Kris & David are joined by John Thorne (Absolute Intense Wrestling) to discuss the week that was December 27, 1997-January 2, 1998. We talk about the crazy week that WCW had with Starrcade & Nitro taking place amidst lots of injuries and rumors of big stars possibly leaving for the WWF. We then discuss Antonio Inoki retiring for good, The best of Japan in 1997 according to Nikkan Sports, ECW battling cable services again, and Raw at Nassau Coliseum where a 13-year-old Bix was in attendance. This is a tremendous show!!!!!

I was 10 at the time of that StarCade and I was only 2 years into being a diehard fan of Wrestling and that was by far the most hyped PPV up to that point, WrestleManias included. I don't really remember Nash vs Giant being billed so to me it felt like Hogan vs Sting was the only match hyped. Even WWF would at least put together a meaningful undercard. I just ordered WW3 that November and that show was very good before the WW3 match but this show just had people thrown together.

According to Bret it was Shawn who lobbied against Owen getting a chance to feud with him long term that's sad because I was hyped when he asked Shawn after the Shamrock match. Even as a kid it didn't make sense for Owen to feud with Hunter and not Shawn. Really good show here I wasn't a fan of WWF as much after Pillman died because that was probably the end of the Hart Foundation and the screwjob made everything seem so dark. WCW should've really picked up steam but they screwed Bret big time.
