Has wrestling gone overboard with the various streaming services?

Don't get a Roku Express if you can manage it. It's slow and laggy like the very early Roku boxes were. Spend the extra $20 (less if you get the 2016 model) and get the Roku Streaming Stick.

I haven’t had any issues with mine so far, but obviously you’re not paying for a high-end piece of equipment for $29.99.

From what I understand, iwa mid south booked Elgin for a powerbomb stream show. This pissed off co founder of powerbomb Adam lash who requested they not air that show. His partners disagreed and they let him go from powerbomb. Now people are angry and unsubscribing from powerbomb.

Also, I haven't seen it, but apparently, Ian Rotten put out a statement saying he specifically booked Elgin to spite the backlash.

I do not pretend to know the inner workings between the founders. I read the thing Lash posted on Twitter and he struck me as overwrought, not that I blame him for wanting to steer clear of the Elgin mess. Do we actually know the other partners were vehement? Or did they just feel Elgin was not a big enough deal for them to cross Smart Mark? Really, no one comes off as terribly sympathetic.

It's not just running the Elgin stream, it's vehemently arguing to run the stream and getting rid of their business partner who thinks it's a horrible idea and gave all the arguments to why.

This. Along with the story about how they aren't going to be Adam for months upon months worth of work that he's done for Powerbomb.tv because of all this.

If people want to keep subscribing too, whatever for them. I want places like Beyond to make money. However, I am out. Their defense of the companies we stream can do whatever they want, we give them full control is a bullshit argument.

I guess that speaks to what I meant. You have this cool idea that seems to be gaining steam with a whole bunch of worthy companies on board. And you jeopardize the whole thing over fucking Michael Elgin and Ian Rotten? Absurd.

IIRC wasn't Trauma II accused of kidnapping and raping his girlfriend? Did anyone care about his matches being streamed? How about Ian himself, who has done many a rotten thing, including paying recovering addicts in drugs? Will people unsubscribe to NJPW World, the WWE Network etc. because of the scummy things some of the workers there have done? If they give in, they might aswell start deleting a quarter of their library. I guess this is a recency bias towards recent scummy things that may or may not have happened.

Whataboutism is the worst.

We want streaming services to refuse to air a show with a guy on it who has done nothing criminal and is just a dick? How many wrestling shows could be streamed if we really knew the lives of all the wrestlers?

It depends on how big a Tito Santana fan you are.

Tito can't work alone.

I can't imagine Elgin even ranking in a top ten of worst people to ever work for IWA MS. I mean you can talk about "whataboutism" or something. But its hard to see how one thinks its okay to work with Ian Rotten but Elgin is just a bridge too far.

So it's been over a year since this thread was created. What streaming services is everyone still registered to?

I have the WWE Network, Powerbomb.TV, Highspots Wrestling Network and I signed up to NJPW World today. These are the four I plan on keeping as there's more than enough between these four for me stick around and not have to change my subscriptions.

Edit: In 4 hours I had already cancelled NJPW World as I didn't really dig the current product and I cancelled Powerbomb.TV because I noticed I was mainly using it just to watch assorted matches from Beyond and old IWA-MS and CZW shows and the Highspots Wrestling Network has a ton of old IWA-MS and CZW shows and I don't think paying $10 a month for a random Beyond match here and there is worth it.

I just have NJPW World for now, many others look great though but I've never pulled the trigger on signing up for more although I came close with STARDOM but realized my schedule doesn't have time to squeeze it in to really get the full value.

I just don't have enough time to watch all the wrestling available out there especially with all the older content I've been collecting and going through although with all the gems I see people discussing on here it's always tempting haha.

My heart says I've got to see it all! but my wallet says I can't spend the equivalent of a monthly cable subscription on wrestling networks and then sit and watch all of it when I could be out earning money I need to keep a roof over my head. Plus my significant other isn't a fan and they barely put up with my obsession as it is :P

I'm glad for all the younger fans though, they have such a variety of content to watch. If I was 10 years younger I'd have been all over this in a heartbeat with multiple subscriptions and wrestling marathons.

I rarely have the time to watch full shows anymore -- except for EVOLVE and WWE PPV's which I can watch in full because my wife luckily is a fan and watches them. I took my wife with me to an NXT Live show three years ago and she became a fan so she watches RAW, SDL and the PPV's, so I just watch them with her and she accompanies me to the MLW and indie shows I get to go to (and she's also a football fan so she also goes with me to Orlando City games and watches the games with me on TV) and we have a blast together.

From the streaming services I got, I just check the cards when they add new stuff and just go and watch the matches on their that intrigue me which is usually one or two matches per card.

I do a lot of my watching at work as it's been really slow for the past 3 weeks, so I have at least 6 hours to watch stuff.
