible thunder claps, double and triple echos, underwater mic effects, ambient music, hypnosis directives and more to confuse and disorient the listener. If you dig through all that, you will also find a tremendous episode with an even more tremendous guest! We are joined this week by Chad Campbell (@bigboysplaywcw) of Place to Be Nation/Pro Wrestling Only fame to review DDT's flagship show, Peter Pan! We review every match on the card and have a lengthy discussion of the main event and current ace Konosuke Takeshita. We talk about the future, what the company's plans are for Tetsuya Endo going forward, and bring in some past DDT history and insights to flesh out our thoughts. There's a great episode in here that, while at times frustrating and even veering into the surreal, really delivers the goods as far as match discussion goes (in my humble opinion.) Come to think of it, that's almost like a microcosm of DDT itself right? Check it out!
