  1. Growing up without the sheets or internet I just thought Rene was a douche with a bad haircut.
  2. What is the Date on the Pro match v Barry?

  4. Demolition Brain Busters The Eliminators Doom
  5. I haven't watched in years but growing up I always liked watching Bravo, Valentine, Martel & Tito and they were basically JTTS by 89 but they could take a star right to the limit & could fued within the mid card level & be entertaining.
  6. I am more in line with this kind of thinking. Jobber matches can be fun to watch but week over week they become boring. I would prefer to see a mix of Time limit draws 6/8/10 man tags (Elimination, 1 fall & 2 out of 3 falls) JTTS who also exchange wins over other JTTS from time to time TV time remaining matches that end in draws due to the show running out Double pins that result in a rematch Talent coming in for short peroids to be filler programs. I also liked when a tag wrestler would job to a singles wrestler in a singles match and the announcers would blame his lack of singles expierence or some such reason. It allowed more name v name matches without having to worry about killing a push. I always liked how the NWA/WCW TV Title had a short time limit. The champ didn't have to win each match he just needed to survive. This isn't totally what you are looking for but I think it will shed some light on it Clearly the NWA was geared more towards adults & had a much higher quality of marquee match across all of their shows. The problem was that their # 1 show was a cable show so it wasn't in every home. Inconjuction their syndicated programs weren't on top tier local channels. They had few video releases outside of the PPV's & no televised house shows. COTC was often time better than SNME in my eyes but again it was on cable. In the 80's cable wasn't a common staple of life, it was a luxury to most @ least in my area. The WWF was geared to families and with much better syndication. They had 2 hours on free TV every week (@ least in my area Superstars & Challenge) & had SNME on NBC which usually featured mostly name v name matches. Most importantly to me & my friends growing up they released CHV's featuring name vs name matches. I know a lot of people look down on them now but back then for a person without cable CHV's ruled the earth. If you had cable & lived in the right market you could get a televised house show, PTW & the syndicated shows. With all that being said the other major differences were that the WWF had people built up as Super Heroes (Hogan, Warrior, Andre, Undertaker, etc) Where as the NWA didn't really have that. The Road Warriors were the exception to that, but even Nikita seemed beatable against the correct challenger. So when the NWA had a high profile match like Flair v Windham on WWW in 87 it was a great match. Chances are no matter who Hogan faced it was going to be a one sided affair or go thru the usual Hogan antics. But again that was based upon the audience the promotion was targeting. both promotions were booked with house shows being the big ticket.
  7. I didn't have cable until about 91 Before we got cable I was able to watch WWF Superstars & Challenge on mainstream free TV (I beleieve it was a FOX channel but I could be wrong) & SNME on NBC. I was able to watch Pro or WWW NWA on some weird local channel, I think was KDOC or something out of the normal channel range. I also rented CHV's & PPV's weekly from my local video store. Between this & Superstars being the #1 show for the WWF I never felt like I was missing much. Once I got cable I started watching everything I missed but by then I was WWF all the way. Looking back I feel like the NWA had a better product on TV but the time slots, channels & lack of rentable videos made the WWF more appealing to me.

  9. Demolition has always & will always be my favorite tag team & they are @ times my favorite thing about Wrestling. Growing up I was always a Demo fan & as I got older & watched my tapes more & more I grew to like them even more but for different reasons. As a child I liked them because they kicked butt & had awesome theme music. I really dug how they would take anyone on & win, lose or draw they never acted weak. As I grew older I learned to appreciate the simple things they did so well. They always did a good job of playing to there own strengths & they never got tied up trying to impress the crowd or got fooled into playing the other teams game. They also always did a good job of only doing things that made sense. They never got caught trying to do a high flying move or did some stupid spinning move. They just kept moving forward @ there pace & played the game the way that best suited them. I don’t mean this from a “smart point of view” I am speaking from a regular pro wrestling fan point of view. I felt this way long b4 I knew about move sets or work rate etc. As far as the whole Roadies v Demo situation I never really cared for the Roadies after the 4th or 5th time I saw them. Maybe it was because I only saw them squash teams on NWA TV but they seemed to unbeatable to be interesting to me. It was like the Ultimate Warrior, you just new he was never going to lose. If it is to predictable it becomes boring, I liked that Demo could lose & still come across as tough dudes. I don’t have the dirt sheets from back then so I have no idea what the smart opinion was but copy or not I prefer Demo. The only thing I really hated about Demo was how they went out. @ the time I was just pissed but looking back I wish they would have repackaged them as a updated Demo w/ a new look. I think if they would have taken them off the screen after the WM loss & brought them back in better shape w/ shaved heads & w/ Ax as the manager I think they could have gotten another few years out of them. I am not going to deny that by 91 Smash was looking out of shape & Crush looked goofy. Ax & Smash had growing bald spots all of these things could have been fixed but for some reason they weren’t. I don’t like them any less because of it but I think the WWF wasted them a little by not correcting it & giving them another shot. The tag division was pretty lame @ that point & a real challenger for the Roadies would have added some interest.
  10. WWF @ Anaheim, CA - Arrowhead Pond - March 12, 1995 (7,000) (Source history of the WWE) Kwang v Gary Key Hakushi v the 1-2-3 Kid WWF Women's Champion Bull Nakano v Alundra Blayze Bob Backlund v Bob HollyWWF World Champion Diesel & Razor Ramon v Shawn Michaels & WWF IC Champion Jeff Jarrett Jacob & Eli Blu v the New Headshrinkers The Undertaker v Bam Bam Bigelow Bret Hart v Owen Hart (NHB Match) This wasn't my first card but probably one of my favorites, I was a huge Hakushi fan & was pumped to see the Harts in a NHB match.
  11. I started watching IWA-Mid South in the spring of 04 & loved it. I was never a big ROH fan but IWA-MS was right up my alley. It kind of reminded me of ECW @ it's best in that it had something for everyone but @ the same time the announcing was totally off the wall which I loved. off the top of my head I would go w/ Chris Hero vs Bryan Danielson from Hero meets Dragon Nigel McGuinness vs Delirious from April Bloodshowers 04 Chris Hero vs CM Punk from One more Time 04 CM Punk, Ace Steel, Danny Daniels & Matt Sydal vs Chris Candido, Claudio Castagnoli, Nigel McGuinness & Steve Stone from Rev Strong Style 04 I enjoyed the entire Rev Strong Stlye card as well as the bulk of the Nigel, Chad & Hero matches from that peroid so I may not be a reliable source. Granted I haven't seen any of it in about 5 years so who knows if it holds up. Plus all of the already mention matches & cards
  12. I remember reading about the baby blue trunk situation in the pure dynamite book but I believe it was only a curse if you are a face which Muraco was (previously stated) Bravo wore baby blue for a long peroid as a heel, he never did much but he was around forever. Off the top of my head I can't think of anyone other than Muraco, Martel & Bravo wearing baby blue but I am sure I am wrong.
  13. Pretty good episode, nothing important but some decent action PTW 02/12/90 Earthquake vs. Mark Young WWF Update: They Announce That Hulk Hogan Will Fight The Ultimate Warrior At WrestleMania 6.
