Trish would have made more sense since she was actually a star in her era, and as far as I know, doesn't have a questionable criminal history.

Honoring Mae makes no sense even without mentioning the allegations, she's been put in a place of high regard in WWE Canon just for having a long career. It's like if MLB decided to rename the World Baseball Classic after some random journeyman infielder who managed to put together an unspectacular 20 year career.

Meltzer apparently said Lita was being considered as a commentator for the tournament. I hope not! She's awful in that role.

It's not about what Moolah did. It's about people knowing what she did. I wouldn't say it's common knowledge, but far more people knew about it than I would have expected when I tweeted about it months ago. It's not about the merits or faults of whether it should be considered. It's about if it's fairly known among fans that someone's reputation isn't on the up and up.

I wonder if Mae's the Joe Paterno to Moolah's Jerry Sandusky. Seems hard to believe those two could be close friends for so long and have no idea what was going on.

That makes no sense as an analogy. Paterno was the big boss who knew what his employee was doing and protected him because he didn't want any scandal to tarnish his legacy, which is ironic. Moolah was both the perpetrator and the boss.

Was Mae even around for this? I thought Mae trained Moolah, and then they met again and got together after Moolah retired?

Co-signed. And I like the woman.

I'm not sure who they can get if they really want a woman. Renee is an option, but she feels like a totally wrong fit for this tournament. She was great on NXT getting over people's characters and motivations and the storyline stuff, but I don't know how much she'd add to a wrestling-heavy tournament full of indy workers.

I'd rather they just go for good commentators.

I always thought Trish would be a great colour person for some reason.

Oh Jesus. Yeah, of all the women she's the one who could pull it off. Good talker and quick thinker and solid wrestling mind.

God damn, why did this never happen.

Would be better than anyone on the booth currently.

Lita can't be worst at announcing that she was at wrestling.

She was smart enough to leave wrestling.

I miss WCW. That's probably why I'm going through TNA TV instead of watching old territory stuff or "cool" indies of today, or NJ, or lucha.

This. Kudos to her.

I wonder how Mickie James would do in the role.

They can always use future WWE hall of famer and Diva pioneer Kelly Kelly.

Is Lapsed Lee Marshall still with us?  That would bring a whole different dimension to the broadcast.

The WWE app have confirmed the first four competitors in the mae young classic.

They are Toni storm, Lacey Evans, SarahLogan, and Princesa Sugehit. I know three of the four to varying degrees but the last name I have no knowledge of.

She's been in CMLL for a long time, nothing spectacular, but CMLL luchadoras tend to range from very good to trainwreck waiting to happen. This probably explains why they've been heavily (by their standards) implying she's going to have a mask match soon.

The woman she's suppose to have a mask match with is Zeuxis, who was at a WWE tryout last fall. Sugehit was also Sarah Stock's last opponent in CMLL.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Serena Deeb is in talks to come out of retirement for this.

I read today that Tessa Blanchard is now in this. I'm not familiar with her work but I loved her father's work. Is she any good? There have to be some people around here familiar with what she has done so far.

The few Tessa matches I've seen have been hit or miss. She does have talent, and I'd consider her a good prospect.
