WRESTLING:

3/15/1986

TUPELO, MISSISSIPPI

THE SPORTS ARENA

The following are notes by Bill Apter who was in attendance for both Crossfire and Power Pro

NWA CHAMPION RICK MARTEL VS UWF CHAMPION NIKITA KOLOFF

Rick Martel was on the show tonight hyping up his World Title Match this Monday in the Mid-South Coliseum against none other than UWF Champion Nikita Koloff. Nikita and Ivan interrupted the interview and forced Lance Russell to show the video tape from last week’s match between Nikita and Jerry “the King” Lawler where for the second time in two weeks, Nikita defeated the King cleanly.

Ivan reminds Martel that the last time he was in the UWF, he could not beat Jerry Lawler and that come this Monday we will see both the stupid Americans and the stupid Canadians crying as Nikita will crush Martel and be both the NWA and UWF Champion!

Martel becomes sick of this talk and challenges Nikita to a match right now and heads to the ring. Nikita is more than happy to follow and we get two minutes of a wild brawl in which we see Martel duck under the Russian Sickle and come off with a crossbody block. Before the ref can even count to 1, Ivan hits the ring and the Russians do some boot stomping on the Champ. A commercial break was needed to restore order.

WAHOO McDANIEL VS COWBOY DON BASS

Wahoo McDaniel has a pretty good match tonight against Cowboy Don Bass that saw it turn into a big brawl where Wahoo went on the War Path and tomahawk chopped his way to victory.

At the interview desk, we see a video tape from last week’s Continental Title Match from the Omni where Wahoo and champion “Dirty” Dick Slater had their match in a double count-out as they brawled all over the arena. We are informed that the UWF has sanctioned a rematch between the two for this week in the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham.

Wahoo McDaniel spends the next minute or two surprisingly praising Dick Slater and how tough he is. He goes over to the ring and grabs a box he had stashed before his match with Don Bass and says he has a gift for Slater because he has such respect for his toughness. He continues to praise Slater as a Man’s Man and wants Slater to come out.

Eventually Slater does come out but he is very cautious of Wahoo and his gift. Slater shakes the box, smells the box and does his best to figure out what is inside. Eventually Slater opens the “gift” and pulls out a dress.

Wahoo McDaniel: Just a little something to show you what I think of your fighting ability.

Slater is fuming and comes after Wahoo but he is so mad, he is swinging wildly and misses each time. Wahoo however doesn’t miss and chops Slater with some big overhand rights. Slater eventually goes down and Wahoo has a great laugh as he puts the dress on “Dirty” Dick.

TONY ATLAS VS MIKE GRAHAM

Even though Graham cannot match the power of Atlas, he is a good bumper and the match has a lot of juice. One distraction by Ernie Ladd was all it took to push Atlas over the top. While Lance Russell was amazed that Graham did not submit to the Bearhug, he could not kick out after the Gorilla Press Slam.

Atlas and Ladd are joined by the rest of the Nation of Domination at the interview desk where we see the video of the final moments of Reed’s rematch with Lex Luger for the Southern States title that ended in a victory for Lex. The video showed an attempted trip by Ladd on Luger and then the ref admonishing him for his actions. This gave Baby Doll all the time she needed as the Perfect 10 came in and hit Reed with a low blow. Luger followed it up Lex Plex for the victory.

Reed and Ladd were both furious at Baby Doll for getting involved but Lance tried to remind Ladd that he started it. All of a sudden Jerry Jarrett comes out and informs lets everyone know that the Nation of Domination will be getting another shot at Luger and the Southern States titles.

Hacksaw Reed begins to let everyone know what he will do to Luger this time when Jarrett interrupts by saying that this week in the Mid-South Coliseum it will be Lex Luger vs Tony Atlas.

Reed looks shocked but doesn’t know what to say. Ladd quickly shifts gears and acts like Atlas is the Man of the Nation of Domination. Could there be trouble in Paradise for this hated group?

ROCK n ROLL EXPRESS VS TOM STONE & KEN MITCHELL

The crowd explodes at the first chord of Rock n Roll All Night as the beloved team has been away for a while. A rather smooth 4 minute match here that sees the famous double dropkick for the victory.

At the interview desk, Morton and Gibson announce that they are glad to be back in the UWF and waste no time in calling out the NWA National Champs, the Midnight Express, as they say that Cornette and his tactics are one of the big reasons they are back in the area. The let Lance know that they have been watching on TV and they just can’t take Cornett’s actions any longer.

Later in the show, after a nice showcase victory by The Midnight Express over the Dixie Dynamites, Cornette, Eaton and Condrey all take turns claiming that the Rock n Roll Express have to earn an NWA National title shot.

TOMMY RICH VS BUDDY LANDEL

Landel, one of the Hollywood Blondes, comes into the ring in a fancy robe and sunglasses looking all dapper. His arrogance quickly turns to the scarred heel and Wildfire takes the early advantage. Landell gets to wrestle from the top for a few minutes before Rich makes the comeback and is on the verge of victory after the Lou Thesz Press.

Before the ref completes the 3 count, the other Hollywood Blondes, Rip Oliver and Rip Rogers hit the ring. After a few minutes of the 3-1 attack, Landell goes for his latest signature heel move, the Tar and Feathering of Wildfire.

Lance is in shock as young Jeff Jarrett has seen enough and leaves the interview desk to save Wildfire. The Hollywood Blondes simply tossed Rich through the ropes to the floor and changed their foe to Jarrett. Jarrett doesn’t have a chance in the World here as the Blondes quickly Tar and Feather the boss’s son. Wrestlers rush out too late as the Blondes escape and Jeff is flat on his back looking like a giant chicken!

After a commercial break, Tommy Rich is at the interview desk fuming. He wants the Hollywood Blondes at in a match right now. A kind of cleaned up Jeff comes out and says that he is grateful for the help but he needs to fight his own battles. His father comes out and tries to have Jeff understand he is too young for this business but Jeff is having nothing to do with it. Finally, we find out that it will be Jeff Jarrett vs Buddy Landell this week in the Mid-South Coliseum.

THE UWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, THE ROAD WARRIORS DESTROY THE MEMPHIS BRUISE BROTHERS (PORKCHOP CASH & MAD DOG BOYD)

At the interview desk, Animal, Hawk and Ellering take turns explaining how they have had trouble sleeping since the Crockett Cup and can’t stop thinking about what they will do to the NWA Tag Champions, Ole & Arn Anderson when they get their hands on them.

BIG BUBBA OTTMAN WITH RON WRIGHT DESTROYS KING BROWN IN LESS THAN 1 MINUTE WITH A GIANT SPLASH

Ron Wright is so excited with the signing of his new 400 pounder that he can barely contain himself. He now claims that with Big Bubba and Baron Von Raschke he can’t be stopped and he will soon rid the UWF of the Unchristian Armstrongs. He seems pleased that Steve Armstrong already seems to be gone!

THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR WITH PAUL ELLERING DEFEATS THE MASKED AVENGER (Ed Wiskowski) WITH THE WARRIORS SMASH!

EXOTIC ADRIAN STREET WITH MISS. LINDA PRANCES HIS WAY TO VICTORY OVER IRON MIKE SHARPE WITH THE SLEEPER.

When the ref demands that he wake up Iron Mike he seems disgusted by Iron Mike and doesn’t want to touch him. Miss. Linda sprays Sharpe with the perfume and then Adrian slaps him back to this world. At the interview desk, we get a little insight into Exotic Adrian as he seems to be a fan favorite as he claims to be much better looking than any of the Hollywood Blondes.

STEVE “DR. DEATH WILLIAMS & THE BARBARIAN WITH SKANDAR AKBAR VS RON WHIPWRECK & AL DILLENGER

While Dr. Death appears to have two black eyes and a bandage on one hand and another on his ribs, this is one of the scariest tag teams the UWF has seen to date as Devastation Inc completely runs over their opponents. From the football tackle on Whipwreck to the diving headbutt on Dillenger, these two were lucky to walk out of the ring.

At the interview desk, Akbar is all over the UWF officials for allowing a Lights Out Match last week against Terry Gordy. We see a quick tape of the end of the match where we get a bit of a Rocky scene with each man landing haymaker after haymaker. As the bell rings signaling a time limit draw, both men, bloodied, just collapse in the center of the ring.

After the tape, Dr. Death is next to get on the UWF officials for allowing Gordy to interfere in his title match which now has resulted in a 6 month ban from singles title matches. Williams quickly changes focus and now he is excited because the UWF has never seen a tag team like Dr. Death and the Barbarian and they will not stop until they take the tag titles from the Road Warriors.

Any thoughts on the format. I was and will be pressed for time for a bit.

Format's fine. Very readable.

I always used to read the Apter mags back in the mid-80s.

Your tag team division is on fire right now, with the Roadies vs Andersons in full swing, RnR vs MX coming up, and now Doc and Barbie forming a truly terrifying team.

Yea the format was fun to read. RnR Express are back! Man I cant wait for the inevitable RR/Midnite feud. The Martel/Nikita set up was great. I would buy a ticket off that. The Rich/Blondes feud should be a lot of fun especially since Jarrett is involved now. Nice subtle moment between Atlas/Ladd and Reed, interested to see where that goes. Dr. Death teaming with the Barbarian is one powerhouse team, should be a tough task for the Road Warriors. Street and Miss Linda were great tonight. Awesome set up between Wahoo and Slater.

Easy to read format.

Great new tag team in Barb/Doc. They should go far. I liked Jarrett getting tarred and feathered and fully expect Jerry Jarrett to mete out some justice before Jeff can. The Nation is in trouble and I hope some of the babyfaces smell the blood in the water. Great setup for the World title match, but for me Wahoo putting the dress on Slater was the big highlight.

Only thing I'd do different is bold the match title rather than ALL CAPS. But that is just a personal preference. Good job getting Martel and Nikita ready for the big stage. My money is on Nikita to take the title and be the man in the NWA. There is no better time than now for him. 86 was a great year for him. He's had a Hogan feud. He is in the limelight. NOW IS THE TIME FOR MOTHER RUSSIA!

MAJOR UWF SHOWS FOR THE WEEK OF 3/15 /86

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE: MID-SOUTH COLISEUM

Big Bubba Ottman with Ron Right defeated Dixie Dynamite #1 with a Big Slash

Exotic Adrian Street with Miss. Linda defeated Larry Cheatem with a Sleeper.

Shaska Whatley with Ernie Ladd defeated Mike Graham when he followed up Ladd’s Big Boot with a Top Rope Diving Headbut.

Jeff Jarrett shocked everyone by defeating Buddy Landell. Landell controlled the entire match but was a little too cocky when he went for the Figure 4 and got caught in a roll up by Jarrett.

Brad Armstrong defeats Ivan Koloff with the Russian Legsweep

Hacksaw Butch Reed defeated Scott Hall with the help of a Big Boot from Ernie Ladd.

SOUTHERN STATES TITLE MATCH: STEEL CAGE: Lex Luger defeated Mr. USA Tony Atlas after Luger somehow powered out after a Gorilla Press Slam by Atlas and later he caught the challenger in the Lex Plex. It was Hacksaw Butch Reed who came down and threw in the white towel. Atlas did not look at all pleased.

NWA WORLD TITLE MATCH: Rick Martel and Nikita Koloff wrestle to a double countout as they were brawling on the outside. As soon as the ref called for the bell, Ivan got involved and they rolled the champ back into the ring and gave it to him pretty good. All of a sudden, the crowd exploded as none other the Magnum TA hit the ring. He quickly caught Ivan in a belly to belly suplex. Nikita came over with a stomp to the midsection. Nikita than hit the ropes coming off for the Russian Sickle. TA ducks under and catches the Russian Nightmare in another belly to belly suplex! This is the first time since he arrived on the UWF that Nikita was the one left flat on his back in the center of the ring! TA and Martel left the ring to thunderous applause!

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA: THE BOUTWELL AUDITORIUM

The Masked Avenger (Ed Wiskowski) defeated Todd Champion

The Texas Tornados (Kendell Windham & Sam Houston) wrestles Ron Bass & Black Bart to a Double DQ. The action just went completely bonkers and the ref had to call for the bell.

The Ultimate Warrior with Paul Ellering defeated The Barbarian with Skandar Akbar ended in a double count-out as the brawl ended up on the floor. Even both managers got into it.

Dick Murdoch gains some revenge for Jeff Jarrett as he avenged the Tar and Feathering as he beat Rip Oliver with the Brainbuster.

Tommy Rich & Bob Armstrong defeat Big Bubba Ottman & BaronVon Raschke as Ron Wright’s interference backfired and it was actually Wright who got hit with the Jawbreaker. Rich then connected with the the piledriver on Raschke for the win.

NWA NATIONAL TAG TITLE: The Midnight Express with Cornette defeated The Southern Boys when Buddy Landell came out and tripped up Smothers which allowed Bobby Eaton

6 Man Tag Match: The Road Warriors & The Ultimate Warrior defeated Devastation Inc (Steve “Dr. Death” Williams, the Barbarian and the Warlord) with Skandar Akbar as the Warrior caught the Warlord with the Warrior Smash. One thing that was evident here was that Dr. Death and the Barbarian are going to be a serious threat to the Road Warriors and the UWF title!

UWF CONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: (Loser Must Wear a Dress) Wahoo McDaniel defeats Dick Slater by DQ as Slater got caught with the Brass Knuckles in his trunks. Slater was fuming at the ref and refused to put on the dress. Wahoo picked up the brass knuckles, clocked Slater and put the dress on the champ! Wahoo then dragged a dress -wearing Slater all the way back to the locker room!

Are we going to get a tag match between Martel & Magnum and The Russians? I hope so.

I was a little surprised that Devastation Inc lost that match clean, given that the idea is to get Doc & Barbie over as threats to the Road Warriors.

What a debut by Magnum TA!!!! Man I cant wait for Magnum and Nikita to go at it. I agree with Gordi, I would also love to see Magnum and Martel team up against the Russians. Jarrett gets a huge confidence booster with a win over Landell. Looks like we could be heading for an Atlas/Reed explosion. You've done a great job with the building of the Ultimate Warrior and having Paul Ellering by his side is a smart move. I'm sure the Midnights and Southern Boys put on a good match. I cant wait for a Southern Boys/Hollywood Blondes face off. Man, Wahoo is looking tough as he literally drags Slater around in a dress. These two shows really gave the fans their money's worth.

Jarrett getting the win over Landell was big. Magnum's debut was massive! I immediately want that same tag match as gordi. I get the loss for Devastation as Warlord took the pin. Warrior and Barbarian were doing double duty that night. Nation is falling apart and Slater again wearing a dress! I just know Wahoo is going to pay somehow.

3/22/1986

DOTHAN, ALABAMA

THE HOUSTON COUNTY FARM CENTER

  1. MAGNUM TA DEFEATS ALBERT DENNY WITH THE BELLY TO BELLY IN 27 SECONDS

After the match Magnum TA is welcomed to the UWF by both Jim Ross and Cowboy Bill Watts. They then show the video tape of how TA rushed into the ring last Monday night in the Mid-South Coliseum to help the NWA champion Rick Martel who was being attacked by Nikita and Ivan Koloff. Magum TA said that the main reason he has come to the UWF was to get his hands on Nikita. He says that when he was back in MACW, he watched the Crockett Cup and got sick when Nikita took the title off of Jerry “the King” Lawler and when Nikita and Ivan attacked Rick Martel, he couldn’t take it anymore.

All of a sudden, the Koloffs come out and are fuming about being suckered by TA. Ross reminds them that they were the ones who were going after Martel. Ivan and Nikita ignore Jim Ross and start to close in on TA.

WHAM!

From out of nowhere, the NWA Champ, Rick Martel hits the scene and nails Nikita across the head. Now we go a little bonkers as 4 of the biggest stars in all of wrestling go at it in such a wild way that the only way to restore order is a commercial break.

Later in the show, we find out that this Monday it will be Rick Martel & Magnum TA against Ivan & Nikita Koloff in the Jacksonville, Coliseum!

  1. DIRTY DICK SLATER MAKES QUICK WORK OF BRETT SAWYER WITH THE FIGURE 4 AFTER HE ROUGHTS HIM UP PRETTY GOOD WITH THE TAPED FIST

At the interview desk, Slater is really hot after we see the video of Wahoo hitting him with the Brass Knuckles and then putting him in a dress and dragging him out of the arena. Jim Ross reminds everyone that the Brass Knuckles belonged to Slater and it was he who was disqualified. This just seemed to set the Continental Champion off even more.

We find out that that this week in Jacksonville, it will be Slater vs Wahoo in an anything goes Florida Street Fight Match

  1. NWA WORLD TAG TITLE:

We see the Anderson’s by video tape hyping up their title match coming up this week in Mobile, Alabama against the Road Warriors. Not only did the Anderson’s do a great job of putting down the “freaks”, Animal and Hawk but also the people of Alabama.

The Road Warriors responded as only the Road Warriors could and it was obvious that there was no fear there.

  1. LEX LUGER WITH BABY DOLL DEFEATS COWBOY DON BASS WITH THE BACKBREAKER RACK!

Before the match we see highlights of Lex defeating Tony Atlas with the Backbreaker Rack as Nation of Domination member, Hacksaw Butch Reed, threw in the towel. When the video was over, Lance Russell informed us that Tony was going to get another shot in two weeks against Lex.

Ernie Ladd: Mark my words Lance Russell. In two weeks the Southern Championship will be back in the hands of the Nation of Domination. While Lex Luger is in great shape, Tony is Mr. USA. He is bigger. He is stronger. He is faster. He is the better wrestler. And one other thing, if that dirty skank Baby Doll stinks here big nose in the Nation’s business again, she just might find a Bog Boot in her face. Actually, that could help her looks.

Lance Russell: Ok that will be enough of that!

The Nation of Domination stayed out to watch Luger’s match and began to close in on the ring. All of a sudden, the crowd exploded as Dick Murdoch and a Ray Candy comes out to ringside. As Luger pinned Bass, Atlas, Shaska Whatley and Ernie Ladd jumped up on the apron as did Murdoch. Reed seemed very frustrated by the entire thing and headed to the locker room. Once the Nation realized Reed had left, they decided discretion was the better part of valor and headed for the hills. Murdoch and Ray Candy shook hands with Luger as the three seemed to join together in an alliance against Ladd’s Army. Later in the night, we find out that it will be the Nation of Domination vs Luger, Murdoch and Candy this week in Mobile, Alabama!

As we go to break, Lance hypes up Big Ray Candy and lets everyone who is not familiar with him know just how tough he this 6’5, 350-pound behemoth really is and that the Nation better watch out.

  1. ROCK n ROLL EXPRESS DEFEAT THE MEMPHIS BRUISE BROTHERS WITH THE DOUBLE DROPKICK

At the interview desk, Morton and Gibson remind us that they are back in the UWF for one reason and that is to get their hands on Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express. Later in the show, we see Cornette and the Express in a taped interview as Cornette explains that since they are now the NWA National T Team Champions they have such a hectic travel schedule. Cornette says the Rock n Roll Express are so far down the totem pole that they are going to have a long wait before they get a title shot. Cornette tells us that the next time they are in the UWF which will be this Thursday, they are going to be defending their National Titles against some really worthy opponents, the Dixie Dynamites!

Morton and Gibson are upset at this tape and go on to let everyone know that they belief the Midnight Express to be nothing more that cowards parading around as champions. They go on to say that even Cornette can’t duck the Rock n Roll Express forever and even if they have to stoop to their levels, they will find a way to get a NWA National Tag Team shot soon.

  1. JEFF JARRETT VS BUDDY LANDELL

Landel, is out at the interview desk demanding a match right now against Jeff Jarrett. He wants to prove that Jarrett’s win in the Mid-South Coliseum is nothing more than a fluke. Lance Russell was having a good ol time here explaining that Landell lost to someone who had never been in the wrestling ring before. Jarrett, who was announcing at the time agreed to the match as long as Landell guarantees that none of the other Hollywood Blondes (Rip Rogers and Rip Oliver) will come out and interfere.

Buddy Landell: Hey listen up you punk. I don’t need anyone else around here to help me beat the likes of you. I can beat you with one hand tied behind my back!

Jeff Jarrett: Is that so! You have yourself a deal!

As the match gets started, Jeff goes to the referee and whispers something into his ear. The ref actually gets on the mic and informs the fans that Landell needs to have one hand tied behind his back. Landell goes nuts but Jarrett says that was what was agreed upon. NO HOOLYWOOD BLONDES and ONE HAND TIED BEHIND YOUR BACK.

The ref tells Landell that if he doesn’t allow him to tie that hand behind his back, he will have no choice but to give the victory to Jarrett. Landell whinned as only he could but eventually gets all tied up. Jarrett may be young but he has some skill and once again he is able to beat Landell. This time he used a Running Bull Dog for the win!

  1. STEVE “DR. DEATH” WILLIAMS & THE BARBARIAN WITH SKANDAR AKBAR DESTROY THE DIXIE DYNAMITES AS BOTH DYNAMITES ARE LEFT IN A HEAP OF MANGLES BODY PARTS

At the interview desk, Akbar is claiming that he has the best team in the UWF bar none! He is in search of a UWF Tag Team Title Match against the Road Warriors. Jim Ross lets him know that the will have to wait as the Road Warriors have a score to settle with the NWA World Champions, the Andersons.

  1. BIG BUBBA OTTMAN WITH RON WRIGHT DESTROYS HOMER DELL & VERLON BIGGS IN A HANDICAP MATCH AS HE HIT A GIANT SPLASH ON BOTH IN LESS THEN A MINUTE.

At the interview desk, Ron Wright is joined by the Baron Won Raschke as Wright continues his war on the Unchristianed Wrestlers like the Armstrongs and Tommy Rich. All of a sudden, Exotic Adrian Street comes out and is completely disgusted by the obese Big Bubba and the Bald German.

The problem was that it was hard to tell who was more disgusted as it was obvious the look of Adrian Street sent shivers down the spine of Ron Wright. Big Bubba took the lead here and told Street that he better watch his mouth or he is going to get hurt!

Exotic Adrian Street: Watch my mouth? You better wash yours! Your teeth look like they have spent the last week eating Road Kill! Miss Linda if you wouldn’t mind!

Miss Linda simply walks up to the Big Bubba and sprays him with her perfume!

Bubba is fuming now and demands a match right now with Adrian Street. Street, who is unsure if he even wants to touch the Bubba agrees after making a few faces.

  1. BIG BUBBA OTTMAN WITH RON WRIGHT VS EXOTIC ADRIAN STREET WITH MISS. LINDA

Ottman has never faced anyone like Street who prances around with such an unorthodox style. Street completely keeps the big man off balance as he is in complete control. Ron Wright and Baron Von Raschke waste little time before they hit the ring. The 3-1 attack lasts less than a minute as Bullet Bob Armstrong, Brad Armstrong and Wildfire Tommy Rich hit the ring and chase the bad guys away. Big Bubba wanted no part of leaving the ring and it looked like he could have taken out everyone by himself. After Wright’s Army are gone, the Armstrongs, Rich and Street shake hands. A partnership with this group, should help get Exotic Adrian over with this rather conservative crowd!

  1. THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR WITH PAUL ELLERING DEFEATS LARRY CHEATEM WITH THE WARRIORS SMASH!

At the interview desk, we find out that the bad blood between the Warrior and the Warlord is continuing to grow and that they will face each other once again this week in Jacksonville, Florida but the twist this time will that both Paul Ellering and Skandar Akbar will be suspended in cages above the ring. After the match is over, Akbar and Ellering will face each other!

  1. BRAD ARMSTRONG DEFEATED BLACK BART BY DQ AS BASS RUSHED THE RING WITH A BULLROPE

This caused the Rock N Roll Express to rush out and make the save. The RnR Express will face Long Riders this week Mobile!

  1. RIP ROGERS DEFEATS SCOTT HALL WITH THE LOW BLOW FOLLOWED BY A PILEDRIVER AS THE HOLLYWOOD BLONDES (RIP OLIVER & BUDDY LANDEL DISTRACTED THE REF,

Fun show with a lot going on. The seeds are planted for RnR/Midnights. Love seeing Ray Candy get some shine. Adrian Street just cracks me up in this Mid South setting. Aligning him with Rich and Armstrong is a smart move. Ernie Ladd threatening Baby Doll was quite a TV moment and really puts more heat on his feud with Luger. Cant wait for Slater and Wahoo to go at it in a street fight. Jarrett with another win over Landell is getting him over quickly. So happy we're getting the dream team of Martel and Magnum clashing with the Russians.

Street vs. a big fat guy sounds like a feud I could watch all day. The Magnum/Martel tag is such a big match. I love a lot of what people have going on, but that one is the thing I am looking forward to most right now. Jarrett outwitting Landell is a nice touch.

MAJOR UWF SHOWS FOR THE WEEK OF 3/22 /86

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA: WAR MEMORIAL COLISEUM

Texas Tornados (Sam Houston & Kendell Windham) defeated Mike George and Cowboy Don Bass with a Double Running Bulldog on George.

Steve “Dr. Death” Williams and The Barbarian with Skadar Akbar crushed Chris Youngblood and Brett Sawyer as Williams pummeled Sawyer with the Oklahoma Stampede.

Scott Hall defeated the Masked Avenger with a Backbreaker Rack.

Tommy Rich defeated Rip Rogers with the Sleeper

The Ultimate Warrior with Paul Ellering defeated The Warlord with Skandar Akbar with the Warriors Smash. Both managers were suspended above the ring in separate cages with the winner getting 5 minutes against the other manager. As Akbar came out the Warriors really gave him a good beating and connected with a mighty Warrior Smash again causing the Arabian headdress to go flying. The fight was short lived as the rest of Devastation Inc. (Dr. Death & the Barbarian) rushed to the ring to attack the Ultimate Warrior. Hawk and Animal did not waste anytime hitting the ring and we go bonkers with these 6 men beating on each other. The back had to empty to restore order.

Southern Tag Title Match: The Midnight Express with Cornette destroyed the Dixie Dynamites and after Cornette got on the house mic and again claimed that his team takes on only the best and never ducks anyone. The crowd starts to chant Rock N Roll Express over and over again.

Continental Title Match: Florida Street Fight Rules (No Rules) Dick Slater defeats Wahoo McDaniel as none other than Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express hit the ring. Condrey with a chair shot, Eaton with an Alabama Jammer and Slater with a taped right hand haymaker was more than enough for the 3 count. The crowd gets what they wanted just a little while ago as the Rock n Roll Express comes out and manhandles Eaton and Condrey as they double dropkick them both through the ropes.

Magnum TA and Rick Martel defeated Ivan & Nikita Koloff as TA caught Ivan with the belly to belly as Nikita and Martel brawled on the outside of the ring.

MOBILE, ALABAMA: CIVIC CENTER

Big Bubba Ottman with Ron Wright defeats Homer O’Dell with the Giant Splash

Exotic Adrian Street defeats with Miss. Linda defeats Baron Von Raschke with Ron Wright as the ref was admonishing Wright, Miss. Linda sprayed the perfume in the eyes of Baron allowing Street to lock in the sleeper.

Brad Armstrong defeated Buddy Landell when Landell was strutting around the ring when he thought Brad was down and out. Brad quickly caught him with the Russian Leg Sweep for the win.

Dick Murdoch and Ray Candy defeated Hacksaw Butch Reed and Shaska Whatley as Murdoch hit Whatley with the Brainbuster. After the match,

Bob Armstrong defeated Baron Von Raschke with Ron Wright as Armstrong connected with the Jaw Breaker.

Rock n Roll Express defeated Southern Force (Ron Bass & Black Bart) with a Double Dropkick. This was a wild match that saw Morton really play the face in peril as Southern Force gave him a really big beating.

Lex Luger, Dick Murdoch and Ray Candy with Baby Doll defeated Hacksaw Butch Reed, Tony Atlas and Shaska Whatley as Murdoch hit Whatley with the Brainbuster. After the match, Ernie Ladd hit the ring and took the house mic and fired Shaska Whatley from the Nation of Domination as he could not stand the losing anymore. What happens next was even more surprising. Ernie Ladd introduces the newest member of the Nation of Domination, Bad Bad LeRoy Brown. As the 300+ pounder walks out, Ladd, Atlas and Brown lay the boots to Whatley. Hacksaw Reed simply thows his hands up and walks out of the ring as Whatley is getting abused. Lex Luger and Ray Candy see this and for some reason feel bad for Shaska and come to his aid but Dick Murdoch takes Reed’s lead and walks out of the ring. This leaves Candy and Luger in a bad way and they also end up on the bottom of a wild scene.

NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Road Warriors defeat Ole & Arn Anderson by DQ as Arm hit Animal in the head with a chair. This did little to Animal but the ref called for the bell. The look on Arn’s face was priceless when Animal didn’t sell the chair shot one bit! The Anderson’s retained the title but the Road Warriors proved their dominance here!

Slater getting help from Corny and the MXE is a nice way to get the RnRs mixed up with the Midnights. Roadies vs. Doc & Barbarian is going to be huge. Andersons got a surprise from the Roadies and were probably glad to get out of town. I wish I had seen that main in Jacksonville. Great way to build for Magnum/Nikita.

Another round of action packed cards. Poor Whatley, man he took a beating. Now Ladd goes out and gets Leroy Brown! Love the start of the RnR/Midnight feud here. Also cant wait for the Road Warriors/Dr.D, Barbarian showdown. However, it looks like the Warriors might have unfinished business with the Andersons. Like seeing Brad Armstrong getting a push. Slater finally puts Wahoo down (with a ton of help LOL) The Magnum/Martel dream team score a huge win over the Russians. Perfect set up for Martel/Nikita.

Luger/Dick Murdoch/Ray Candy has to be the greatest odd ball team EVER!

Great stuff from Corny and the Midnights as always, looking forward to the Rock & Roll Express getting their hands on them!

Glad to see Brad Armstrong doing well here, he and Martel could have a classic scientific title match at some point.

The Andersons always find a way but they had to dig deep into their bag of tricks to survive the Road Warriors.
