This show will be the crowning of the beginning for 24 Karat. Tony asks Flair about the Bob Backlund situation and his petition. Flair says that he isn’t worried. He’s the WORLD CHAMPION, and he can beat anyone, just like he has done to Backlund already. JJ steps in and says that the NWA will uphold the contact and Backlund is gone from Mid Atlantic anyways. Time to move on! Weaver asks the group who they would like to defend those titles against at the huge event. JJ once again steps in and says only the best competition. The Fantastic’s retained the titles. November 15, 1984 World Championship Wrestling TV Taping (Airing 11/17) Savannah, GA Civic Center Tony welcomes us to the show. David Crockett is on assignment this week, and we have Bob Caudle here to fill in. The big talk this week is the upcoming Starrcade event on Christmas night in Greensboro, North Carolina. Tony tells us that we will see the press conference from Friday afternoon later on tonight’s show. Bob says that it was a major step forward for the NWA with Lutte Internationale coming into the NWA and their involvement on Starrcade. Tony says we will have more on that later on this week’s show here on WTBS. For now, let’s get to the ring. Barry & Kendall Windham defeated Tiger Chung Lee & Terry Gibbs COMMERCIAL BREAK 1 Tony welcomes the United States Champion Magnum TA. Just as Magnum gets to the set, Paul Jones & his boys attack Magnum. Mr. Wrestling II seems to be leading the attack. Larry Zbyszko and the Bolsheviks are there, laying into the champion. Nikolai and Boris holds the champion on his feet. Mr. Wrestling II grabs the champion and delivers a crushing Belly-to-Belly Suplex off the set onto the concrete floor. The Windham’s and Sweet Ebony Diamond run out for the save, but the damage is already done. Paul Jones and his boys walk to the other side of the set as they leave, laughing at the damage they have caused. Bob Caudle assumes the attack is due to them assuming that the champion is Sweet Ebony Diamond tag team partner in tonight’s main event. We go to commercial as we see the Windham’s helping Magnum to the locker room. COMMERCIAL BREAK 2 Tony welcomes us back to the show as he says that Sweet Ebony Diamond told him during the break that he has a partner tonight, and they will get revenge for Magnum in the main event. Sir Oliver Humperdink walks out to the set. He tells the audience that his men the Moondogs have re-focused and they are looking at tag team gold. He stays at the set and talks with Tony and Bob as his men are in tag team action. The Moondogs defeated Paul Roma & Swede Hanson COMMERCIAL BREAK 3 Tony and Bob welcome us back to the show. They send us to the press conference that went on November 16th. November 16, 1984 National Wrestling Alliance Press Conference Montreal, Quebec, Canada David Crockett steps out to the podium in front of the press and the TV cameras. He welcomes everyone to this special occasion. He says we are here for a couple of important reasons. First, and foremost. He is here to officially announce that as of today November 16, 1984, Lutte Internationale is a proud member of the NWA. The growing relationship between Mid Atlantic, the largest and most successful member of the NWA up until today, and Lutte Internationale, a major international player, has bred this incredible working relationship. On behalf of the National Wrestling Alliance and Mid Atlantic, we welcome Lutte Internationale! Frank Valois takes the stand and first thanks the NWA Board of Directors, and especially Jim Crockett and the Crockett family for accepting the entry of Lutte Internationale into the NWA. He says that this is the biggest day in the history of Lutte Internationale and he’s very much looking forward to everything coming up, especially for Starrcade on Christmas night. Lutte has prided itself on offering the best wrestling product in Eastern Canada and they’re thrilled that they’ll be able to export their brand of pro wrestling in the United States and in the Mid-Atlantic territory. Valois says that it was only natural for him and Jim Crockett to work together down the road and the possibility to do it within the ranks of the National Wrestling Alliance is extraordinary. Valois plugs that he’s looking to retool a bit his roster to mold Lutte Internationale a bit like Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and also to maximize the dream matchups to give wrestling fans around the globe. Valois hopes that everyone is ready because it’s now gonna be a wild ride! Jim Crockett Jr. is brought to the podium. He would like to take this opportunity to announce that not only are we welcoming Lutte Internationale to the NWA, but we are also going to announce the main event for Starrcade 1984! This huge event will take place in Greensboro, NC at the Greensboro Coliseum Christmas night. After a few weeks of discussion among the Board of Directors at the NWA, they have made a decision on the petition from Bob Backlund for a rematch against the NWA World Champion Ric Flair. The board has decided that Mr. Backlund does have a legitimate claim due to the events that happened in Atlanta. It also means that this will be an interpromotional battle, as Bob Backlund has recently returned to Lutte Internationale. Jim also says that due to the nature of the events leading up to this match, and the importance that this stays a one-on-one contest, the NWA has assigned a very special guest referee. This man is an Olympic Gold Medalist and former boxing World Heavyweight Champion, “Smokin’ Joe Frazier. On top of having a special guest referee, this match will also take place inside a steel cage! Jim Crockett Jr. also announces that the NWA World Tag Team Titles will be on the line in Greensboro, with the current champions, The Fantastic’s taking on a team to be determined by Lutte Internationale in the coming weeks. Mr. Crockett also said that this major event will have 9 matches total. Three will be inter-promotional matches, three from Lutte Internationale and three from Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. The rest of the matches will be announced on the local television shows in the coming weeks. He teases a battle royal of some kind, with a major prize to be awarded to the winner. Frank Valois comes back to the stand and before announcing his Lutte Internationale main event for Starrcade, he wants to make a few precisions about the NWA World Tag Team Championship match at the event. The Fantastics will indeed wrestle a tag team appointed by Lutte Internationale but this tag team will be known on December 2nd during a Lutte live event. First, there will be a 4-team elimination tag team match taking place between The Zambuie Express, The Wild Samoans, Jim Cornette’s Midnight Express and the one-night duo of Gilles “The Fish” Poisson & the legendary Mil Mascaras. The winning team of this 4-way tag match will move on to the night’s main event as they’ll wrestle the Rougeau Brothers. The winners of the main event will become the #1 contender's to the NWA World Tag Team Championship and will take on The Fantastics at Starrcade. Valois says that this is perhaps the biggest match in Lutte Internationale’s history as whoever wins that match will compete in a marquee match that will sell out any building in the Mid-Atlantic territory. Valois wishes the best of luck to all teams involved. As for the Lutte Internationale main event on that night, Valois says that there is unfinished business between International Heavyweight Champion Rick Martel & Samu, stemming for a violent match that took place last week. As a result, Samu had been suspended indefinitely because he had also stolen Rick Martel’s International Heavyweight title belt. At Rick Martel’s request, Lutte officials have decided to lift Samu’s suspension, effective on December 12 to allow Samu to prepare himself to a rematch with Rick Martel at Starrcade. Valois proudly announces that Rick Martel will defend the International Heavyweight Championship against Eddy Creatchman’s personal assassin, Samu. And given Eddy Creatchman’s recent implication in the previous matches between Martel & Samu, Eddy Creatchman will be suspended in a shark cage over the ring! Frank Valois says he cannot wait for Starrcade and he hopes that the fans will appreciate what Lutte will offer to them on Christmas night. David Crockett comes back to the podium and thanks the press for coming. He hopes that they are as excited for this event as he is. He also hopes that with Lutte Internationale coming to the NWA, it will help continue to make the NWA the best wrestling organization in the world! Thank you for coming. As we return from the taped footage, Tony talks about how big this is. Bob agrees with that assessment and is very excited about the announcement that Bob Backlund will get his one-last chance against Ric Flair for the NWA World Title. Tony says that’s not all, and we’ll hear from the NWA World Tag Team Champions when we return. COMMERCIAL BREAK 4 Tony is back and the Fantastic’s are already on set with him. Tony asks about the announcement that they will defend the titles against a team determined by Lutte Internationale at Starrcade. Tommy Rogers says he’s excited about that. They are the World champions and they are in the NWA for the competition. Bobby Fulton says that Lutte has a number of top talented teams and that one of them will get the chance of a lifetime on Christmas night. But ultimately, who will walk out of the best Christmas present of all time? We will have to see…. Mr. Fuji and Toru Tanaka defeated Jim Powers & Ray Apollo. Flair says he was upset yesterday at the decision. But he sat down with his 24-Karat partners and he knows that he’s got this. He’s already beaten Backlund. He’s not afraid of the cage. That boxer doesn’t know what he’s getting into. He says that he’s isn’t the diamond of the NWA for nothing. Ladies don’t ride Space Mountain because it’s a fad. He’s the greatest thing in sports. He is the NWA WORLD CHAMPION. There is NO ONE better! He’s got 15 pounds of gold to prove it, pal! Mr. Wrestling II and Larry Zbyszko come out for their match. Sweet Ebony Diamond arrives at ringside and is attacked. We go to commercial is what looks like the beginning of a handicap match. COMMERCIAL BREAK 7 When we return, we see Larry beating on Diamond. The crowd starts to stir as someone is coming down the aisle. We see Adrian Adonis climbing on the apron. He is standing in the corner of Sweet Ebony Diamond. The crowd starts to get excited. He’s calling for the tag. Larry and Mr. Wrestling II are not happy. They continue the attack, and trying to double-team him in the corner, but Adonis rushes into the ring to help. All four men are brawling. The referee tries to regain control, but Tommy Young calls for the bell. It’s a chaotic scene as more officials run out and we close the show. With Starrcade on the horizon... I am interested to see who jumps out ahead of the pack and faces Flair. Other than his slight slip up to Steamboat last year, he has been an amazing champion so whomever gets that spot is going to be in a prime position to change the scope of the NWA. agentofenton Posted December 2, 2016 Author Report Share Posted December 2, 2016 November 22, 1984 Thanksgiving Night World Championship Wrestling TV Taping Roanoke, VA Civic Center Tony Schiavone and David Crockett welcome us to this week’s show. They inform us this show was taped on Thanksgiving night. There is no set this week, as they are at ringside. This is a special two and a half hour show. And we begin with a big time opening contest! NWA Television Championship Match Tully Blanchard © (w/ JJ Dillon) vs Mad Dog Vachon Tony talks about Tully defending the title last week on World Wide Wrestling against Butcher Vachon and this week on World Championship Wrestling Mad Dog gets a shot. Tully attacks early, very aggressive with brutal strikes and tossing Mad Dog to the floor. Tully throws him into the ring post. Tully climbs into the ring and Earl Hebner reads him the riot act. JJ gets a few stiff kicks in before Earl turns around. Butcher Vachon comes down the aisle and JJ backs off and runs to the far side of the ring. He doesn’t say anything, just stands over Mad Dog. He gets up and slowly rolls back into the ring. Butcher is keeping an eye on JJ. Tully complains for a second about Butcher being there, but just attacks once again. Very little wrestling here, just a lot of strikes. But as he keeps him down, the champion begins to use the wrestling holds he’s known for. Wearing the challenger down with wrestling holds. Working on the lower neck, upper back area. Mad Dog is beaten down, but the fans are getting behind him. The hated for Tully is high. They want to see Vachon take him down. He starts a comeback, but Tully pushes into the corner and chokes him against the ropes. Earl counts Tully and instructs him to knock it off. Tully comes into the corner to attack again, but Mad Dog catches him with a back elbow and a quick vertical suplex. Both men are down,but Tully gets back up faster, as he’s not as beaten down. Mad Dog is slower to get up, but goes on the attack. Tully is on defense, Mad Dog is really making a strong comeback here. He’s got the champion on the ropes. He takes Blanchard down with a powerslam and goes for a pinfall, but Tully is close to the ropes. JJ reaches in and puts his foot on the rope. Butcher sees this is comes over and lays out JJ with a stiff punch. Butcher sees this and applauds. He turns around to a knee to the stomach. Tully sets up for the Slingshot Suplex, which he nails. Tully gets the pinfall to retain the title. Time: 12:43 Winner: Still NWA Television Champion Tully Blanchard COMMERCIAL BREAK 1 The Great Kokina vs Butcher Vachon Mr. Fuji isn’t in the corner tonight, but that doesn’t make much of a difference. Kokina drops Butcher rather quickly with a few devastating maneuvers. A newly named Bonzai Drop later, and Kokina walks away the winner. Time: 3:10 Winner: The Great Kokina COMMERCIAL BREAK 2 Six-Man Tag Team Match Mr. Wrestling II, NWA United States Tag Team Champions Pat Patterson & Ray Stevens (w/ JJ Dillon) vs “Superstar” Billy Graham & Barry & Kendall Windham. This was originally scheduled with Tully Blanchard as the third member of the team, but the board of directors decided to put a TV title match on the card, and thus the addition of Mr. Wrestling II here. This is a hot action, big time match. Both teams go back and forth. We head to commercial break. COMMERCIAL BREAK 3 As we return. 24-Karat has cornered Kendall in their side of the ring and begin to work him over. Mr. Wrestling II gets tagged in and shows his cockiness as he works over the younger wrestler. II taunts Barry and Billy as he drops Kendall with a beautiful vertical suplex. But he only gets a two. Kendall is able to use the cockiness against him and drop him with a dropkick as he misses with a shoulder block. Kendall tags in Graham and now the powerful athlete starts to toss around his opponent's. This quickly turns into a pier-six brawl. All six men begin to brawl inside the ring. Superstar and II are alone in the ring. Superstar picks him up above his head with a military press. Patterson sneaks back into the ring, as JJ distracts the referee. He clips Graham from behind, and II falls onto him. Tommy Young turns around to count the three. Stevens sends Kendall to the ringpost and climbs into the ring. They attack Graham’s now injured knee. II slides out of the ring and kicks Barry as they champion's work over Graham. They are trying to break his leg. Stevens leaps off the ring ropes as Patterson holds him and lands a vicious knee across his leg. Barry is able to battle II off of him and grab a chair and rushes the ring. The champion’s bail, proud of their actions. They grab their belts and hold them high in the air as they leave ringside. Before we go to commercial, we see Kendall on the floor, bloodied and hurt. Graham is in the ring in a lot of pain, holding his knee. Time: 17:52 Winners: Mr. Wrestling II, Pat Patterson & Ray Stevens COMMERCIAL BREAK 4 The Strongbow’s vs The Grappler’s Another tag team match, and the announcer’s are still hyped on the previous tag team match. They talk about Graham going out on a stretcher and Kendall being helped to the back by Barry. During the match, The Grappler’s worked over the younger Jules Strongbow. Tony talks about trying to get a medical update on both men before the end of the evening. Jules turns the tide with a big boot to the face on a mis-que. Eventually, Jay gets tagged in and with a Samoan Drop to get the win. Time: 9:01 Winners: The Strongbow’s COMMERCIAL BREAK 5 NWA World Six-Man Tag Team Title Match Mr. Pogo, Mr. Saito & Toru Tanaka vs Bruce, Keith & Owen Hart © The brothers from Canada are really on fire tonight. They can’t be stopped, and this is easily the most dominant they are looked since coming to the NWA and Mid Atlantic. All three are able to best their opponents, with the finish being Keith picking up the win after an airplane spin into a nice cradle to pin Pogo. Time: 7:39 Winners: Still champions, The Hart Brothers COMMERCIAL BREAK 6 NWA World Tag Team Title Match (2 out of 3 Falls) The Bolsheviks (w/ Paul Jones) vs The Fantastic’s © Just as the bell rings, Boris and Nikolai go for a big hug in the ring. Rogers and Fulton dropkick the two together. Nikolai falls to the floor as Rogers rolls up Boris in a school boy and they get the quick fall! One fall to the champions in the first 10 seconds! The challengers collect themselves on the floor with Paul Jones. He is screaming at the referee for allowing that to happen. The second falls begins. The challenger’s climb into the ring and Nikolai is hot. He uses his bulk and power to pull Bobby Fulton into his corner and the Russian’s begin to do their work. They keep Bobby in their corner and just pound away. Lots of kicks, punches, and forearms. They are tagging in and out quickly as well. A few more power moves to keep Fulton down. The Bolsheviks are building their confidence back up. They have Fulton hurt. Nikolai has Fulton up in the backbreaker. Before he can drop him, Rogers rushes into the ring and dropkicks Volkoff. Fulton crashes to the mat. Zhukov is able to get the tag, and Fulton is caught in the corner. Boris rushes in, Fulton is able to sneak under his legs with a baseball slide move and then quickly tags Tommy Rogers. Tommy quickly runs across the ring and dropkicks Volkoff off the apron. He climbs the second rope and leaps with a big time back elbow to the face. He tries a cover, but doesn’t get the three. Volkoff slides into the ring, but as he gets to his feet, both champions nail him with a big double-clothesline. Nikolai falls to the mat and to the outside. Fulton tries to clothesline Boris, but Zhukov ducks. Rogers tries for a cross-body block, but Boris catches him. Boris stumbles backwards, Fulton gets behind him and makes Boris trip over him, Rogers falls on top of him and they get the three count for the win! Time: 14:57 Winners: Still champions, 2-0, The Fantastic’s! COMMERCIAL BREAK 7 NWA United States Title Match Killer Khan vs Magnum TA © Khan attacks before the bell and goes crazy. Tommy Young is assigned to the main event of the evening. Khan is violent and offensive. He’s over-powering the champion in the early moments of the match. Tony and David get word that Kendall was stitched up in the first aid room. Superstar was sent to a local hospital to have more tests done. COMMERCIAL BREAK 8 As we return to the match, Magnum has started to gain some momentum. He’s battling back a bit, getting some good strikes in, but as soon as he gets close to try to wrestle the challenger down, Khan takes advantage again. But as we get longer into the match, Khan is slowing down. His power moves are still devastating, but they aren’t getting the job done. Magnum is hurt, but you can see the fight in him. Magnum wiggles from a big slam,and pushes Khan away, as Khan approaches again, Magnum just jumps onto him and nails a few hard punches. Khan goes down but is able to push off the champion. Both men climb to their feet, Khan is exhausted, Magnum has his second or third wind. He starts to kick and punch at the challenger. Khan cuts off the champion with a shot to the throat. Tommy Young gets up in his face and admonishes him for the cheap shot. Khan just pushes past Tommy, as Tommy stumbles into the ropes. Magnum with a football tackle sending both men into the ropes and Young falls onto the mat. Khan gets up to his feet, Magnum does also. Khan rushes Magnum but TA catches him with a belly-to-belly suplex! There is no referee. Tommy Young is back on his feet, and he slides into the ring. He only gets a two-count as too much time has gone by after the suplex. Magnum gets to his feet, Khan starts up as well. Tommy seems to be ok. Khan swings with a big fist, Magnum ducks and nails a second belly-to-belly suplex! Another cover, 1-2-3! Time: 21:24 Winner: Still champion, Magnum TA November 23, 1984 World Wide Wrestling TV Taping Richmond, VA Richmond Coliseum Bob Caudle and Johnny Weaver are at ringside and discuss this week’s World Championship Wrestling show that took place on Thanksgiving night. They will continue to discuss that show through today’s show. The Moondogs (w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink) defeated Jim Powers & Pete Sanchez Humperdink grabs the microphone from Weaver and tells the audience that his boys will be the next World Champions. COMMERCIAL BREAK 1 Salvatore Bellomo defeated Swede Hanson During this contest, Bob tells the view audience that Kendall Windham was stitched up at the arena during W.C.W. and that he won’t miss any ring time. However, they are not so sure about Superstar Graham. There will be a medical update on him next week. COMMERCIAL BREAK 2 Sweet Diamond Ebony and Mr. Wrestling II went to a double DQ. Many officials rush out to break these two up. COMMERCIAL BREAK 3 NWA World Champion Ric Flair (w/ JJ Dillon) defeated Paul Roma in a non-title match. The announcer’s put over the fact that the World Champion is wrestling on TV. That rarely happens. Easy victory for the champ as we sign off for the week. END OF TAPING The Bolsheviks & The Moondogs defeated The Strongbows and The Vachons in 8-man tag tea action. Killer Khan defeated Pedro Morales NWA World Six-Man Tag Team Title Match The Hart Brothers defeated Mr. Fuji, Mr. Saito & Toru Tanaka to retain the titles. I am already wondering who in next in line if the injury is serious. Killer Khan is fun. This week’s show is from the very venue that Starrcade will be at in less than one month’s time. Magnum TA is out to speak with both men. Tony asks Magnum how he is feeling after the beating from two weeks ago and last week’s tough title defense against Killer Khan. TA says he is bruised and sore, but otherwise he’s doing just fine. He told everyone when he won this US title that he would be a fighting champion and that is just what he is. TA says that he is focused on the next challenge, and that is fighting his former mentor. He doesn’t know what brought on the attack from two weeks ago, but he plans on getting revenge for it at Starrcade as he defends the United States Championship against Mr. Wrestling II. Magnum just said that he will get sweet revenge and hopefully beat some sense into his former mentor. Mr. Saito & Toru Tanaka (w/ Mr. Fuji) defeated Steve Lombardi & Swede Hanson in 4:26 after a senton splash from Saito onto Lombardi. Fuji grabs the announcers ringside microphone and said that his monster might not be here this week, but he’s training in the greatest country in the world, Japan, and that next week, he will be back to show Andre why Kokina is the greatest Giant in the sport. COMMERCIAL BREAK 1 The Hart Brothers defeated Paul Roma, Jim Powers & Terry Gibbs During this match, Tony and David talk about all three Hart Brothers entering the big time 2-ring battle royal at Starrcade COMMERCIAL BREAK 2 We return to Tony standing with David at the set. No other manager can say that. No other group of highly talented individuals can say that. 24-Karat is truly the best in the business. They will continue to prove that at Starrcade. COMMERCIAL BREAK 7 Magnum TA defeated Gary Royal in 3:27. Mr Wrestling II rushes to the ring, but doesn’t get in. He just stares down the champion as we go off the air. WCW TV TAPING ENDS Great Kokina wins a 20-man battle royal in the dark match main event. November 29, 1984 (Airing 12/2) World Wide Wrestling TV Taping Raleigh, NC Dorton Arena We are welcomed to World Wide Wrestling by Bob Caudle and Johnny Weaver. They show a graphic of the upcoming matches for tonight. As they are about to send it to the ring, Paul Jones interrupts. His man Mr Wrestling II steps into the ring. Paul says that anything Magnum TA can do, II can do better. He says that on World Championship Wrestling, Magnum beat this scrub in 3:20, so Mr. Wrestling II will beat him in less time. Mr. Wrestling II defeated Gary Royal in 2:59. COMMERCIAL BREAK 1 Butcher & Mad Dog Vachon defeated Steve Lombardi & Dennis Stamp in 9:56. COMMERCIAL BREAK 2 Pat Patterson (w/ JJ Dillon) defeated Salvatore Bellomo in 3:27. Bob Caudle and Johnny Weaver discuss the recent inclusion of Lutte Internationale into the NWA. They want to show you a little bit of action from a recent TV show. Falls Count Anywhere Match Carlos Colon vs George “The Animal” Steele Frenchy Martin is conspicuous by his absence yet again but this time, it’s because he’ll be involved in a 6-Men Tag Team Match later on today. Once again, this goes all over the place in the studio and the fact that Frenchy Martin isn’t there to direct traffic for The Animal makes him even more unpredictable as not even the referee can stop him to do whatever he wants. The finish comes when George Steele rams Carlos Colon’s arm in a hammerlock position twice on the ring post and then hits his Hammerlock Slam on the floor outside to secure the victory. Winner: George “The Animal” Steele COMMERCIAL BREAK 3 Killer Khan (w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink) defeated Tiger Chung Lee in 90 seconds. After the match, Sir Oliver Humperdink grabs the house microphone and says that his man, Killer Khan is officially in the battle royal at Starrcade and everyone….EVERYONE should be worried. END OF TV TAPING NWA Television Title Match Tully Blanchard defeated Blackjack Mulligan in a Bullrope Match to retain the title.
