WWF Presents: Wrestling Challenge

Hosted By: Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby the Brain Heenan
Matches from: Hershey, PA – Hersheypark Arena

-A special edition of Challenge today with Gorilla and Bobby running down some of the shows from the Garden this past week. Bobby is gloating after Gorilla announces the first contest that they go in depth on… we cut to the ring.

From Madison Square Garden

TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Tito Santana & Barry Windham vs the Fabulous Ones w/ Jimmy Hart

-Gorilla and Lord Alfred are going on and on about how in the world The Fabulous Ones got a shot this quickly. Gorilla thinks that Jimmy Hart lined some pockets and maybe paid some people off. Lord Alfred wonders if it was Bobby Heenan who got the money because he should have gotten the rematch. Regardless, this is a very fun 18-minute contest with these guys going all over. Windham and Santana are flying with the Fabs who are selling well but also showing what their made of. Jimmy Hart is very motivated and animated outside of the ring. Around the 18-minute mark, we see a big tag to Windham who comes in with a house of fire and he is backing up the Fabs with some big time shots. Jimmy Hart gets up on the ring and he tries to swing with the Megaphone but he gets ROCKED by Barry Windham! Stan Lane from behind and he nails Windham who falls into the ropes. BAM! OUT OF NOWHERE! RICK RUDE! RUDE RAN DOWN AND NAILED WINDHAM WITH THE MEGAPHONE! Windham is laid out in the ring and he is busted wide open! Lane falls on him for the cover and the 1….2….3!! WE HAVE NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS! OMG! The crowd is shocked! Rude has disappeared. Inside the ring Jimmy Hart is going just absolutely wild for the Fabs with the tag titles! Gorilla and Hayes are in shock. Windham is helped out of the ring… once again… busted wide open by Rick Rude here in MSG just as he was a month ago.

-After the title change, we hear how Bobby Heenan sold the tag title rematch to Jimmy Hart after finding out that Chris Adams was going to injured for a longer period of time. He says that he is putting Adams out to pasture and that Gino Hernandez is going to be going solo from here on out and has a hope to get his hands back on the IC Title. Gorilla points out how Heenan has been getting money from Dibiase and now from Hart… he must be doing pretty well.

The Fantastics vs the Sheepherders

-A good 15-minute contest that goes all over the ringside area. We see fighting and brawling and even some flying here but when all's said and done it ends up being a double DQ.

Jake Roberts vs Gino Hernandez w/ Bobby Heenan

-The first of what Bobby Heenan calls Gino Hernandez’ revenge run for the title. He gets going here with a tough matchup against Jake Roberts and we see these guys battle each other pretty tough. Both men look really good though and the finish is controversial as Heenan does get involved. Roberts hits the running knee lift before prepping for the DDT but Heenan goes in and grabs his leg to serve long enough for Hernandez to come from behind with a big knee to the back and then a roll up with a handful of tights for the 3-count.  Hernandez and Heenan work the crowd. This is beginning of something beautiful as Heenan says that Hernandez wants some gold!

-Jesse and Vince open up the show putting over the big MSG show from this past week and we cut to the big tag team title match from that event!

Gorilla and Hayes are in shock. Windham is helped out of the ring… once again… busted wide open by Rick Rude here in MSG just as he was a month ago.

-We are back and Vince and Jesse continue to put over the big MSG card. They talk about how Bobby Heenan has been lining his pockets with help from Ted Dibiase and then Jimmy Hart. They put over Gino Hernandez as a challenger for the IC title and how the Heenan Family is on the rise!

Manny Fernandez vs The Missing Link w/ Mr. Fuji

-A great showcase for both men. Many is getting great at selling and right now Link is really only good for looking menacing. He poses a little threat but nothing major. The fight goes outside of the ring and we end up with a fun little moment where Link runs and nails Fuji when Manny ducks and then grabs him for a Brainbuster outside the ring! Manny rolls back in for a 10-count and the crowd pops. This one is far from over as the war has just begun.

Rick Rude w/ Bobby Heenan defeated Lars Vincent

Barry Windham: Man it is like something was stolen from me. Rick Rude… you took those tag titles from me and once again you busted open this wound that just won’t heal. Brother you and I have got a date with destiny and don’t think for a moment it won’t be paved with your blood, sweat, and tears!

Demolition defeated Bob Bradley & Barry Horowitz

-Ax and Smash are just a little more vicious here tonight. They really work over Bradley and Horowitz before getting the pinfall. Vince and Jesse put over how they have made their contention to be the number one contenders for the tag titles… but when will they get their shot?

-Vince and Jesse close out the show pumping up how next week we will have the first ever Body Shop with Jesse Ventura!

Good to see Gino back as a single here!

Looking forward to watching the Fabs run play out here, I think the WWF missed the boat on them back in the day.

Man, Heenan selling the title rematch to Hart and rigging it in the end against the guys who beat his team is such a freaking Heenan thing to do.  Great stuff.  The 'tastics vs. Sheepherders is a match I would go back in time and pay to see anywhere.

WWF Presents: Wrestling Challenge
Hosted By: Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby the Brain Heenan
Matches from: Brantford, Ontario, Canada – Civic Centre

Dino Bravo defeated Jerry King

-Dino Bravo is back here in the WWF and gets a nice pop from the Brantford crowd. He has got his dark hair and works babyface to get a nice reaction from the fans. He finishes things off with a big sidewalk slam for the 3-count.

-We see a video highlighting a new star… Bull Ganter. He is introduced by former WWF Champion, Superstar Billy Graham who is acting as his player/coach. They show the two of them working out and lifting crazy objects. Ganter has got a great body and shows off some strength before we cut to the ring with him in action.

Bull Ganter w/ Superstar Graham defeated Marty Jones

-Ganter is really a specimen. Graham is decked out in tie-dye and puts over Ganter as a babyface. He has got a great look and tremendous size. Graham puts him over outside the ring as does Gorilla on commentary. The finish sees Ganter pick up Jones on his shoulders and drops him right on his back (modified powerbomb) for the 3-count. These two guys are something special to keep an eye on.

The Sheepherders defeated Joe Green & Johnny Walker

-A good showcase for the Sheepherders who handle these two with ease. The finish is once again the count out victory as the Herders knock their men out of the ring and put them to the floor. Gorilla and Bobby put them over as a top tier team looking to make an impact and they will get that shot against the Fantastics before too long.

From Madison Square Garden

Brutus Beefcake vs Ted Dibiase w/ Big Bossman

-A simple enough return for Dibiase who is back on the biggest stage of them all. He is working the crowd into a frenzy. He is very fluid with his motions and looks double tough out there. Beefcake gives him a couple of good runs for his money (pun intended) but nothing major. We end up with Dibiase tossing Beefcake into the ropes where the Bossman CRACKS him with the Haliburton before Dibiase then cradles him up for a 3 count. Dibiase makes the money signs up the aisle as the crowd is really letting him have it.

Matches from: Brantford, Ontario, Canada – Civic Centre

Dino Bravo defeated Mike Walls

-Dino Bravo is back here in the WWF and gets a nice pop from the Brantford crowd. He has got his dark hair and works babyface to get a nice reaction from the fans. He finishes things off with a big sidewalk slam for the 3-count.

-We see a video highlighting a new star… Bull Ganter. He is introduced by former WWF Champion, Superstar Billy Graham who is acting as his player/coach. They show the two of them working out and lifting crazy objects. Ganter has got a great body and shows off some strength before we cut to the ring with him in action.

Bull Ganter & Superstar Graham defeated Nicky Jones & Erick Strong

-Bull and Graham together as a tag team today. The Player/Coach role is fun (think of Landell/Dundee) They play off each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Ganter once again hits the power drop as Jesse calls it for the victory.

x180-LAa.jpg

Jesse Ventura’s Body Shop w/ special guest Randy Macho Man Savage & Elizabeth

-Jesse and Randy go through his feud with Tito Santana. Savage says that he is tired of Santana being a little mosquito that he keeps swatting week in and week out. He is ready to squash him like the cockroach that he is. He and Jesse continue to take swipes at Tito Santana and put over how they will put an end to him before it is all said and done.

From Madison Square Garden

Brutus Beefcake vs Ted Dibiase w/ Big Bossman

Interesting to see Bull Ganter in the spot that Don Muraco was with Superstar Billy Graham in 1988. Can only benefit him.

I figure he's a Florida dude. Graham didn't do too much at this point in his career so player/coach works for him to get a big time rub.

I always felt Gantner could have done well in the WWF so this will be fun to follow, Graham should serve him well as a Coach/Mouthpiece.

WWF Presents: Wrestling Challenge
Hosted By: Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby the Brain Heenan
Matches from: Providence, RI – Civic Center

Bull Ganter w/ Superstar Graham defeated Tommy Gunn

Superstar: Lemme tell you something baby it is great to be back right here in the WWF and brother I have brought a Bull back with me. This is Bull Ganter and man we are going to take the WWF by storm. We are coming all the way through everyone and boy we are coming for some titles!

Special video with Freddie Blassie, the Iron Sheik, & Nikolai Volkoff

The Fabulous Ones w/ Jimmy Hart defeated Alex Coughlin & James Wright

Jimmy Hart: I told everyone that I had the premiere tag team in all professional wrestling and LOOK AT EM! Right here… they are truly Fabulous and the best team deserving these tag team titles baby!

Manny Fernandez defeated Bob Bradley

Manny Fernandez: You know a lot of people have been talking about Bull Ganter… well brother don’t forget that I am the Ragin Bull and as long as you stay out of my way you will be okay… and that goes for everyone else. I am starting to see Red right now and before too long… you mess with the Bull you get the HORNS!

Special video package putting over SNME on December the 21st from Pittsburgh!

Jake Roberts vs Ted Dibiase w/ Big Bossman

-A fantastics contest showing off the strengths of both men. This is really built up as a championship contender contest and it goes about 12-minutes. Bossman does some work outside the ring and ultimately leads to the demise of Roberts who just can’t get going. It is Dibiase who sets him up to get NAILED in the back of the neck by the Haliburton before Dibiase grabs him for the “Million Dollar Dream” as he’s calling it for the victory. He is screaming into the camera that Hogan is next and that title will be his!

WWF Presents: Superstars of Wrestling
Hosted By: Vince McMahon & Jesse ‘ The Body’ Ventura
Matches from: Providence, RI – Civic Center

Superstars opens with Jesse and Vince putting over the WWF Title match here tonight in the biggest way. They run down the card and the special six-man contest along with Demolition in action! Plus we hear about a new team from Mr. Fuji!

Rick Rude w/ Bobby Heenan defeated Mike Nichols

Barry Windham: Rick Rude, I think everyone know that you and I have had our issues with one another. Well brother, I think it is time we settle the thing. Madison Square Garden on November 25th… I am going to give you a taste of your own Bad Medicine!

Demolition defeated Los Conquistadors

-Just a complete domination from bell to bell here for Ax and Smash who continue to build up the ranks. Jesse and Vince put over how they are without a doubt the number one contenders and look forward to them challenging the Fabulous Ones!

Special video with Mr. Fuji showing off Elijah & Kareem… the Mercenaries.

Greg Valentine, Honky Tonk Man, & Jim Neidhart defeated SD Jones, Scott Casey, & Barry Horowitz

-A great showcase with Valentine and Honky really putting over the good here tonight but Neidhart is almost left out to dry. We hear that Bret Hart has been hampered with some knee problems and Jesse wonders if the Harts are going to be able to cut it with Jimmy Hart now that the Fabulous Ones are on the block and have the titles. Vince says that is crazy talk and inside the ring tonight is the Valentine getting the win over SD Jones. Biggest note of the event is that The Anvil never got in the ring!

WWF CHAMPIONSHIP

Hulk Hogan © vs Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan

-BIG TIME main event here with Hulk Hogan making a very very rare appearance on television and defending the title no less. He and Hercules have a fun 8-minute contest much like they did IRL around this time. It is a story of Hercules trying to wear down the back of Hogan who fights back at a furious pace. We see the Hulkster Hulk Up in a big way before putting Hercules down and out. This is only the beginning though as out of the shadows comes Ted Dibiase w/ the Big Bossman. They walk down to the ring while Hogan is posing and they are looking for trouble. Hulkster is just waiting for them to come in as he puts the belt down and welcomes them but Dibiase is a smart man. He bides his time but unbenounced to Hogan… it is GINO HERNANDEZ who grabs the WWF title and NAILS Hogan from behind! Hogan stumbles and turns before Hernandez runs and FLOORS HIM with the title belt right in the skull. Hogan is busted open while Dibiase and Bossman shake hands with Heenan and Hernandez. They walk up the aisle and this story has just taken another turn on the collison course of Hogan and Dibiase!
