Might be the best performance I have ever seen from Christopher Daniels - his work over Dragon's neck throughout the whole thing was simply outstanding. I loved all of Bryan's comebacks too & his selling was very solid; him not being able to do the Cattle Mutilation because of the damage Daniels had done to his neck was awesome. I wasn't completely into it at first as I assumed Dragon was obviously winning to set up a winner take all match vs Low Ki in the main event. After the feeling out process, Daniels breaks the momentum with a back suplex and starts focusing on Dragon's neck. Daniels was vicious, hitting all manner of suplexes and neck holds, with Dragon hitting some nicely timed hope spots throughout. The finish was built up perfectly with Dragon unable to lock in the Cattle Mutilation due to the neck damage. When Daniels hit the piledriver, I was beside myself wondering how in the hell would it come off believable for Dragon to come back from that. And he didn't! Crossface by Daniels and Dragon tapped! The announcers were immediately better than the first show, building up Daniels' focus of the neck, talking about how it'll help his finisher while also commenting that Dragon never taps. Daniels's decade of extra experience paid off. Dragon was having a respect-driven match, putting on holds, playing clean. Daniels took advantage, damaging the neck, and Dragon was never able to respond with the same level of self-assuredness and string together enough moves to keep the control. After a 1st show main event where Daniels was the designated whipping boy, this match alone rehabbed him for the new RoH audience. Exceeded my expectations. ShittyLittleBoots Posted April 28, 2020 Report Share Posted April 28, 2020 Not as amazing as I thought it was in 2017, but it's still an excellent gem. Everyone knows about Dragon's match vs. Low Ki from this same show, but this is quite a gem as well. The early stuff w/ both guys looking to gain true control of one another is some really, really good stuff, and I especially loved how Dragon was so insistent on using that headlock to wear Daniels down. Once Daniels gets a groove going, he pays Dragon's plan of wearing-him-down-by-the-neck back, and he does it oh-so viciously. He is super focused on beating Bryan by dropping him on his neck & slapping on those submissions for good measure. It's a great, compelling-to-watch gameplan, and Dragon's selling of it is really good. Loved him not being able to hit his suplex, and then later on in the match not being able to lock in the Cattle Mutilation, 'cause of the damage done to that neck. Edwin Posted September 7, 2020 Report Share Posted September 7, 2020 They kept it short and simple with Daniels going back to attack the previously injured neck which Dragon did a good job at selling. They also had Danielson kick out of the Angels Wings to keep the story going of him being tough to put down and kicking out of everyone's finishers.
