I have no idea who the Convict is. A search on Cagematch and I still have no idea who this guy is. Necro empties out the grocery cart and Convict pounces on him when he enters. Entering into competiton with mr. Hughes as toughest gear to work in is Convict who remains handcuffed throughout the entire match. Two fun garbage brawls for Necro with no names in two months. This included some unique weaponry. Martial Law is an interesting second as hes not a manager for Necro persay but he is there to ensure Convict doesn’t escape the venue. Convict busts out a really good looking dropkick off the turnbuckle to the floor. Martial Law gets decked with a trash can shot but then takes it out on Convict by holding him for Necro to do his wild tope to the floor. Convicts beats on Necro on the floor and he is really wounded heading back into the ring. Necro is able to gain some distance with some headbutts and takes the opportunity to go for his powerbomb. Martial Law uses that moment to attack Necro as we then get a cut screen and learn from Promoter Ken Taylor that the final nine seconds of this match were too violent to be shown on tv. It is a bait and switch to a degree but it was a nice old school change of pace that I enjoyed to a degree. ***

Working a match that goes almost 15 minutes while handcuffed is pretty damned impressive, especially when it's a competent match. Still, I prefer brawling that's more focused on hate and intensity than unique weapons, so this really wasn't my thing. I do think Necro's self-sacrifice can make this kind of dumb stuff compelling in an odd way, and people who like crazy weapons brawls will probably like this as something well-worked within that style, but it's just not really for me. He gets better later, but right now Necro is a bit Nise Mick Foley, only with face paint. I'm guessing the final nine seconds were something they couldn't show for fear of losing their TV, but I have no clue what it could have been. It could have even been a work to cover for damaged tape. FYI, the NWA Southwest dries up here, and we won't see Necro again in 2000.

Convict 00187 is wearing what looks like a gimp mask and he’s bought to the ring under armed guard in order to try and prevent another escape attempt. Match is for Necro’s Texas Hardcore title and the Butcher is wheeling a cart full of weapons out with him which he empties into the ring. The Convict jumps Necro and he’s got his wrists shackled together which should make for an interesting match if it’s going to stay that way. The two of them exchange slaps and forearns with neither man backing down. Necro with a stop sign to the head before placing it over The Convict’s groin and striking it with a baseball bat. As he goes to hit him with a computer monitor, Convict gets in first with a boot to the mid-section and uses some of Necro’s weapons against him. More weapon shots and Necro drops the shopping cart on his opponent. Ice Hockey stick to the groin and kendo stick up the ass as the commentator quips “don’t tell me The Convict isn’t used to that maneuver!” The Convict uses his shackles to choke the Butcher and then applies something that loosely resembles a cross armbar/triangle. Necro with a short powerbomb onto a chair to break the hold. He tosses The Convict to the outside and Marshall Law (the official who had bought him to ringside to make sure he doesn’t escape), then puts the boots to him and beats him with his baton. We’re informed that the Department of Corrections officer is only there to make sure The Convict doesn’t escape and couldn’t care less if he wins or loses. Necro throws him back inside, but when he goes to get back in himself he’s met with a pair of dropkicks and tumbles back to the arena floor. Missile dropkick off the middle turnbuckle to the outside! The Convict wears a trash can lid out over the Butcher’s head with Necro encouraging him on to do it again. Marshall accidentally gets nailed with the trash can by ‘his own man’, which again leads to him attacking The Convict. As the two of them are having words, Necro with a cannonball off the top to the floor, although with an awkward looking landing right on his neck. That one could’ve hurt for real by how slowly he’s moving after it. Pescado by The Convict and Marshall is now laying into Necro with his nightstick as the TV show goes off the air.

A lot of this was pretty bad as they were just hitting each other with the weapons and that was it. Don’t know how much of that was down to the constraints of one man wrestling in shackles or not though? That missile dropkick was impressive mind! Liked the idea of Marshall Law as this rogue DOC who would attack the man that he’s in charge of looking after. Again, like the Biohazard match, they tried to get over the idea of Necro liking pain with him encouraging Convict to keep hitting him with the trash can lid, although it wasn’t emphasised as heavily here. Nasty looking bump off the cannonball right near the end.

This felt like very sleazy indie wrestling. Like KAW style without racist Jamie Dundee promos. I gotta give Convict props for wrestling the match in handcuffs and doing crazy shit like dives. Necro was still green but that dive he did to the outside where he lands on his head was nuts. Not very good and the finish was lame.

The Convict reminds me of a 1990's opening card from Puerto Rico called el Ex-Convicto 308 who feuded with la Ley de Puerto Rico. He wasn't nutty enough to working an extensive match in handcuffs though. Aside from the Convict here, Darby Allin in his match against Ethan Page in EVOLVE this year maybe the only other dude I think I've seen work an entire match handcuffed.

Convict was managed by a guy called Martial Law who attacked him every time he was on the outside of the ring... That's not good...

Necro was working as a wildman back then, but he still hadn't evolved into the wildman he would turn within 4 years. He brings a ton of junk to the ring and for all we know, that maybe the same junk he's used in other death matches. I know there's a big ol' monitor there, but Necro doesn't get smashed in the mouth with it, nor does he smash Convict in the mouth with it ala IWA-MS KOTDM against Toby Klein.

I liked how the Convict worked within the limitations of being handcuffed. He definitely made the use out of it possible by using them to bruise up Necro's face with the chain on them. aside from that, there wasn't much else I liked.

This was pretty trashy and felt like a garbage match from a JCW show in someones barn. Not enough brawling and more so excessive use of weapons.

We don't get to see the end of it, as they air a video of the promoter pretty much putting the match over as being too violent for the viewers and he opts to cut it off before hand. Lame.
