  1. Elgin probably sexually assaulted a women. Dave called her a liar. He never talked to the women, instead he talked to Elgin and used a tumblr blog as his source. Let's get a few things straight. You've already been corrected on the Egin thing (although she has insinuated that Elgin was manipulative towards her). Dave never called her a liar; he stated that, "the text messages released were heavily edit with many things said that were erased." Thirdly, he didn't use tubmlr as a source. All this broke in October/November and he commented on it following that. The tumblr page went live a 3 weeks ago. It was shared on Wreddit and Mo herself replied to a tweet with the link subsequent to that. That's when Dave made the mistake of posting the tumblr link without context or comment. We don't know if he talked to Elgin. He apparently didn't talk to the woman, so you are right there. Read that sentence. Re read that sentence. Then re-read it again. Then re-read it again and again until you understand everything that is wrong with Dave Metlzer's editorial style. If Meltzer's subject and verb aren't even in agreement, and his tense is out of order, how can we agree that his facts are in order? That's what I see as the biggest problem with Metlzer's handling of serious topics. His writing reads like it was written by a 12 year old who just snorted some adderall. Your qualms about his writing style shouldn't allow for the facts of the matter to be conflated, which is why I posted. I've read what he's written in the Observer. I've had no difficulty understanding him on this or past "serious topics." You are taking issue with his post on a message board, which is fair enough since my above post was intended to correct a forum post with an accuracy ratio of 1:4. But I don't think a forum or twitter post is indicative of a an "editorial style". His tact or judgment on commenting in such venues? Sure.

  3. I know quite a few people who's first live wrestling show will be Wrestlemania and no doubt that John Cena is the person they all want to see. The women, specifically, only really know the wrestlers from Total Divas and view John as THE superstar. I think a lot people who buy a ticket or purchase the show, hardcores notwithstanding, will want to see him in a big time match.
  4. I don't subscribe to the idea that there is this huge disparity between the quality of wrestling pre-1996 and post-1996. There was sssoooo much shitty wrestling, typically outweighed by that fact that the presentation was mostly great. The inverse is true today. Having said that, I would still take pre-1996 because, having grown up with it, I can somehow watch crap Dr. D David Shultz vs Salvatore Bellomo match and still find it nostalgic and kitschy and fun, while I have no desire to watch Kofi Kingston again, no matter how much better a match he has.
  5. My god was tonight's Warrior special amazing. So shockingly genuine, brutally honest, and tremendously edited. The CM Punk doc was a great film, but this one is even better. It is shorter in length, but because there are so many more years of history, so much more never-before-seen footage, more interesting talking heads, and a much more dramatic story and ending--it is more interesting biographical piece. The McMahon family talking heads were fascinating. -Vince crying made me cry. -Hunter asking Hulk not to interact with Warrior until after the Hall of Fame so as not to ruin the good vibes -Watching Linda's interaction with Warrior, I can't help but think of how devastated she must be.
  6. Jeremy Botter ‏@jeremybotter I am of the hope that the era of men who felt they needed to take steroids in order to better entertain us is well and truly over.
  7. No. He a)has been with the company since the beginning and is considered the only homegrown face of the company, b)is a close friend and favorite of the Carter family, and c)signed his deal in 2009 when the company was throwing money around preparing for their Monday Night run
  8. Not Michelle Beadle, apparently. I swear, Punk doesn't seem to have a type does he? He probably would have dated Chyna if they would have crossed paths. Oh, and Meltzer is reporting there is a cartoon being passed around backstqge making fun of AJ's desire to be just like Lita IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY. I can't wait until that leaks. UPDATE: Found it: Yikes.
  9. Well, the story comes from before Ken was in the the UFC and obviously before he was in the WWF. The Nasty Boys were harrassing a girl and bulllying her date/boyfriend. Ken saw this but couldn't do anything about it at the moment, so later that night he goes up to their room to start crap. They outnumber him and fuck his shit up REAL good, even putting him in the hospital. He didn't see them again until years later at that airport. I agree, it's fair game to knock someone out, but to knock them out and then brutalize the person is pure cowardice.
  10. After years of hearing about how Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar both had to deal with people (including each other) trying them during their careers, I wonder if there were ever any stories of people challenging Shamrock during his WWF run?
  11. Well he was talking about height, so the comparison made sense. I found the joke about Bryan's beard touching the ground more insulting, though.
  12. Which iteration? Serious 1980's Conquistadors or irreverent 2000's Conquistadors?
  13. Watch the 2K14 symposium, and you'll get a couple of new drinking stories. Actually, it seems all of Ric's stories involve drinking. Here's the thing though--isn't fun anymore. Ric drinking and partying, flirting and spending, banging around behind his wife's back and not giving a fuck about anyone other than himself seemed more acceptable, in a weird way, when he was still working and stable. Now, it's clear that his life has gone further to shit without the rigid stability of being a wrestler. His hall of fame comment about his wife asking him when he was going to grow up wasn't nearly as sad as his reaction to the comment was. And especially now with the death of his son, you can tell he is drinking himself into oblivion, just waiting/hoping to get a call from WWE to come back and wrestle again.
  14. Fun fact: Dave didn't have to pay to see that Wrestlemania either. He got tickets from...Vader!
