Otsuka is kind of a cult Bat Bat favorite but I am also fond of Nagai so overall I was really intrigued by this match and it didn’t disappoint. Otsuka took it to Nagai for a majority of the match with hammerlocks and his unique brand of throws. Nagai is always good at focusing on a body part and really exposing it. This time he goes after the midsection of Otsuka and just peppers him with kicks after kicks. Otsuka needs to find an equalizer and accomplishes that with a leg lock forcing Nagai to submit and winning the tournament overall. Good stuff. ***1/2 (6.8)

I thought this was a pretty cool match, but not a great one by any chance. Nagai so far has showed us he mostly shines when he's being paired up against Ishikawa. However, his spinning kick in the second half was great, as was he pulling out some more pro-wrestling related offense such as the powerbomb. I also dug the heel hook finish and Nagai's selling of it, but aside from that, there wasn't much else I dug out of this.

This was pretty fun. I mean, Nagai's a good little shitkicker and his strength is obviously in his kicks and knee strikes. Otsuka's able to get in a couple of deadlift suplexes but really, this was him trying to find a way to submit Nagai. Loved the big spinning heel kick from Nagai and his stiff flurry of kicks that ends in a shot to Otsuka's head. Otsuka takes the punishment but finds the submission in the end.

God, I hate the Samurai TV commentators. Otsuka and Nagai are having a gutsy mat exchange and they're having a conversation about Okinawa. I liked this a lot. The beginning was loose but then they tightened it up and build the bout from the mat up, which to me is a lot more satisfying than a stand-up contest. Nagai's big kick and Otsuka's improbable victory made this pretty memorable for a 10 minute bout. But I would have liked to have seen more of the yusho celebration instead of seeing dates for the Road Warriors 2000 tour of Japan.

Nagai impressed me here, his pressure, his offensive pressure, the slow but steady attack. Nagai stifles Otsuka and continues to grind him down leading to his fantastic head kick. Honestly the quick desperation submission by Otsuka left me feeling kind of flat.
