Dave Meltzer stuff

People voting on Meltzer/Alvarez talking points without actually watching the things they're voting on. Smackdown as a better show than Raw and Jericho as a top ten worker in the world in 2017 is hilarious. Did Jericho even work a match after May?

correct me if im worng but do not he WON award go nov-nov

I always get confused when people here call Observer subscribers a niche or an isolated subset. Compared to what? More people probably voted on the Observer awards this year than have ever posted on this board in its entire history.

Anyway, my biggest problem with the results was Marty Scurll's finger break making the Best Wrestling Maneuver top ten. It might actually be my least favorite maneuver in wrestling history. Also, I'm mildly surprised that Orton/Wyatt at Mania beat out House of Horrors for Worst Match.

Bucks ahead of Usos as best tag team is all one needs to see to know what the awards are all about currently.

based on what i have seen the uso are not to great not saying the bucks are either but to be the best team of any year then need to match matches the level of the HDA vs Kobashi or the queenodm tag or the Kikuchi Kobashi vs can am tag on some sort of consistent basis witch im sorry the usos do not and very never will for many reason 1 being thay will never get a reaction like Tsuyoshi did that day in sandai and they do not have the pure in in ring techqinue skill or talent oif HDA or misawa and Kobashi

i have a very harsh measuring stick for all thing wrestling before you say oh there only in tv most of the Japan stuff you have seen is TV stuff so its fare comparison to make

I think the Usos were pretty clearly the best tag team of the year. The New Day matches alone were fantastic and the Cell match was an arguable low-end match of the year contender. And even before New Day, they had really good stuff with American Alpha and fun work with Breezango.

As for the Bucks, I thought they had some good stuff against Roppongi Vice.

Raw sucks.

It sucks.

What are people praising about it? Good matches in a vacuum? Inconsistent and repetitive storylines? Ever since going to 3-hours it's been a chore.

And it looks like the majority of voters agreed. Seriously, it's not like 2004 or 2007 where there were a bunch of scattered gems over 3-4 month periods.

If you want to argue it's not the worst wrestling show I have no issue with that. But in no way, shape or form is it in contention for best show.

And since the voting covers a year, it doesn't even matter if you think it's better than Smackdown at the moment. Smackdown started off pretty hot last year (continuing from 2016's brand split) before falling off a cliff near the end.

Yeah, I'm pretty confident in saying the Usos are the greatest tag team in WWE history and that last year was their best year. I think you havne't seen enough.

It's been the best for a long time now. Yes, being three hours sucked for a long long time, but they figured it out. The time flies by, has good stories, and great great matches.

I don't know if I would vote Raw the worst show. But I think it's a pretty fucking terrible TV show. It's a tedious chore with a shit ton of filler more often than not. You can usually go on YouTube and just watch the good match and the one segment you care about. It's far more tolerable in the chopped up 90 minute Hulu show.

I am pretty confident in saying that Usos vs New Day is the best tag team rivalry of the modern era, maybe even more than the Smackdown Six era, and should be mentioned in the same breath as Rock N Roll vs Midnight Express.

I was just thinking how not only have I never seen them have a bad match, I don't remember seeing them have one anything less than great.

Just curious about when was the last time you watched it.

Coach is actively bad. Besides the fact that he adds nothing to the table, Cole and Graves barely interact with him, unless he makes some ultra stupid mistake, like saying that Bo Dallas was Rhyno.

RAW has been a DELIGHT to sit through and I'm watching the full version, and in no way it was a worse show than SmackDown in 2017. Just no way. Even taking in consideration the pre-Mania months they had of good television that year.

To me, RAW isn't the worst, nor is it the best. Each week there are things I skip through but I watch most of the show. The matches are often good to borderline great. My biggest complaint about that is they tend to happen in a vacuum and don't have a lot of meaning behind them. I can appreciate that to a degree but sometimes it just feels like treading water. Smackdown was hot for a while but the Shane/Bryan/KO/Sami stuff has really started to wear on me.

Edit: This is probably an unpopular opinion (well, no probably about it) but I honestly think Impact has become a really decent show. I look forward to it each week. Same with ROH. The hour format makes ROH easy to sit through for me and there is usually something entertaining, even if it isn't technically a great match. At the very least I know I'll get something fun. Does CWF Mid-Atlantic's show count for this? That's also a fun show.

Septemberish I think. I was following it and hockey season was starting and I found the Lesnar/Strowman thing to be a real turn off. I thought the summer months were generally pretty boring outside of good segments for the main program.

I remember when The Usos never made TV & were cooking chicken on YouTube and I said they should use them because they're good. I got one right! They are good & putting them on TV was a good thing.

Grimmas, I agree with you completely. And I watch the HULU version. But if they could make a Mute Coach ap, it would be swell.

He stinks.

I dont blame him as he got tossed right into this without any time to relearn it, but I cant wait for him to just become mediocre. Which is his ceiling.

I watch the Hulu version and I actually look forward to watching it every Tuesday AM at 5:30. I don’t know the last time I actually looked forward to it (1999-2000?) but I pretty much have every week since about Hell in a Cell time. I can’t even convince myself to watch Smackdown most weeks.

Watch 2010 Usos, they were pretty bad. it took them a minute to figure it out.

Usos were so so in 2010. They turned face by mid 2011 and got good as faces really quickly.

I loved their face run, whenever it was. They eventually got stale (around the Dudleys feud) but were still good, just stale. Heel run has been at another level.

They fucking rule.
