World Cast: A WCCW Review

22 August 2017 - 06:05 PM

Episode #1

Pete, Kelly and Johnny are back in action with this all-new podcast devoted to a chronological look at WCCW's World Class TV show, as found on the WWE Network. First up is January 2, 1982. There is a different host and different theme music. "Big Daddy" Bundy is wearing jeans and a rope belt, and Kevin Von Erich is wearing wrestling boots. Yes, this isn't the World Class everyone knows and loves quite yet!
Sit back and enjoy this journey through a bygone era with the boys, it's going to be a blast!

Not watching Raw, but it sounds like Cass may have suffered a bad injury during his match with Enzo

Summerslam 2017, or How to get through a 6 hour show with a little help from your frien...

20 August 2017 - 02:30 PM

Here we are in 2017, where the major WWE shows are more bloated than a mid-70s Yes album. Last night's Takeover was the punk rock alternative, five matches in less than 2 1/2 hours. That's a sensible length. To say the least, I haven't been a fan of the super long shows of the last few years. Looking at the card, a few matches should be very good, and the main should be great. But is the damage to the soul worth it to get there?

Anyway, I'm watching with a buddy and have plenty of beer in the fridge, with a back up plan of watching old school wrestling on youtube if we lose interest. I'll be tuning in for the main and Jinder vs Nak at the very least

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. John Cena (WWE Smackdown 8/1/2017)

02 August 2017 - 04:58 PM

Great match. Nothing mind blowing, but this is presumably the first of multiple encounters in the next year or so between them, so things will only get more epic. That said, I really liked this match. I thought it had a good flow with nothing wasted. The closing stretch was well done and the crowd was fully invested. No tricks, just an old fashioned "scientific match" with a clean as a sheet finish. The bump at the end was nasty and could've been disastrous. Instead, it added a dose of "real" to the match, the unplanned kind, and fortunately for everyone involved served to make things feel more epic and not tragic. Excited to see what these guys will do against each other in the future.

WWE Battleground

23 July 2017 - 07:53 AM

Going into this one pretty cold. I haven't seen anything from Smackdown since the women's MITB rematch, whenever that was. Looking at the card it should be a good show, with a few possible standout matches.

Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden English (pre-show)
Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton Punjabi Prison match
The Usos vs. The New Day
John Cena vs. Rusev
Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch vs. Natalya vs. Tamina vs. Lana
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Baron Corbin
AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens
Sami Zayn vs. Mike Kanellis
