[2000-03-25-MCW-TV] Reckless Youth vs Bull Pain

Probably the best MCW match so far unless I'm forgetting something obvious, which is a credit to both guys, but also to Todd Morton, who has some pretty creative ways to interfere in matches. I liked how this continued with all the interference until Youth took Morton and Al Kee Hall (what a stupid name) all out with the big dive to the floor. They did some variation on a top rope Vandaminator for the finish which didn't look good at all because Youth had to stand there holding the chair for a few seconds looking like an idiot. I wouldn't call this good, but I do think MCW is hinting at going in the right direction.

I enjoyed this. Bull is always a favorite and he was able to bully around Reckless which also played to his strengths. Morton on the outside is also a good second because he has that pipsqueak demeanor which can grate on you. This tournament overall for MCW was a good way to calibrate things even though not everything is a home run. **1/2

Original opening to the match with a collar and elbow tie up and Bull immediately dropping to his knees and turning it into a jawbreaker. He throws Youth to the outside allowing Morton and Al K. to get some shots in while he distracts the referee. Pain with a knife edge chop and he rakes Reckless’ eyes across the top rope. Whip to the corner, Youth with a foot up, an ugly looking DDT and Morton is in to break up the pin. Bull rolls to the outside where he is followed by Reckless. Pain with a suplex on the floor, before driving Youth backwards into the ring post. A couple of nice sit down leg drops for a near fall. Youth ducks a clothesline, stomps on Bull’s foot and he starts to fire back. Clothesline over the top rope to the floor, and as Morton and Al K. go over to help Bull, a flip dive out onto all three. Moonsault and a cover, however Al K. is up on the apron distracting the official. Morton has got a chair and climbs the turnbuckles. He throws it at Youth who catches the chair and Morton off the top with a dropkick for his modified Van Daminator. He puts Bull on top of Reckless, Al K. jumps back down from the apron and the referee turns around to count the three.

We have the misfortune of having Bobcat join Lance on commentary for this; she’s looking for a man, but is pretty annoying to listen to. Another solid little TV match, but I’ve yet to see anything in MCW that is great. I like the look if Pain’s offense, and he was controlling and dominating the majority of the match. Disappointing to see Youth fall for that finish, especially after last week where he span out the way of it. TBH, I don’t know why he doesn’t just side step the chair as you have plenty of time to see it coming and it’s a fairly logic defying move.

I didn't think much of this. It was a pretty simple and standard sub 10 minute match. The commentators constantly focusing on Bobcat was weird.

I did dig Reckless Youth's dive wiping out the entire KAW crew, but that was about it. The finish feel flat as Reckless Youth caught a chair and just stood there with it in front of his face waiting for Todd Morton to hit him with a missle dropkick.

Pretty forgettable.
