Capt. Lou question

Over on DVDVR's "comments that don't warrant their own thread" topic, someone posted this:

So I was snooping around the Internet looking for what handhelds/fancams are available of WWF/WWE/WCW/NWA. I noticed there was someone who had listed a fancam of WWF's Boston show from December 8th, 1984. I go to look at the match listing on Graham's site, and this result was buried somewhere in the show:

"David Sammartino defeated Ken Patera via disqualification; during the bout, Sammartino and Patera tried to wrestle an Xacto knife from Capt. Lou Albano when Albano "lost it" and began cutting his forehead; in the melee, Sammartino's arm was heavily cut and he required 45 stitches"

This seems like quite the incredibly odd shoot incident, and seems like one that would have spread around more in a "tales of kayfabe lore" context. Anyone out there seen the video of this show? If so, is the quality watchable enough to make out what's happening? If so, how's the crowd reaction? This seems like a major "WTF?!" moment in the history of 80s WWF, and it's amazing the Captain lasted another two years before getting fired if he instigated something like this.

What's up with this? Was it an angle gone awry? A "cocaine is a hell of a drug" moment? Seems out of character for even heel Captain Lou to go all Abdullah the Butcher on someone.

Also, Albano got fired? I just figured he retired for age/heath reasons.

I can't remember whose shoot interview it was, but I do recall hearing a lot of stories about Captain Lou being a very heavy drinker, like two bottles of the hard stuff per show kind of heavy.

I also remember hearing that Lou was (along with Gorilla and some others) one of the people that Vince Sr. made Vince Jr. promise to keep employed. Lou, knowing this, used to ride Jr. about it: "What are you gonna do, you stupid mick, fire me? You can't! Your old man said so!" kind of stuff.

Some of the interactions between Lou and Vince on TNT and other 80s WWF shows is awkward as hell, like Vince always referring to him as Captain LOUIS Albano in that inflection only Vince can do.

Also, Bix if you have that match you have to upload it. My life won't be complete without seeing the Captian go FMW on someone.

Since it was never explained, the reason for Captain Lou getting canned in 1986 was that he apparently beat the shit out of Shane McMahon for stealing his liquor at a TV taping.

(He'd apparently bring two fifths of liquor to the building on TV days)

Vince called him on it afterwards and he pulled the "You can't fire me!" card and was proven wrong.

The Bulldogs being given Mathilda The Bulldog was apparently a jab at him, as he was managing the tag champs one week and replaced by a dog the next.

Given that story, I'm surprised he was brought back in 1994 to work with the Headshrinkers and Afa.

Wasn't the story that Shane kept calling Albano fat and Albano dared him to say it again and Shane did and Lou beat the shit out of him?

That's connected to it...

From what I remember, Shane used to come into the locker room, slap Lou's gut, and say "What's up, fat man?".

I think the time he beat the shit out of him was connected to when Shane stole his liquor as well, which was why he was in a particularly foul mood.
