UWF/CCW Television

Recorded on August 21, 1985 at the Sportatorium in Tampa, FL. In front of a live studio audience

Airing on Florida Superstation WTOG, Texas Superstation WTVT, and various television outlets throughout Alabama and Mississippi on Aug 31, 1985

Hosted by Gordon Solie & Joe Pedicino

Interviewer: Coach John Heath

Ring Announcer: Rhubarb Jones

***Highlights***

Missy Hyatt says she is going to lead the Grappler to the top of the UWF

Gordon talks about this Monday night's Four Corners Tag Team Elimination match to crown new #1 contenders to the Continental Tag Team Championship featuring The Desperados, The Southern Boys, The Interns, and the Von Erichs

Highlights are shown of last week's 'Badstreet Brawl' where the Freebirds defeated the Fabulous Ones in a non-title match thanks to interference from a large "fan" who ran in out of the crowd who Gordon said looked suspiciously similar to Terry Gordy….Michael Hayes said it must have been a "concerned citizen who was sick of seeing the Freebirds get cheated week after week".  Solie says this week there will be no interference from anyone as the Freebirds will face the Fabs for the Southern Tag Team titles INSIDE OF  A STEEL CAGE!!

The Nightmares came out joined by Baby Doll whose head was bandaged from being rammed into the ring post by Ms. Linda last week.  This week they will face off in a six person tag team match against the Exotic Hustlers (Adrian Street/Rip Rogers) & Ms. Linda….they are looking for revenge and plan to get it this Monday at Boutwell!

Freddie Blassie brings out David Sammartino who says he will defend the Southern Television title here tonight on television.

***Matches***

The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) w/Baby Doll defeated Johnny Jarrett/El Guapo with the tombstone/top rope legdrop combo

The Grappler w/Missy Hyatt pinned Star Man with a swinging neckbreaker

Anyone who played Pro Wrestling on the NES definitely got a kick of seeing the name of Starman on your TV this week. I know I did! :P

I love the Starman cameo for sure. I appreciate the condensed presentation of your show and what you've got going on. I love seeing Bam Bam over here and doing well before he heads back to Japan.  Interested to see what happens with David long term and how he is built and then utilized.

UWF/CCW Television

Recorded on September 10, 1985 at the empty Sportatorium in Dallas, TX

Airing on Florida Superstation WTOG, Texas Superstation WTVT, and various television outlets throughout Alabama and Mississippi on September 14, 1985

Hosted by Marc Lowrance

Marc Lowrance welcomes everyone to the 'World Famous Sportatorium" for this week's episode of Continental Championship Wrestling…..He says Fritz Von Erich will join us today with a HUGE announcement about the David Von Erich Parade of Champions and as well as some big news for the great Texas wrestling fans.  But first we will take a look at some action from Beach Brawl in Miami, Florida:

UWF Southern Heavyweight Championship

Mr. Olympia

Vs.

Freddie Blassie's Mystery Challenger

"Classy" Freddie Blassie's mystery challenger turned out to be the legendary former multiple time World Champion "Handsome" Harley Race!  Race went on to pin Mr. Olympia after a piledriver to win the UWF Southern Heavyweight Championship

===============================================================

Fritz Von Erich joins Marc to announce that not only is wrestling back in Dallas but it will soon be returning to Amarillo and Houston as well…..Big news coming next week!!  But, speaking of big news….Fritz announces that the "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes will be teaming up with the one and only "MODERN DAY WARRIOR" KERRY VON ERICH to take on Bruno/David Sammartino at the David Von Erich Parade of Champions at Reunion Arena in Dallas on Sunday September 22nd!  Fritz says we're going to take a look at Kerry in recent action, right now!

(Footage courtesy of WWF Wrestling Challenge)

Kerry Von Erich vs The Missing Link w/ Gary Hart (in a slick new suit)

-Let the rumors run rampant as Gary Hart is dressed to the 9s. He has got a slick new outfit on and he has got his man, the Missing Link ready to go. We see Link give Kerry a good run for his money, but Link doesn’t have what it takes to go up against the Modern Day Warrior. We see Kerry get the crowd going before delivering a couple of HUGE shots including that flying “Warrior Punch” as he calls it now that puts Link down and then Kerry locks in the claw and gets the 3-count.

===============================================================

Marc Lowrance says we're going to take a look at the match that led to the Main Event next week in Dallas, the match from Beach Brawl in Miami, Florida:

SEMI-MAIN EVENT

THE RECKONING

STEEL CAGE FINAL SHOWDOWN

Special Referee: Bruno Sammartino

"The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes

Vs.

"The Living Legacy" David Sammartino

As the match started David tried to climb out of the cage but Bruno pulled him back down and shouted at him "fight like a man!", Dusty controlled most of the match with some offense from David scattered here and there….both men were bloodied after being raked against the cage..Bruno mostly stayed out of the way and let them fight…but when it looked like Dusty was about to get the win, David reached in his trunks and pulled out the 'knux' that's been scoring him victories lately….Dusty grabbed his arm and pried the knux out of David's hand and then handed them to Bruno……Dusty then locked a sleeper on David in the center of the ring……Bruno lifted David's arm once and it dropped, he lifted it a 2nd time…and it dropped…..as he Bruno lifted David's arm a third time with his left arm….from out of nowhere he came around with a right with the knux on his fist and knocked Dusty out cold….David falls back on top of Dusty as he goes down….Bruno slowly counts…1---2--3!!! The Orlando crowd is IN SHOCK!! At first there's just stunned silence and then it turned into a near riot as fans threw things at the cage and some started trying to rush the cage and security and local police fought to escort the Sammartinos out of the cage and back to the locker room
