Odd pairing here. Match starts out fast and furious with no wasted motion. Sabu gains the early advantage and goes to his table retrieving routine. The match routine really relies on interference on the outside to gain CW the advantage. Sabu’s matches feel so helter skelter pace wise now and so dependent on the weapons that a lot of the success and failure results in if the spots are hit cleanly. CW gets a spinebuster through the table and Sabu is able to kick out of that. Triple jump moonsault is less cleanly but still enough for Sabu to gain the victory. A unique pairing but a fairly scattered sprint. **1/4

 

 

[Loss]

Not much to the match. I like CW Anderson, but Sabu probably isn't the ideal opponent for him to get over, and I don't think Lou E. Dangerously particularly helps him. ECW may not be the ideal company either, I don't know. I'm interested to see how he's used the rest of the year.

[Migs]

I liked this about as much as the match with Spike (albeit this got a little less time to develop). Not sure if it's the shorter length, or accumulated injuries, but it worked in both matches for Sabu to work a slightly toned down style, with fewer high spots that required less setup.

 

CW is someone who really got caught at the wrong place, wrong time, I think - he was in the WCW Power Plant guy, and if it had been 5 years earlier, he'd have made a great WCW mid-card guy. He could have had some darn good ten minute TV matches at Center Stage. As it stands, he never quite worked in ECW, despite the attempt to move him up the card later in the year.

[GSR]

When you are calling the spots before they happen you know something is up! Bar the finish, this appeared to be the exact same match they did in Orlando on 1/29. CW breaking clean and Sabu drilling him with a right, springboard tornado DDT, Frankensteiner off the top, dive out the ring onto Lou E. and Bill Whiles, Lou’s distraction and CW’s superkick, second Frankensteiner off the top but CW crotching Sabu instead, spinebuster through the tables, hard chair shots to CW and Bill and Sabu going to put Lou through a table but CW pushing him off and getting legdropped through himself. The lone difference was Sabu getting the pin after the triple jump moonsault instead of the Arabian facebuster.

 

I felt this match flowed much better than the one in Orlando which came across as just a bunch of spots, but I don’t think these are the most ideal opponents for one another.
