Did Meltzer or Keller or anybody ever provide any insight about what the WWE writers were thinking during that period? It seemed shocking how tone-deaf they were to the audience reactions for Bryan, even by WWE standards.
  2. I'm watching ROH TV and there was an ad for Chikara which mentioned shows in Philadelphia. I'm in St. Louis. Is Chikara buying national ad space on ROH tv? Is ad space on ROH TV that cheap?
  3. I voted Roku, as I got a Roku stick a few weeks ago with their promotion. Before that, I would watch it on my laptop, and rarely watched it outside of PPVs and NXT live specials. I watch a bit more now, but the mess of a search and lack of chapters on the PPVs is annoying.

I fully expected the "big angle" that was rumored before this past RAW would be The Authority keeping Bryan out of the Rumble or firing him "to protect his health" or something like that. I guess they're saving that angle for those of us that pay $9.99 a month.

I think that Harper & Rowan had a previous match with no build a few weeks ago.
  6. I have to disagree with the praise for WWE's camera work. They may cover up "sloppiness," but they do so by not letting you see anything. To me it screams "this is fake and these guys aren't really hitting each other" when they change cameras to some obscured shot every time a guy does something. I just re-watched the Shield vs. Wyatts match from Elimination Chamber and remembered why I couldn't get in to it as much as everybody else seemed to - the constant switching of cameras to the point that you never got a decent look at anything in the match. I'm not asking for WWE to simply set up a hard-cam and let it go, but their decision to hide the mistakes ends up hiding the action along with it.
  7. If you're looking for matches with specific guys, the Match Finder on thecubsfans' website is an amazing resource. You can even limit the results to matches tapes for TV and/or those with youtube links.
  8. Does anybody have more details about Rey as a draw? Did the PPVs during his feud with Eddie draw any better or worse than usual? I agree that looking at his title reign might not give the best insight, as the booking was atrocious and seemed designed to not draw a dime, but there has to be some way to determine if he was a PPV draw or not. Did PPVs with any other high-profile feuds (vs. Punk and vs. Jericho come to mind) see any change in buyrates?
  9. Batista already did the "Kanye interrupting somebody during an awards show" bit.
  10. A lot of good feuds highlighted in this thread. I also really enjoyed the Ogawa vs. Hashimoto feud, and it's one of the first feuds from Japan I really got into, as opposed to individual matches. I've always loved Andy Kaufman vs. Lawler. I wasn't really a wrestling fan until I was 17 or so, but I was a huge Andy Kaufman fan and was always really interested in his wrestling stuff, even though I really didn't have much access or exposure to it outside of "I'm From Hollywood." Once DVDs made buying lots of old footage way more affordable, I got a comp of the feud and have watched it multiple times. Kaufman is perfect, as his Memphis/Lawler hate meshes with his eccentric reputation. I am pretty sure Kaufman didn't live in those houses, have hired help, etc. but it made perfect sense for a weirdo like him to waste his money just to taunt Lawler/Memphis with those things.
  11. Is the Savage documentary the one from the new DVD?
  12. The RAWs and Smackdowns on Hulu have episode titles, but I'm not sure when that started. I only noticed in the Spring. Do the episodes on the Network? If so, how far back? I wonder what poor intern had to go through and name every episode of RAW in 2001 or whatever.
  13. Thecubsfan has some yearly win/loss totals somewhere on his site, and the biggest takeaway is that tecnicos almost always win. It makes some sense - they're "tecnicos" because they're better wrestlers, rudos will opt for a DQ or quickly submit if things aren't going their way, etc. So, don't expect much variety in CMLL in terms of how matches are laid out. Rudos win when they are facing guys lower on the card than them, or to set up future matches. I don't watch a ton of current CMLL, but I definitely scan the matches that show up each week and will watch any that have matchups that catch my eye. For example, last week Guerrero Maya Jr. and Rey Hechicero were on opposite teams, so I made sure to watch that just to see those two work together.
  14. If we are talking about guys that seemed destined for bigger/longer runs, I have to agree with the Ahmed Johnson pick. I wasn't watching wrestling around 95/96, but my brother did and between what I oversaw while he was watching plus whatever WWF game was on the playstation around that time, I always assumed Johnson had a WWF Title run. It wasn't until like 2000 that I realized he wasn't a former champ.
