[2000-12-06-WCW-Thunder] Goldberg vs Shane Douglas

WCW did a really good job of ripping off Perfect Strangers for Douglas' music. He runs down Nebraska and says he's going to end Goldberg's new streak. He also talks about General Rection, which makes it really hard to take him seriously.

Douglas gets an almost five minute promo, Goldberg gets a three minute entrance, and the match lasts a minute. Shane uses a chain right at the start to get some heat, but Goldberg hits a back suplex. Lex Luger walks out with Goldberg's trainer Sarge in the rack. Momentary distraction before a spear and a jackhammer. Not much to this.

Promo by Shane to start. Not much of note and it feels like he is trying too hard. Douglas as the bad ass heel just doesn’t work and he actually wants Goldberg to come out by cutting a promo on him beforehand. The promo lasts longer than the match. Shane is shocked that Goldberg answers the challenge I guess which makes him look like a goof. Douglas has a chain wrapped around his fist and punches Goldberg down before getting back suplexed. On the ramp, Luger is racking Sarge which distracts Goldberg trying to gain the countout. Douglas again stupidly attacks instead of letting Goldberg chase Luger. Spear/Jackhammer see ya. ½*

Shane Douglas is pissed off because General Rection took away his meal ticket, Torrie Wilson.  He thinks that someone in management mustn’t like Goldberg because they’ve booked him to face ‘The Franchise’ tonight and claims that he’s going to end the streak here in Lincoln, NE.  Prior to the match starting he jumps to the floor, out of his opponent’s view, where he wraps a chain around his hand.  Despite blasting him three times with the loaded fist he can’t drop Goldberg.  He counters the side headlock with a belly to back suplex when out through the curtain walks Lex Luger who has DeWayne Bruce up in the ‘Torture Rack’.  As Goldberg is about to leave and help his former trainer, Douglas attacks him from behind.  Not smart.  Goldberg powers out of ‘the Franchiser’, spear, jackhammer and he immediately takes off after Luger who has already scarpered.

If anyone thinks Shane Douglas is a good or underrated promo, I suggest watching this.  He takes five minutes to say what he could say in ten seconds and what he does say doesn’t go anywhere.
