SHORT VERSION DUE AS I DON’T WANT TO HOLD GENE UP WITH BEACH BRAWL!

Hello again everybody. Welcome to Power Pro Wrestling; a UWF & Mid-South Wrestling production from Shreveport, Louisiana and the McNeils Boys Club. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. Let’s get right to some video tape from last Thursday in Houston, Texas in a match with Ted Dibiase and Steve “Dr. Death Williams squared off against The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes and Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

ANGLE #1: DIBIASE AND DR. DEATH VS DUSTY AND HACKSAW DUGGAN

We see a video from their tag match in New Orleans that was a Coal Miners Glove on a Pole Match. In the end, there seemed to be some confusion between Dibiase and Williams. As Dr. Death went for a big football tackle, Dusty got out of the way at the last second and Williams actually speared Dibiase. This allowed Dusty to get the Coal Miner’s Glove. Dr. Death was checking on Dibiase which allowed The American Dream to clock both Dr. Death and Dibiase. Dusty got the three count just in time as the rest of the Rat Pack rushed to the ring. It was here that Duggan assisted the Dream as he retrieved his 2 x 4 from ringside and whacked the other two stoogies. In a rarity lately, the crowd at a UWF event goes home happy as the baby faces were victorious.

After the video, the Rat Pack is at the interview desk and Jim Ross is pushing to see if there is any dissention between the members of the Rat Pack and to a man, they deny it.

We are also informed that this week in New Orleans there will be a #1 contender’s match for Dibiase’s North American Title and it will be between the American Dream vs Steve Williams in a Lumberjack Match.

Williams and Dibiase both seem happy with this idea. Viewers wonder if they are happy for the same reason. Dibiase is happy as he thinks Dr. Death could beat Rhodes and then give there would be no match as Williams would not turn on the leader. Dr. Death may be happy as he sees a title in his future.

Later in the show, The American Dream wins the main event against Rat Pack member Eric Embry. Just after the Bionic Elbow the rest of the Rat Pack came out to ringside. Dibiase seemed to take charge and ordered Nature Boy Buddy Landell into the ring and Rhodes quickly disposed of his with a Bionic Elbow.

Dibiase now ordered Dr. Death into the ring but Williams seemed to have problems taking orders from Dibiase. By the time the Rat Pack reorganized, Hacksaw Duggan had joined Rhodes with the 2 x 4 and the Rat Pack ended the show looking too afraid to get in the ring.

ANGLE #2: THE ROAD WARRIORS VS THE FACES OF FEAR

We see a quick video of the match from New Orleans between Pau Ellering and Skandar Akbar where Ellering seemed to be in control until Akbar grabbed him by the tights and shoved him into the referee. The ref went down hard and this was all that was needed to ignite a firestorm. The Road Warriors and the Faces of Fear both hit the ring and the brawl was on. When the ref finally got to his feet, he called for the bell and ruled the match a no contest. It took the entire locker room to get these monsters apart.

In the end, it did not matter. As long as Akbar wrestled Ellering, his men would receive a UWF World Tag Team Title match in Houston.

Both teams won squash matches during the show and hyped up the clash between these 4 brutes.

ANGLE #3: NEW ANGLE: HACKSAW REED IS DISGRUNTLED

This all starts after a great UWF World TV Title Match between Iceman Parsons and the Dingo Warrior with Skandar Akbar. The match went almost to the time limit and with the help of Akbar, Dingo had a few chances at winning the title. In the end, Iceman ducked under a Warrior Smash and connected with a Big Butt Bump.

At the interview desk, Iceman is very grateful to the fans and yada yada yada when all of a sudden Hacksaw Reed comes out. Iceman is ready for a fight but Reed tells Iceman that he has no problem with him and to relax.

Hacksaw Reed is irate and lets Akbar have it. He is furious that all of the other members of his stable are getting title shot after title shot while he just sits on the sidelines. He goes through the Faces of Fear getting title shots against the Road Warriors and even Dingo getting a shot against Iceman.

Akbar comes out and tries to come down Hacksaw but that is to no avail. Dingo, who tires of being bad mouthed, comes out and confronts Reed. Big mistake……

WHAM!

A forearm smash by Reed followed by a Gorilla Press Slam on the arena floor. Dingo is in a bad way and Reed simply tells Akbar that if Dingo is still in Devastation Inc. in one week, he walks!

IN OTHER ACTION

Chris Benoit and The Cuban Assassin win their singles matches against jobbers.

This week’s big card in Houston includes:

#1 CONTENDERS MATCH FOR THE NORTH AMERICAN TITLE

Steve “Dr. Death” Williams vs Dusty Rhodes (Lumberjack Match)

UWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

Road Warriors vs Faces of Fear

SUMMARY VERSION

Hello again everybody. Welcome to Power Pro Wrestling; a UWF & Mid-South Wrestling production from Shreveport, Louisiana and the McNeil’s Boys Club. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. The big news in the UWF this week is coming out of Beach Brawl in Miami, Florida where Jerry Lawler has captured the UWF Unified World Title from Austin Idol. If that is not enough, you need to see what happened after the match.

ANGLE #1: UWF UNIFIED WORLD TITLE

TgMwVvn.jpg?1

We see a video of the match between Austin Idol and Jerry Lawler and what happens after the match courtesy of Continental Championship Wrestling….

Jerry 'the King' Lawler pinned "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol w/"Classy" Freddie Blassie & Teddy Muscles after a piledriver to win the UWF Unified World Championship.

Afterwards, Teddy Muscles, Blassie, and Harley Race were fighting with the outside referee to get into the cage…Lawler sees this and climbs over to escape the attack….they manage to get in the cage just as Lawler is getting to the floor and leaving with his new title belt. Idol struggles to get back to his feet as Blassie starts berating him about losing…Idol tries to shrug him off but Blassie slaps him across the face, Idol grabs him around throat and starts choking him as the crowd erupts but Idol is quickly cut off by Teddy Muscles and Harley Race…..they put the boots to him and then give him a spike piledriver……they continue to put the boots to him until Dusty Rhodes and Jerry Lawler come back out and clear them out of the ring.

Dusty grabs the mic and says, "Freddie Blassie….you tell them Sammartinos…THEIR ASS IS MINE, BABY!!! RIGHT HERE IN MIAMI I WANT THEM BOTH IN A CAGE AGAINST ME AND WHOEVER I DECIDE TO BRING WITH ME!!"

The crowd erupts!! The show ends on a high note with the Dream and the new World Champ in the cage as EMTs check on the fallen Austin Idol.

When the video ends, we hear Jim Ross letting us know that Jerry Lawler will be here in the Boys Club next week and he will be defending the Unified World Title next Thursday in Houston and that we will find out next week who the challenger will be.

ANGLE #2: DIBIASE AND DR. DEATH VS DUSTY AND HACKSAW DUGGAN

-We get a squash match here for Dr. Death Steve Williams as he destroys some jobber with the Oklahoma Stampede!

At the interview desk, he seems a little subdued as we find out that he lost his #1 Contenders Lumberjack Match for the North American Title against Dusty Rhodes. We see a short video from Houston, Texas where we see the action spill out to arena floor a few times and it appears that Rat Pack leader and North American Champion, Ted Dibiase, is doing little to help Williams out.

Williams continues to say all is ok with the Rat Pack but we will have to wait and see.

Later in the Main Event we see Dusty Rhodes in a match with the Cuban Assassin but it doesn’t go long as the Rat Pack (Dibiase, Dr. Death, Embry and Landell) hit the ring and go after Dusty. This is an obvious attempt to keep Rhodes from the North American Title Match this week in New Orleans. While the attack doesn’t last long as the Calvary of Hacksaw Duggan, JYD and Dick Murdoch come to the rescue. What was noticeable here was the lack of involvement in the dust up by Dr. Death. MAYBE ALL IS NOT WELL!

ANGLE #3: THE ROAD WARRIORS VS THE FACES OF FEAR

We get a short clip here of the latest wild title match between these two teams. This one took place in New Orleans and again we saw the match end without a clear winner. This one ended in a double count-out as all 4 men brawled all over the arena floor.

After the video, we see Cowboy Bill Watts at the interview desk where he informs us that enough is enough. In two weeks these teams are going to face off in a Steel Cage. He hopes this will stop the managers from getting involved and for the action to stay in the ring.

ANGLE #4: NEW ANGLE: HACKSAW REED DISGRUNTLED

Skandar Akbar comes out and calls out Hacksaw where he says that Hacksaw means so much to him that he has sent the Dingo Warrior away and that the new Devastation Inc. will consist of only the Faces of Fear and Hacksaw Butch Reed.

Reed says that sending Dingo away is a step in the right direction but he needs more. He reminds us that Jerry Lawler will be here next week and if he doesn’t get a title shot in Houston in two weeks, Akbar better look for a new star.

Akbar stumbles around and tries to say that he doesn’t have the power to just decide who gets that title shot. Reed doesn’t care and tells Akbar that getting title shots is the only reason that he is part of Devastation Inc. and reminds everyone that he is the “man” here and it is not like he needs Akbar’s help at ringside.

To prove this, he tells Akbar to not accompany him to the ring for his TV match this week. In that match, Reed is like a man possessed as he just pummels Kenny Shane.

ANGLE #5: $25,000 BOUNTY ON JYD

JYD wins an easy match against Larry Cheatem with a Big Thump.

As soon as the match is over, the Midnight Cowboys, the two masked men who attacked JYD two weeks ago in Memphis are back. They Pearl Harbor him and have their way with him until Dick Murdoch makes the save as the Cowboys run for cover.

JYD and Murdoch are full of anger at the interview desk. Jim Ross welcomes JYD back to Mid-South as he has spent the last month or so in the USWA. Ernie Ladd steps in and wonders if Dog is “yella” and has run away from Memphis as he is just afraid of these so called Midnight Cowboys.

This set Dog and Murdoch off and they demanded a match against the Midnight Cowboys this week in New Orleans. Dog also says he would have no problem meeting Ladd in the ring as well!

Ladd does back down a bit but tells JYD he has been sent a letter and has been asked to read it on air so here it goes.

Mr. JYD

You think you can out smart me by leaving the USWA and coming to Mid-South Wrestling. You are a good example as to why dogs are man’s best friend. It is because you are just plain stupid and we can always figure out your thinking. A bounty is a bounty. It doesn’t matter where you go, someone will be there to take you out. Memphis New Orleans St. Louis…. It doesn’t matter. Hell it might be in the parking lot …. in your drive way or when you take that girlfriend of yours to the movies. This sport is not big enough for the both of us and it is time for you to go.

Your friend,

John.

JYD and Murdoch are both wild with anger now and calling out this letter writing John!

We also find out that the match between JYD and Murdoch vs the Midnight Cowboys is a go for this week in Houston!

ANGLE #6: NEW ANGLE: Mr. Wrestling II and Shane Douglas

This is Wrestling II’s first time in Mid-South in almost a year but he still is one of the most popular wrestlers in the territory.

Wrestling II explains that he knows that he is getting up there in age and wants to pass on his knowledge to a hard-working, talented youngster who has the drive to succeed in this business and that person is Shane Douglas.

We see Shane Douglas win a match with the Million Dollar Knee Lift against Tony Perkins and Jim Ross hypes up the fact the Shane Douglas seems like a quick learner.

IN OTHER ACTION

UWF World TV Champ, Iceman Parsons defeats Chris Benoit in an 8 minute match that saw the young Benoit really hold his own. Benoit did connect with a suplex and got a 2 ¾ count before falling to Iceman after a Big Butt Bump. What was nice was that the two shook hands after the bout.

This week’s big card in New Orleans and the Lake Front Arena includes:

NORTH AMERICAN TITLE MATCH

Ted Dibiase vs Dusty Rhodes

UWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

The Road Warriors vs Steve “Dr. Death” Williams and Buddy Landell

Eric Embry vs Hacksaw Duggan

JYD & Dick Murdoch vs The Midnight Cowboys

SUMMARY VERSION

Hello again everybody. Welcome to Power Pro Wrestling, a UWF & Mid-South Wrestling production from Shreveport, Louisiana and the McNeil’s Boys Club. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. The big news is that the UWF Unified Champion, Jerry “the King” Lawler will be here tonight as we will find out who his opponent will be this week in Houston.

ANGLE #1: WHO WILL JERRY LAWLER FACE THIS WEEK IN HOUSTON FOR THE UWF UNIFIED WORLD TITLE?

The show starts will Jerry Lawler coming out to the interview desk where Jim Ross congratulates him on his recent win over Austin Idol for the World Title. As you would expect, Ernie Ladd is pretty quiet at this point.

As usual, Lawler does not have any problem coming off confident and almost arrogant but it works for him and the fans are into him. Lawler admits that the competition down here in Mid-South Wrestling is good and he knows he will have his hands full.

All of a sudden, Hacksaw Butch Reed comes out and Jim Ross begs for some decorum. Reed gets right in the face of the King and says that he is the #1 contender and will be the shortest reign in UWF history.

Jim Ross reminds Hacksaw that he demanded that his manager, Skandar Akbar get this match signed and if he didn’t he would be leaving Devastation Inc. Ross asks if that contract has been signed and if he will have his World title shot this week.

Hacksaw admits that he has not seen Akbar since last week and but he is confident the deal got done.

Akbar comes out and plays around the topic for a bit and just kept reminding Reed that he is working hard to help Hacksaw’s career as well as his star tag team the Faces of Fear. Akbar said he tried all week but that the UWF Board of Directors refused to grant Reed the title shot.

Reed is furious and fires Akbar on the spot and the crowd goes wild.

This joy is short lived as out of nowhere Ernie Ladd gets everyone’s attention.

Ernie Ladd: Hacksaw, I know that you and I have not always been on the same page. It was just over a year ago that you put me into retirement but I can guarantee you that Akbar is using you to feed his bank account. I know that he never even went to the UWF Board of Directors. How do I know this? I went and here is the contract with your name on it vs Jerry Lawler for this Thursday in Houston. What do you say Hacksaw? Let’s bury the hatched brother. Let’s turn this sport on its head. IT IS TIME TO JOIN BACK TOGETHER AND FORM THE NATION OF DOMINATION. Together we can make sure we are fighting for the cause. You have said it before, YOU ARE THE MAN and before you, I WAS THE MAN. Together we can turn these white crackers on their heads!

It is like a lightbulb goes off in Reed’s head as he agrees with Ladd and hypes up the fact that he has a World Title shot in 5 days.

Jerry “The King” Lawler was not happy being called a cracker and basically challenges Reed right now and starts to head to the ring!

WHAM!!

Reed clocks Lawler from behind and together with Ladd they start to lay the boots to him.

WHAM!!

The Faces of Fear under the demands of Skandar Akbar are all over Ladd and Reed as Akbar is furious that he was fired.

aEtDfPK.jpg?1

WHAM!!

The Road Warriors have hit the interview area and are all over the Faces of Fear, the biggest rivals for the UWF World Tag Title.

This chaos goes on for a few minutes until finally Jim Ross takes us to commercial break hoping that order can be restored.

ANGLE #2: RAT PACK VS DUSTY RHODES & HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN

-A rather peacefully show here for this angle.

Hacksaw Duggan won a squash match against Billy the Kid with a football tackle. He was joined by the American Dream at the interview desk where we find out Ted Dibiase escaped his match with Dusty last week in New Orleans with h is North American Title.

We get a little video and we see the familiar loaded Black Glove clock Rhodes as the ref’s attention was turned toward Eric Embry who had come to ringside.

When the video is over, the Dream and Hacksaw say they are sick and tired off the Rat Pack being allowed to interfere in Dibiase’s title matches. Dream says it would be easier to take on all 4 of the Rat Pack members because then at least you would know where they were.

Hacksaw agrees and says this is gone past just the North American Title and that it is personal. He wants a Gauntlet Match this week in Houston where it will be Dusty and Hacksaw against the 4 members of the Rat Pack and each time someone is defeated, they must leave ringside.

Jim Ross, who has been alone since the first segment where Ladd turned manager, says that is a very dangerous match and thinks that Rhodes and Hacksaw should rethink this idea.

We know there is no chance of this and after Ted Dibiase defeated Leo Seitz with the Figure 4, he is joined by the rest of the Rat Pack who accept the Gauntlet Match and they are full of laughter at how there aren’t 2 men in the World who can beat them.

Cowboy Bill Watts comes out and admits that he is not happy about sanctioning this match but he is going to do it. He then goes on to inform the Rat Pack that if they lose the Gauntlet Match, Ted Dibiase will have to put the title on the line in two weeks in New Orleans in a 4 Corner Match with the last 4 men standing from the Gauntlet Match.

Dibiase, who is doing most of the talking tonight, has no fear about this as he is sure they are winning this week!

I1YFw93.jpg?1

ANGLE #3: THE ROAD WARRIORS VS THE FACES OF FEAR

Neither of these teams see any action tonight except for their involvement in the opening brawl.

Both teams do get a bit of interview time for their upcoming Steel Cage Match in Houston this week. The Road Warriors are basically roaring into the microphone while Akbar was a little more philosophically about how his monsters were the one team who can beat the Warriors at their own came. He asks Jim Ross to look at his men and tell him if he thinks they look afraid.

Konga is basically contorting his face and beating himself in the chest while Haku is chanting some strange sounds and he is slapping his head in rhythm.

Ross admits they don’t look afraid but the do look insane. Ross wonders what the condition of these 4 men will be after their epic Cage Match.

ANGLE #4: $25,000 BOUNTY ON JYD

JYD comes to the interview desk where we can see he has a pair of sunglasses on.

JYD, talking real slow, is full of anger as he explains what happened last week as he and Dick Murdoch faced the Midnight Cowboys.

“Captain Redneck and myself were really giving it to these two clowns who are calling themselves the Midnight Cowboys when all of a sudden, the lights in the Lake Front Arena went out and that he was hit by something and then someone put a noose around his neck and tossed him over the top rope basically hanging him.

Was it not for Dick Murdoch, JYD might not be with us. Murdock clobbered the Midnight Cowboys and rushed to JYD and picked him up and got the noose off. JYD needed help to get back to the locker room.

Dog says that his neck is still a little sore but if those Midnight Cowboys think they are putting the Dog out of wrestling and collecting the bounty they have another thing coming. Dog again calls out the coward who has put this bounty on his head.

Jim Ross gives JYD something to ponder and he asks if there could be another person involved as the Cowboys were in the ring so someone else must have turned out the lights.

All of a sudden, Cowboy Bill Watts comes out and says he was has received another letter and would like to read it on the air.

Dear JYD

Sometimes you make a good point. I might as well come and meet you face to face and put you out of wrestling myself and save $25,000. See you soon!

Sincerely,

John

The show ends when in the Main Event the Midnight Cowboys got a little of their own medicine as during their match against the Samoan Connection, an angry JYD and Dick Murdoch hit the ring looking for blood. JYD had the dog chain and Murdoch came carrying a chair. The Cowboys quickly left the ring and ran for higher ground.

ANGLE #5: NEW ANGLE: Mr.

UWF World TV Champ, Iceman Parsons defeats Chris Benoit in an 8-minute match that saw the young Benoit really hold his own. Benoit did connect with a suplex and got a 2 ¾ count before falling to Iceman after a Big Butt Bump. What was nice was that the two shook hands after the bout.

This week’s big card in New Orleans and the Lake Front Arena includes:

GAUNLET MATCH

THE RAT PACK VS DUSTY RHODES & HACKSAW DUGGAN

UWF UNIFIED WORLD TITLE MATCH

JERRY LAWLER VS HACKSAW REED with ERNIE LADD

SUMMARY VERSION

Hello again everybody. Welcome to Power Pro Wrestling; a UWF & Mid-South Wrestling production from Shreveport, Louisiana and the McNeil’s Boys Club. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is Cowboy Bill Watts. Before we get to the ring, we really must talk about this Dusty Rhodes/Hacksaw Duggan feud vs the Rat Pack as it is really getting hot.

ANGLE #1: RAT PACK VS DUSTY RHODES & HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN

-We start off with a video tape from Houston that saw Rhodes and Duggan defeat the entire Rat Pack in an Elimination match. The action started out quickly as Dream and Hacksaw quickly finished off Eric Embry and Buddy Landell in about two minutes. Rhodes caught Embry with a piledriver while Hacksaw caught Landell with a football tackle.

This left Dibiase and Dr. Death left to take on Rhodes and Duggan. Ross informs us that they match went on like this for almost 20 minutes and the one thing to know is that Dibiase, the leader of the Rat Pack never once entered the ring as he let Dr. Death do all of the heavy lifting. Eventually Dr. Death was able to pin Duggan after an Oklahoma Stampede. Dusty came in and was able to defeat a worn out Dr. Death. As the ref turned to motion Dibiase into the ring, Dr. Death took out the Dream’s right knee. This was all that Dibiase thought he would need as he went for the Figure 4. Rhodes somehow grabbed Dibiase by the neck and rolled him up for the win. Dr. Death was in shock and just shook his head. Dibiase blamed Dr. Death but Landell and Embry rushed down to try and keep the peace.

After the video tape, Duggan and Rhodes were so amped up because they now earned a title shot in what Cowboy Bill Watts was calling a 4 Corner Match that was going to take place this week in New Orleans. It is going to be Duggan, Rhodes, Dr. Death and Dibiase win the winner coming out with the North American Championship.

Both Rhodes and Duggan said they may be friends but they are going to have to put that on hold for one night as this one is for the gold. Both Rhodes and Duggan laughed a little bit when asked what he thought of the current state of affairs in the Rat Pack.

Later in the show, Dibiase and Dr. Death won a squash match and assured everyone that the Rat Pack was stronger than ever! Dibiase guaranteed that he would walk out of New Orleans with his title. After that comment, it almost looked like Dr. Death was thinking differently.

ANGLE #2: UWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

We see footage of the Steel Cage Match from Houston between the Road Warriors and the Faces of Fear where the Road Warriors retain their title as they connected with a Doomsday Device on Konga. Both team looked battered and beaten and this may not be the last we see of this feud.

During an interview, Skandar Akbar guarantees that Devastation Inc. is as strong as ever even after the loss by the Faces of Fear and the recent defection of Hacksaw Butch Reed to Ernie Ladd’s Nation of Domination. He promises that soon, his empire will contain one of the scariest beast in all of professional wrestling and that together with Konga and Haku, he will rule Mid-South Wrestling.

In an interesting match, we see Konga in singles competition this week were he destroyed Butch Malone with a top rope diving headbutt.

The Road Warriors also saw action as they just pulverized Mike Hall and Randy Morse

ANGLE #3: $25,000 BOUNTY ON JYD

JYD & SHANE DOUGAS with Mr. Wrestling II and win a nice match against Kerry Brown and Duke Myers. Myers and Brown decided to attack before the bell and Ross and Watts commented on how they must also be trying to collect that bounty as everyone else around here has. JYD and Douglas were able to regain the momentum and defeat the heels after JYD caught Myers with a Big Thump.

JYD is starting to wonder if there really is a bounty on his head as he hasn’t seen hide nor hair of this guy calling himself John! He doesn’t blame all these guys like the Midnight Cowboys coming after him as $25,000 is a lot of dough but they all better think twice. JYD starts howling at the moon and tells anyone who wants to come after the Dog bet be ready to get bitten.

Jim Ross is sorry to interrupt as he said that he has received another letter this week from this John fellow who has placed the bounty on his head.

Dear JYD

Heed my advice. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer but can you really tell who your true friends are when I will pay anyone $25,000 to take you out. Good luck.

Sincerely,

John

After the letter is read, Mr. Wrestling II takes over the interview as he wonders what is meant by the quote and that JYD can trust people like himself, Dusty Rhodes, Hacksaw Duggan and Dick Murdoch who have been at his side throughout this entire mess.

IN OTHER ACTION

Farmer Boy Ipo defeated Les Thorton with a Samoan Drop

Dick Murdoch defeated Fidel Sierra with a Brain Buster.

This week’s big card in Houston includes:

4 CORNER MATCH FOR THE NORTH AMERICAN TITLE

Dusty Rhodes VS Hacksaw Duggan VS Ted Dibiase VS Steve Williams

UWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE REMATCH

Road Warriors vs Faces of Fear

Yes, my fault. Should have let everyone know that Vlad is Nord. I figured he could get away with this role with his look and body type even though he is only a rookie. Being dominate with a move a simply as a sledgehammer doesn't force him to be technically sound and also doesn't force him to be good at selling yet.

In the ring, he looks good but doesn't really do anything.

Hello again everybody. Welcome to Power Pro Wrestling; a UWF & Mid-South Wrestling production from Shreveport, Louisiana and the McNeil’s Boys Club. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is Cowboy Bill Watts. Well folks we are under a week away from Music City Mayhem and the tension here is hot as every wrestle in the locker room thinks they could be the World Champion in less than two weeks! Before we get to the ring, let’s see a video tape from the Summit in Houston and the wild 4 Corner Elimination Match for the North American Title between Ted Dibiase, Steve “Dr. Death” Williams, Dusty Rhodes and Hacksaw Duggan.

The video starts with Dibiase and Duggan being the legal men in the ring but the action has gone a little bonzo gonzo as all 4 are in. This allowed Dibiase to load up that glove as the ref is in over his head.

WHAM…

Loaded glove by Dibiase takes out Duggan and he is sent to the locker room.

The ref finally gets control and somehow Dusty takes out Dr. Death with a piledriver.

Dibiase really stalls here and plays the frightened heel well as he refuses to enter the ring. The ref starts a 10 count after a minute or two of stalling but this suits Dibiase just fine as he would retain the belt on a countout.

6….

7…

MATCH:

THE FACES OF FEAR WITH SKANDAR AKBAR JUST DESTROY TONY RUSSO & AL COSTELLO

Skandar Akbar is laughing and laughing at the interview desk as he can’t belief how stupid the UWF is. He knows that Cowboy Watts doesn’t want to see the World Titles around his men’s waist but it is inevitable after Music City Mayhem as he men will destroy every team on its way to meet and dethrone those pathetic copy cats…. The Road Warriors.

MATCH:

BUDDY LANDELL DEFEATS ART SHAMESKY WIN A FIGURE 4

At the interview desk, Jim Ross wonders about the cohesion of the Rat Pack and Buddy Landell goes off. Did you not see the video tape in the begining. Dr. Death just leveled Dusty Rhodes to help Dibiase keep his title. We will do anything for each other.

Jim Ross: Are you saying Ted Dibiase needed the help of Steve Williams to defeat Dusty Rhodes.

Buddy Landell: oooohhh, ooohhhh, I see what you are dong Ross. Trying to put words in my mouth. Trying to break the Rat Pack apart. Well it won’t work.

Jim Ross: By the way, where was your partner today, Eric Embry.

By now, Landell is furious and just walks away.

MATCH

JYD & SHANE DOUGLAS VS THE KIWI SHEEPHERDERS

In an attempt to collect the $25,000 bounty on JYD, the Sheepherders attack before the bell. This really took the younger Douglas by surprise and he gets rammed face first into the steel ring post and he falls to the arena floor. Somehow the ref gets this under control and calls for the bell but JYD seems to be all alone. He does a great job of selling here and locks completely out of it but as we would expect, the baby face begins to rise. JYD somehow catches Rip Morgan with a BIG THUMP as goes for the pin.

Jonathan Boyd hits the ring to make the save.

WHAM!

Shane Douglas recovers just in time to hit Boyd with the Million Dollar Knee Lift that he has been working on with Wrestling II.

JYD and Douglas really pulled this one out and are so hyped up at the interview desk about Douglas and the growth that he has made.

Jim Ross: Well guys, I have two pieces of bad news for you. First of all, the brackets for the Music City Bowl are out and it looks like you two will be facing each other.

JYD: The only reason that is bad news is that it is in the first round. This youngster has come so far so fast under the teachings of Wrestling II here that I was hoping we could both advance to the finals. I expect Shane to give it his all and may the better man or Dog come out on top!

Shane and JYD shake hands as the Dog asks what was the other piece of bad news.

Well we have received another letter from whoever this John guy is that has placed this bounty on your head.

Dear JYD,

I have heard that Nashville is Country Music U.S.A. but all you will be hearing is the BLUES! The black and blues that is. BEWARE OF MUSIC CITY as the dog catcher is on duty!

Sincerely,

John

JYD and Mr. Wrestling II furiously demand that this guy show his face as Jim Ross announces we are out of time.

Jim Ross: So long from Shreveport and don’t forget to join us on WTVT and local affiliates this Saturday for a recap of the first day’s action from Music City Mayhem.

9/7/1985:

WTVT

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE

BELL TIME 1:00

This event is a week-long exhibit at the Tennessee State Fair that is intended to bring in the new fan as well as excite the big time wrestling fan. It is a showcase of all the UWF Promotions as one would expect some out of state fans at the fair!

“Yello again everybody. Welcome to a special UWF event as we get set to tip off the biggest week in wrestling, Music City Mania. I am Lance Russell along with my co-host for the evening, Jim Ross and we are coming to you from The Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee. On this show, we are going to see some highlights from the Music City Bowl, a singles and tag team tournament that could propel one of these stars right to the UWF Unified Championship. Don’t forget to join us on Thursday night as each title in the UWF will be defended right here in the Nashville.

Jim Ross also reminds us that we will see some of the greatest stars in country music today and he can’t wait to see the beautiful Barbara Mandrell. He says the Music City Bowl is about to kick off but as we do, let’s welcome to the stage, one of country music’s biggest stars, Lee Geenwood as he performs God Bless the U.S.A!

Lance and Ross now go through some highlights of the first-round matches and give us some insights on the next round.

MUSIC CITY BOWL

RD.1

1. Dory Funk (CCW) defeats Rocky Johnson (CCW)when he blocked a big right hand and followed it up with a double hook suplex. With Johnson in trouble, Dory went with the Spinning Toe hold for the victory.

2. Adrian Adonis (CCW) defeats Bulldog Brown (CSW) with the Goodnight Irene!

3. Jimmy Garvin (USWA) defeated Lanny Poffo (CSW) as Precious needed to get the loaded purse involved while Jimmy had the ref distracted.

4. Hacksaw Jim Duggan (Mid-South) defeated Big John Studd (CCW) by DQ When Teddy Muscles hammered Duggan with his own 2x4. Teddy was just following directions from Blassie. After the match, Studd and Teddy tried to make an example of Hacksaw but JYD, Mr. Wrestling II and Shane Douglas made the save.

5. In the match of the round, Wahoo McDaniel (CCW) defeated Blackjack Mulligan (CCW) when Wahoo reached into his trunks and clocked Mulligan with a pair of brass knuckles.

6. Dick Murdoch (Mid-South) defeated the Dirty White Boy (CCW) in a wild brawl that saw Murdoch connect with a Brainbuster for the Finisher.

7. Dr. Death Steve Williams (Mid-South) defeated Honky Tonk Man (USAW) with the Oklahoma Stampede.

8. In the most interesting match of the first round, Shane Douglas (Mid-South) with Mr. Wrestling II defeats Junkyard Dog (Mid-South). The match started with a handshake but certainly did not end that way. The ref got caught with a big clothesline from Douglas as the Dog ducked out of the way. It is here that the camera picks up both Mr. Wrestling II and Douglas loading up their knee braces. Together they just kept hitting JYD with Million Dollar Knee Lifts to the face. By the end of it, JYD was bleeding from the mouth, forehead and nose. He seemed to be unconscious by the time the ref came to as Douglas made an easy pin as the State Fair crowd watched on in horror.

After the match was over, Lance was in shock that Wrestling II would attack his longtime friend, JYD, just to collect the $25,000 bounty. He sighs and finishes with the thought that money will do strange things to people.

As they wonder why, we see Reba Mcentire on stage singing “How Blue.”

------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS-----------------

Russell and Ross get right to hyping up the great tag teams in the UWF as we head to the qualifying round of the Music City Tag Team Bowl.

Qualifying Round

1. Jack Victory and Dave Taylor with Lanny Poffo (CSW) defeated the Cobra and the Black Ninja (CSW) with a wild finish as these two heel teams from Central States went to battle. JR. Foley was up on the apron trying to arguing that Jack Victory just hit the Cobra with an illegal taped fist. This distraction allowed Lanny Poffo the chance to climb to the top rope and come off with a big frog splash. The ref turned around just in time to make the three count for Victory and Taylor.

2. The Samoan Connection (USWA) (Farmer Boy Ipo & LeRoy Brown defeated the Rat Pack (Mid-South) (Eric Embry & Buddy Landell) in a bit off an upset. Landell had Brown in the Figure 4 but he reached the ropes to break the hold. He also made the tag to Ipo who came in like a house afire. After tossing Embry to the floor, the 350 pound Samoan scopped up Landell for the Samoan Drop and the victory.

3. The Southern Boys (CCW) defeated the Exotic Hustlers (CCW) by DQ as the ref caught Miss. Linda spraying perfume in the eyes of Tracy Smothers. This caused some serious problems for Smothers who was in some big time trouble heading back to the locker room. Exotic Street and Rip Rodgers took this opportunity to go 2-1 against Steve Armstrong. Ross and Russell wondered if the Southern Boys will even be able to continue in the tournament.

4. Austin Idol and Superstar Dundee (USWA) defeated the Desparados (CCW) (Ron Bass & Black Bart). Dundee and Bass were brawling out on the floor while Idol caught Bart in the Las Vegas Leglock. Just as Bart submitted, Bass scooped us Dundee and dropped him across the steel barricade and then rushed in with a flaming branding iron and narrowly missed Idol.

As the highlights from the qualifying round ends, Ross and Russell let us know that The Faces of Fear, The Tennessee Stud Stable, and the Freebirds received bye’s into the second round.

------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS-----------------

As we come out of break, we see the Charlie Daniels Band on stage singing “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” Lance and Jim Ross are hyping the entire fair and Jim Ross seems really excited about the pig catching competition.

Lance brings us back to wrestling and informs us that all the highlights that we have seen so far were from the afternoon session on Saturday and now we are going to see some huge highlights from the night session.

MUSIC CITY BOWL: ROUND 2

1. Dory Funk Jr. (CCW) defeats Adrian Adonis (CCW) as he somehow slipped out of the Goodnight Irene and quickly turned that into a Russian Legsweep. Dory came up from behind and caught Adonis in the Texas Clover Leave for the Submission victory. Russell hypes up the repertoire that we have seen so far tonight from Dory Funk Jr. and Jim Ross says he would expect nothing less from this former NWA World Champion.

2. Hacksaw Duggan (Mid-South) defeated Jimmy Garvin (USWA). Garvin did his best to play possum and almost had the victory but Hacksaw threw him off as Garvin went for a running bulldog. As Garvin got back to his feet, Duggan caught him with a big football tackle. Precious was up on the apron as Duggan went for the pin but one look from Hacksaw made her think twice and she jumped down. Ross and Russell say they have never seen her not do everything in her power to save her man.

3. Wahoo McDaniel (CCW) defeated Dick Murdoch (Mid-South) in just a brutal fight. It appeared that Murdoch was going to get the victory after as he was going for the Brainbuster. He had Wahoo up but his leg buckled and he went down. Wahoo showed him no mercy and went into a War Dance before putting Murdoch in the Tee Pee Leg Lock for the submission victory. Both Russell and Ross hope that Murdoch is not hurt too badly but wonder if and when they will see him again.

4. Dr. Death Steve Williams (Mid-South) defeats Shane Douglas (Mid-South)

Dr. Death just destroys the poor youngster. The end comes with the Oklahoma Stampeded but all Ross and Russell can talk about was the attack by Wrestling II and Douglas earlier on JYD.

------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS-----------------

The next segment comes back with Hank Williams Jr. on stage singing “A Country Boy Can Survive as Lance Russell and Jim Ross get us ready to review the second round of the tag team tournament.

MUSIC CITY TAG TEAM BOWL: ROUND 2

1. The Faces of Fear (Mid-South) with Skandar Akbar defeat Jack Victory & Dave Taylor with Lanny Poffo. It seemed like the Faces of Fear have their mind set on getting another shot at the Road Warriors. They even ended the match with a Doomsday Device on Jack Victory. When the bout was over, Haku even put Poffo’s muscle, the Dingo Warrior in the Tongan Death Grip and left him writhing in pain. Jim Ross put the rest of the tag teams on notice that they better beware of the Skandar Akbar’s Faces of Fear.

2. Austin Idol & Superstar Dundee (USWA) defeat The Southern Boys (Tracy Smothers & Steve Armstrong) The Southern Boys fought gallantly but with Smothers struggling with his eye sight, Idol and Dundee maintained control of most of the match. Dundee gained the victory after a Sunset flip and we actually had some nice sportsmanship after the match as the two teams shook hands and left the ring together.

3. The Tennessee Stud Stable (CCW) defeated the Samoan Connection (USWA) as Eddie Gilbert choked out Farmer Boy Ipo with some sort of hidden plastic zip lock tie that he hid during what he claimed was a legal sleeper hold.

4. Jimmy Golden and Robert Fuller (CCW) defeated the Freebirds (CCW) in a strange match. Golden did all the work and Russell and Ross thought it must be because Fuller is having some vision problems from the fireball he was hit with a few weeks ago by the Stud Stable. At one point, Hayes whipped Fuller into his own corner and he smacked right into his partner who wasn’t even facing the right direction. The ref claimed it was a legal tag and made Fuller enter the ring. Hayes went up and and clocked him and Fuller never even tried to block it. Hayes was laughing and turned away and pretended to be walking with a walking stick. Fuller simply came up from behind and rolled Hayes up for the 1…2…3. Jim Ross was laughing at how Fuller and Golden just out foxed one of the best foxes. The faces Hayes made after the 3 count were priceless.

------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS-----------------

As we come back from break, we see the Oak Ridge Boy’s on stage singing their classic “Elvira.”

MUSIC CITY BOWL SEMI-FINALS

1. Hacksaw Jim Duggan (Mid-South) defeated Dory Funk Jr (CSW) in a wild match that saw Dory try to outwrestle Hacksaw. It was working but then Hacksaw decided it was time to use the big power moves. He connected with a powerslam and caught Dory with a football tackle as he staggered to his feet. This was enough to get him a spot in the Music City Bowl finals on Thursday.

2. Dr. Death Steve Williams (Mid-South) defeated Wahoo McDaniel in a knock down drag out brawl that saw Williams no sell three straight monster tomahawk chops from Wahoo and then simply scoop up the chief for an Oklahoma Stampede and the victory.

Ross and Russell hype this final up big time as they review the feud that Hacksaw has been having with the entire Rat Pack.

------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS-----------------

MUSIC CITY TAG TEAM BOWL SEMI-FINALS

1. Austin Idol and Superstar Bill Dundee defeat the Faces of Fear by DQ when Skandar Akbar got involved. Dundee did a nice job of selling a beating here before making a tag to Idol who came in and stood up to both Haku and Konga. Akbar decided to get in the ring and actually ended up punching Haku right in the head. Haku got angry and grabbed Akbar. This allowed Idol a chance to sneak up on Haku and catch him with a low blow for the surprise victory. Lance Russell tells us that Idol and the fans may be on the same side now but that doesn’t mean Idol is above the law.

2. The Tennessee Stud Stable (CCW) defeated Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden (CCW) when Ron Fuller tripped up his brother. Robert turned around and this was all that Eddie Gilbert needed as he caught Fuller with a Hot Shot.

Lance Russell and Jim Ross remind us to tune in for the second part of Music City Mayhem which will air on Tuesday night.

Lance Russell: So long from Nashville!

Trying to keep up with everything going on here with both of your shows. I like the double tournament... lots of talent to go around here. Duggan vs Doc is something special as they are very similar around this time. Tag match I am not as excited about... but still has some sizzle to keep things interesting. Looking forward to the results.
