Tracy Smothers is here and he is shooting! He doesn’t like bookers, promoters or human beings period. Smothers claimed he can whip any guy in WWF, WCW, and ECW. Tracy shows his side as being super glued and his ear which had 30 stitches removed. Ouch. They end up cutting Tracy off and we come back from break with Tracy in the middle of the ring. Nick Dinsmore is back and Tracy runs through his THUG routine. Dinsmore charges the ring and we have a match with Tracy in a collared shirt, jean, and snake skin boots. Really fun brawl that breaks down when Tracy hits a low blow and he goes nuts on everyone inside the ring with chairs and his boot. Looking forward to Tracy throughout the 2000’s. **1/2

We haven't been tracking promos, but if anyone has cut a better promo in 2000 than Tracy Smothers cut before this match, I'll eat my hat. This was a hell of a match. It was short, but awesome. Tracy Smothers sort of looked like the best guy in wrestling here, working in street clothes and doing a masterful heel performance, wrestling with intensity and making Dinsmore look great while also looking like a killer himself. Great pre-match and post-match booking, great wrestling and one of the all-time great short matches in my mind. ***1/2

This is worth watching for the pre-match promo alone. Smothers is awesome on the mic and plays a great bitter and slightly delusional heel here. The match is fun too. A little on the short side, but is good and effective tv wrestling. Smothers is going to be fun to watch this year.

Tracy's promos on Power Pro are the highlight of this 2000 project for me so far. This was really good stuff and Tracy taking the boot off to use it as a weapon made me try and remember the last time I've actually seen anyone do that.

Watching Dinsmore though, I find it hard to understand why people in the early 2000s kept talking about how they couldn't understand why he hadn't been called up from developmental & then the lamenting that he got put in the Eugene gimmick. He has such a basic colorless look & character in this match and in OVW that it's obvious why he had to get a Eugene type gimmick before he could have a place on the main roster. And Eugene would have been a great gimmick for him to make merchandise money off of if HHH hadn't been so adverse to hearing crowds cheer babyfaces from 2002-2004 and felt the need to kill the character's momentum.

After a rambling promo, we get an impromptu match between Smothers and Dinsmore. They started out with some fast paced brawling that ended up outside before returning to the ring for a more regular match. Smothers low blows Dinsmore, hits him with a boot, and piledrives him on a chair. Then he attacks the ref and piledrives him. Smothers is able to effectively get across his somewhat deranged character, and Dinsmore is decent enough as the babyface. Fun tv match.

Dave Brown and Corey Maclin are running down some local events when they’re interrupted by Tracey Smothers. Dave questions what he’s doing out here and Smothers tells him that it’s none of his business. He’s got a real bad attitude today; he doesn’t like bookers, promoters, referees, the office and human beings period! He’s been in this sport 16 years, started right in this ring here, but has been held back and had nothing but the shaft for 16 years. He could whip anyone in WCW, WWF or ECW, and if you ask them they’ll tell you! He’s paid his dues and can’t even get a job pulling the ring! The WWF screwed him, ECW screwed him, WCW screwed him and now Power Pro’s screwed him. He drew money for Randy Hales but now he’s booking people who couldn’t sell out a phone booth. Guys feel a little sick or get their bell rung and won’t wrestle, while he’s had 18 concussions, stitches in his head, cracked ribs, a punctured lung, broken his ankle and never missed a date. If someone doesn’t like what he’s saying he’s not hard to find. He’s here to get a job, he led the Smoky Mountain charge when they feuded with the USWA and has been fired from more territories than most guys have ever worked (at this point the show goes to a commercial break).

We return from the advertisements and Smothers is sat on a chair in the ring, and Dave says how they cut the interview as Tracey was just ranting and raving and not making much sense. Nick Dinsmore comes out and says that he has no beef with Tracey Smothers, but he drove 450 miles to be here and he’s not going to hold the show hostage. If he wants a fight, he’ll give him one.

Smothers is in regular clothes as opposed to his wrestling gear for this match, which actually felt more like one long angle to me. A really nice Northern Lights suplex from Dinsmore and a dropkick off the top for a two. Smothers charges Dinsmore, who ducks out the way, and Tracey goes flying through the ropes to the floor. They start fighting on the floor and referee Robert Brisco gets between them. There looked to be a timing issue on the finish as Smothers had got back in the ring, followed by Dinsmore, and Brisco rang for the bell. Dave Brown said it was for a low blow, but the low blow came after Brisco had already called for the bell. Smothers waffles Dinsmore with his cowboy boot after the match, gives him a modified ‘Van Daminator’ and then a piledriver on the chair. A chair shot to Dinsmore, one to Brisco and then a piledriver for him too.

Smothers’ pre-match promo was tremendous and the post-match attack on Dinsmore and the referee was great, I just didn’t care for what was in between. My first look at Nick Dinsmore and he is a solid, more than capable worker, but at the same time is bland and pretty generic.

Tracy by god Smothers. He cuts the same promo he always does but it's still a great promo. I liked Dinsmore here. Much better than what I've seen of him in OVW around this time. Tracy takes out Dinsmore and the ref after the match. Good little impromptu match and especially impressive with Smothers working in cowboy boots. Smothers career in 2000 was interesting, Here, ECW, WCW, Memphis championship wrestling. Hell of a run.
