  1. Is there anyone else who values consistency as much as you do for this list, though? A guy like Williams is only "exposed" if you feel that the stinkers detract meaningfully from his case. I view things with no demerits. Any given match I watch can only improve someone's standing. Except Inoki, I guess, where the suck is so powerful that it diminshes his best stuff. Meanwhile, Hase matches leave me so cold. He's the japanese Dean Malenko.
  2. Submitted! I hate my ballot. All my comments on the ballot are just castigating myself for all these relative positions that I can't justify even to myself now. But if I kept tweaking it until I didn't hate it I would never be done.
  3. So is Dave going to hook us up with recommended matches for his CA boys?
  4. Buddy Rose and El Dandy 1 and 2 These responses have made me 75% more likely to vote based on peak.
  5. I'm probably just treading the same ground cubsfan already covered more eloquently, but I hate the implication of this: that the primary motivation for your research was to actually get a dude in Meltzer's Hall. That feels like giving up on watching all the footage for the Greatest Ever project because wwe.com has already crowned Shawn Michaels. The Observer Hall is at least 75% a joke. The candidacy rules are hilarious, many of the voters are absurd and there are several laughable guys already in. When you and Dave do your annual Hall of Fame podcast eps those aren't -really- about Meltzer and his goofy list. The Observer just provides a jumping-off point. You're speaking to the Remnant. And the Remnant are aching to hear about Greg Valentine's impact on 70s houses.
  6. I watched a pile of GWF Barry matches on Youtube and my ardor has faded a bit. I could see why I was high on him in 1991: big offense. Probably as big a moveset as the notable Global tape-trader spot guys, though he can put a match together better than Jerry Lynn. I really liked his tournament match against Eddie Gilbert. It's heel vs heel, and they work the conceit that Eddie is obviously better, but Barry has him on his heels and looks to be on the verge of pulling off the upset. Cute inversion of the way you'd work underdog face vs face champ. Unfortunately when he's working dopes like Chaz the matches don't convey much of anything. Barry is just getting stuff in. It's difficult not to credit Gilbert for what made that match work. Still ranking him ahead of Brad, though.
  7. Holy hell do I want a Barry Horowitz nomination thread now. Where are my Global tapes?

    Eric Embry

I have loved every Embry performance I have ever seen, but I need to really binge on his highlights to know how high I can get away with putting him. I am going to need some help here. I've seen the Invader match mentioned above, and all his 80's set appearances. What else do I need to be tracking down? Who can pitch the top 5 Embry matches?
  9. Dean Ambrose as Terry Funk was the greatest thing about the whole show. Brilliant hot tag with a rebound lariat and the figure four. Then his sympathy run gets the crowd nuclear for the whole extreme back end.
  10. I put a lot of weight on peak vs peak. Obviously everyone's brought up the Vader matches, but I also cannot put any Luger matches next to the Beach Blast Sting/Cactus match. If there are five Sting matches you like more than your favorite Luger match, can you still vote Luger? (If yes, what is the pivot? Ten?) Sting would surely win on longevity too, but I'm not going to be the guy to catalogue his TNA performances. I will go as far as saying he was clearly competent in the stuff I saw in 2006 or so.
