  1. RAW 02 January 18, 1993 Manhatten Center New York City, NY 1. 'Terrific' Terry Taylor v. Mr. Perfect: Taylor's an excellent chickenshit heel in this match. He's outclassed by Perfect, so he resorts to cheap tactics to swing the advantage his favor. Some neat back-and-forth exchanges between the two. Perfect has great punches. Flair interrupts the proceedings and beats the piss out of Perfect as Taylor distracts the referee. Perfect's tossed back into the ring and immediately counters one of Taylor's moves into the Perfect Plex for the pinfall. He runs to the back to find Flair. Good match up until the beat down - which ended up being no-sold and completely inconsequential. Rating: **½ 2. Marty Jannetty v. Glen Ruth: No adult should ever wear tassels. Jannetty does a ton of uninspired arm-work on Ruth over the course of the match. He goes back to it constantly and it's not particularly engaging. Ruth barely gets any offense in. Jannetty seems perpetually bored/sleepy based on his facial expressions. Match ends rather abruptly with Jannetty scoring the pinfall with the Rocker Dropper. Rating: *¼ 3. 'El Matador' Tito Santana v. Ric Flair: Good television match. Flair bumps like a maniac for Santana. I said earlier that Taylor played a tremendous chickenshit, but Flair's got the role down to a tee. Great Flair control segments/cut-offs. Santana is red-hot and the crowd rallies behind him during his comeback. Match ends in DQ after Perfect interferes and brawls with Flair all the way to the back to end the show. Rating: **¾
  2. Thanks, but to be more clear: I'm talking matches on '93 RAW's and PPV's. I don't plan on venturing beyond the Network.
  3. Completely new to 90's WWE. Figured I might as well blog about it. I'll try and review/rate every single WWE match that happened in '93. Can't be bothered to summarize promos/non-wrestling segments, though. RAW 01 January 11, 1993 Manhatten Center New York City, NY 1. Koko B. Ware v. Yokozuna [with Mr. Fuji]: Koko manages to stagger Yokozuna with a couple of dropkicks after multiple failed attempts at trying to knock him off his feet, but it’s all for naught. Yokozuna squashes Koko with the Banzai Drop. Rating: * 2. Steiner Brothers v. Executioners: Scott Steiner's hair is glorious. I grew up watching him as Big Poppa Pump, so this iteration of him is a refreshing contrast. Steiners absolutely dismantle these dudes with suplexes and bombs in another, more enjoyable, squash match. Steiners get the pinfall after a killer Steinerizer. Rating: *¾ 3. Max Moon v. Shawn Michaels [intercontinental Championship]: First match on the card that’s given time to develop. Michaels’ heat segments are a bore. No real flow to the match. Outlandish costumes aside, Moon doesn’t stand out at all. His babyface comeback gains no traction. Michaels retains with a Teardrop Suplex. I almost fell asleep. Rating: *½ 4. Damian Demento v. Undertaker [with Paul Bearer]: It's strange seeing a green Undertaker. He's kind of stiff. His movements feel mechanical. Hmm. Nothing about the actual match is worth articulating. Undertaker gets the pinfall after a Tombstone. Rating: DUD
  4. Here's a compilation of Chris Benoit chops. Hardcore Holly had a helluva chop, too. I remember him, Eddie, and Benoit absolutely killing Daniel Puder with chops in the Royal Rumble, but don't remember which one.
  5. I don't have much to say, so I'll keep the introduction short: I'm 20. From NY. I've been watching wrestling on-and-off since... the mid-2000's, I think. Mostly WWF/E, but with the advent of the Network I've been meaning to expand my palate and also do a little catch-up on old 90's RAWs. Anyways... been lurking for a couple of months now. Glad to finally be here. Looking forward to discussing graps with you all.
