--Bryan Danielson, Rocky Romero and Nigel McGuiness all reportedly suffered concussions on last night's ROH show. McGuiness also had a broken nose and needed 14 stitches

Romero (squashing someone) and Danielson were back tonight. R-O-H! R-O-H!

Fuck those guys.

P.S. How many concussions must Danielson have had by now? 25? 30? 40?

I doubt that dumb fuck can even count to 40 at this point. Hilarious that they're so intense about their choreographed and predetermined moves that they end up hurting themselves repeatedly.

What's ironic is that the flippy floppy type guys are not usually the ones who get hurt, it's almost always the Serious Wrestler types who get a concussion or break their eye bones and keep on working out of some twisted homage to fighting spirit.

Having said that, I've found ROH to be generally entertaining but it seems to be sort of like the original ECW where Gabe has the guys drinking the Kool-Aid to the point where if they're able to move at all then they go to work for the company.

We'll never know for sure how many concussions Danielson has. The even scarier thing is how much he'll have in the future.

But why "F*ck those guys"? I'm curious. This is coming from someone who was partially anti ROH (though not so much the wrestlers as they've always had talent) back in 2002

Does that make BJ Whitmer the new Tommy Dreamer? Tommy Dreamer never got to take a bullet for ECW, maybe Whitmer will be able to take one for ROH.

Well, I can't speak for Bix, but I assume he was saying either fuck the wrestlers for being dumb enough to risk brain damage or fuck the promotion for letting them do it (probably both).

Yeah, I want to spark a discussion here. Throwing some points for discussion out here, not really opinions.

Who else thinks "F*ck those guys"?

And if we do presumably say "F*ck those guys" for giving each other concussions, than do we say "F*ck everyone"? Because every wrestler is going to get concussions. People get concussed getting whipped into the turnbuckles. There are lots of people out there who don't wrestle ROH style and are basically screwed concussion wise. Tracy Smothers has big problems from what I hear. Maybe Jerry Lawler's bad memory is due to concussions? I'm certain his ring time didn't help there.

What's the answer?

What style should people be wrestling? Give an example from the past or present

Is ROH too over the top? Do their wrestlers need to be trained better or differently?

What about Japan or old Stampede wrestling? Too rough?

Well yeah, concussions are a part of the game, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a wrestler who has never had one. The point is that they wrestled THE NIGHT AFTER getting concussions, which is just plain dumb.

I see. Yeah, wrestling right after a concussion is dumb for your health but I don't think any wrestlers out there are going to stop doing that. Bret Hart's story on what happened to him inside and outside the ring was pretty scary when he got all those extra concussions after the famous one.

Which is why pro-wrestlers are fucking morons, which is why you can say fuck them. We all enjoy pro-wrestling to some degree or another, that is why we are here on a board talking about it. Its fuckwads like this, people who take multiple concussions and continue to wrestle who are going to turn into the guy who doesn't reach the age of 40 and give the form of entertainment that we enjoy an even worse rep.

I remember years, years, years ago a Bret Hart interview where he talked about how uncomfortable he was with the direction wrestling was taking, and how he always worked his punches, kicks, etc because part of being a good pro-wrestler is to put on a match that the fans can still suspend disbelief by working snug enough to make it look real, but to not injure anybody. Wrestling went from the crimson mask as a determinate of how brutal a match could be to it having to be able broken bones and concussions. It went from blood capsules and blading the forehead to legit injuries, and its ridiculous.

To fans now, they are so depraved that their favorite wrestler getting seriously injured is somehow validation for them for watching them fake fight. The wrestlers just buy into it and think that its some retarded badge of honor.

Hey, if the complaint is that concussions effect your judgment (and lead to things like killing your wife and child), is the wrestler fully culpable in his decision to get back in the ring? Obviously the concussion is at fault, right?

I do agree with the larger point though. Wrestling has become too high-impact for anyone's good. I bought that Ladder Match dvd a few months ago and I was hard pressed to find the matches as good as everyone thought. The only match that got better on second viewing was Undertaker/Hardy, and that was because it sold a story more than highspots.

There's also the issue of the booker/promoter letting them wrestle.

Vince can take steps, but most indy promoters operate so close to the margins that it would be financial suicide. Not that things should be that way, it's just the reality.

I'm not talking about most indy promoters.

Honestly, fuck the fans who complain about it. They're contributing to the problem.

WO.com E-Mail bringing up some of the same points

In the end, I'm not sure this guy goes far enough - he seems content to mostly blame McGuinness for what happened, and while that's true, Gabe told Dave two months ago that the wrestlers were working a less high impact style, and saving the dangerous stuff for big matches. While I guess the Aries/McGuinness match was big in scope, NOBODY should be taking full force head shots to the ring post knowing that the end result is going to be a concussion, particularly when said wrestler is scheduled to wrestle again the next night. For all of Gabe's posturing about how the ROH locker room has learned from Benoit, it's clear that they haven't, and they're doing stuff even Benoit would have turned down. It will be interesting to see if the promotion has any sort of reaction to what happened Saturday night, or if it will just continue to be business as usual, and Gabe will just spin away to Dave in next week's Observer, saying that this was just a one-time thing again.

One more thing - don't you think that spots such as two head-first shots to the guardrail could be avoided if ROH actually had, you know, road agents? You know, the same dreaded road agents Gabe confessed to "not believing in" on the ECW booking DVD he did a few months back? Somebody to tell these psychopaths "Whoa wait a minute - you're going to do WHAT?"

I think it's awesome to see the Great Technicians~! are dedicated to their craft enough to not let their idol's double murder/suicide deter them from busting their asses. It shows a determination and pride in one's work that, quite frankly, we don't see enough of nowadays. Fuck the haters.
