  2. It looks like Rock bringing back blood and swearing has opened the door for the rest of the roster to push the envelope rather than being a special dispensation for him alone.

  4. Appalling people doing appalling things, the news of Vince and his legal team being in regular contact with Donald Trump, with maybe the hope of everything being dropped if (when ? gawd....) the white supremacist-rapist gets elected is certainly something. Also, Linda is still in the Trump game. What a family. But of course this has nothing to do with WWE anymore. Even though the son-in-law is at the head of creative. And Minion #1 is still employed. And the daughter was at Mania. And TKO celebrates Trump everytime he shows his ugly fascistoïd mug at an UFC event.
  5. I swear I must have been the only person on the planet that liked Xia Li. I feel like they could have done more with her.
  6. Interesting that basically 4 of the released people are "localisation" workers. Jinder Mahal received one of the most ridiculously forced push in the company ever only because they wanted to conquer the India market (with a Canadian, mind you), Veer & Sanga were part of the Indian crew too. Xia Li was really pushed as a way to get into the Chinese market (what did she ever do ?). They also got rid of Mansoor a few years back. I wonder if they have just reached the point of giving up with this kind of approach, which really did not had any effect at all apparently. And really, unless you're pushed as a star, having an undercard guy from a specific country is not gonna change anything in the grand scheme of things. Well, Jinder was pushed as a star. He also fucking sucked. Also, remember the exchange with Coach TK a few months back ? Not that he had any chance landing a spot over there anyway based on talent, but yeah, karma is a bitch, uh. I could see him headlining against EC3 though in a "syringe on a pole" match. EDIT : I did not even realize the fifth guy was Australian. And that he's Harley Cameron's husband. And that they are married, so they basically have the SAME NAME (Daniel & Danielle, which in French is pronounced exactly the same). Crazy, that.

Finally a reason to get on Twitter! Which is the match?
  8. Correction, the video doesn't show Coleman vs Oki but Londos vs Oki. The footage shown is from this match: The "Coleman vs Oki" part in the title of the thread should be removed. As far as the clip goes, this is pretty much the standard stuff you see in a short Jim Londos clip, you get some nice grappling and the finishing sequence with the highspots. This clip features the first documented footage of a Dropkick in pro-wrestling, and Coleman hits it nicely, with more focus on the impact than the form as you'd expect for the time. Very good narration of the action too.
  9. Transmitted 11th March 1979, filmed 5 months earlier:
  10. at the very least I would imagine he's become very good at building mental barriers on things like this just out of survival.

  15. The Kevin line that stuck with me was when he admitted that he had heard Adams stories but was shocked and disgusted hearing them back to back. Kevin seems like a decent guy but either had blinders on or was willfully ignorant of things that were happening around him, including his own family.
  16. Indus Sher (Veer and Sanga) have been added to the releases as well.
  17. Another good trio, even if not a great one. It took a bit for the Dandy vs. Satanico violence to really get its spotlight. Prior to that, there were more moments in this one compared to 11/16/90 where it felt like people were moving around with less purpose (think a Royal Rumble with 13 guys biding time…but not THAT bad). I obviously have to highlight Dandy vs. Satanico itself, and Chicana’s selling again, though. Endless love for those three. They call back to the liar low blow of the super libre match, and milk it even more with Ulises giving Satanico stretch exercises, which was entertaining. Dandy comes over and legitimately headbutts Satanico in the balls for a big pop. These moments were cool, but I think it might juuuust be a bit late in the feud to do that instead of focusing all on violence. At least that’s how I feel coming off the pure venom from the 11/16/90 trio. Might have all been worth it to see Satanico sell it in post, though. I’m about convinced he is the best worker of 1990 by now. I could barely even tell what the finish of this was, I think overall the booking hurt this for no reason this close to the hair match.
  18. Awesome mix of chaotic all-over-the-place brawling, and then a fairly traditional trio, then even more chaotic all-over-the-place brawling. Satanico and Dandy are obviously at each others’ throats for a lot of it and you can guess what I thought of that. Some of their exchanges were actually even more intense and violent than in the October super libre match, which makes me giddy as a child on eight kilograms of ice cream for their hair match. Sangre Chicana was so fucking good. Smooth as silk on some cool, bizarre Lucha offense and an absolutely all time great seller. Mendoza kicking Blondy’s ass was a lot of fun. Blondy didn’t strike me as a very good worker with fundamentals, but had a strong personality, and when stooging he felt a bit like the EMLL answer to Bobby Heenan (though nowhere near the bumper Heenan was). Unfortunately, I was a little deflated by the end of this. The violence between Dandy and Satanico was incredible to the point where I was thinking I would rank it ahead of the super libre match, but then it just kind of ends with Blondy of all people getting his hand raised. With a heavy third fall thrown in I may have called this a MOTYC. As it is though, still a heavy hitter and a fantastic continuation of maybe the two best wrestlers in the world at the time chewing at each others’ bloody foreheads. I could watch it again right now and enjoy it just as much.
  19. Satanico turned on Dandy about a month earlier and is largely the actual rudo rudo of the two here, with Dandy from what I can tell even being announced as “rudo tecnico.” And they apparently don’t piss about with a basic singles match leading up to this and go right into the heated forehead biting. I’ve always been under the impression that “super libre” just meant “no dq,” so I’m not sure how the ref cared about a low blow to end the first fall (even if it wasn’t real and Satanico was a liar), but it was amusing either way. The second fall had an even more bizarre ending but watching the ref flail after getting hit in the face like that, again, amusing. You know I always assumed Dandy would remain my 1990 WOTY but Satanico felt like the stand out between the two here. Super vicious in throwing his offense, and makes even the most basic of moves look like they have the malice of the actual Satan behind them. The vq is bad and all but I can just see the guy grimacing on everything like he’s an aging gangster rubbing a cigarette in a guy’s face. I mean it takes a special kind of wrestling sadist to think of ripping armpit hair out during an armbar. Not to mention this bit - when Satanico starts bleeding in the first fall, he only recognises it when he wipes his forehead and checks his hand, and once he realises it, sprints for Dandy and starts chewing the forehead. One of the best damn things I think I’ve ever seen in a match. I obviously have praise for Dandy too, as all of that Satanico viciousness had to be for a reason, and the match was gradually Dandy being built up as a more sympathetic tecnico despite his own remaining viciousness. I’ve already rattled on about him being a great seller while talking other matches. Serious contender for top ten match of 1990, and I am damn hyped to see that hair match again.
  20. "That Indian Guy" being released sucks, especially after he held his own (and IMO surpassed) The Rock a few months ago on the mic. Hopefully there are no other releases besides those three.
  21. WWE have released Jinder Mahal, Xia Li, and NXT's Xyon Quinn. Jinder tweeted that he quit and will be a free agent in 90 days.
  22. Great crowd reactions for Solo tonight, getting Dominik-level heel heat.
  23. Well, Vinnie and co were technically right in their prediction. Vader showing the AWA why he is The Man. Hansen wins the battle of the cowboys. Good idea preserving Nikita and Sarge. The Hulkster gets his first big win. The Bullet and the Superstar stand tall. Jumbo gets to take the world title home to Japan next month.
  24. Really loved the Crockett Cup. I must say you gave your Road Warriors one hell of a tough draw. They had to face both the Powers of Pain and Demolition. WOW. Loved that the Midnight Express came out on top. I think the Horsemen coming home to NWA and going down in defeat would have been a huge win for the fans! Nice booking. Garvin vs Slater would have been a great brawl. Dr. Tom gave a great effort. I think you can make the Fuller's HUGE HEELS which would be fun. Quote of the Night was The Olympians being surprised that the NWA would allow CHEATERS into their tournament. Priceless!!! Great job with this years cup. These are always great events as it allows all of us to see what others think of our guys.
  25. Don't sleep on Fuminori Abe vs. Yu Iizuka. Iizuka can be a little rough around the edges, but he's one of the better UWF-style workers GLEAT has. I'd recommend checking out his match with Takuya Nomura to get a taste of what he's capable of.
  26. Again, I seem to keep falling behind here and I am sorry about that. I enjoyed all of the previews Champagne Slam as each feud was well built up. I like the idea of all the different groups tagging together in these elimination style matches. It allows you keep angles moving on or ending them if you wish. I loved the clean sweep for the fan favorites in the first bout. This sets the tone for the audience and gets them excited right away. Way to build up Vader in his bout. As the last man standing, he is off to a great start to be the big monster in the AWA! I had a feeling Hansen was going to win but wasn't sure. This was one of those matches of two legends and I would expect Dory to see the big picture here and would not be upset by Hansen going over. With Hansen, Vader, Hogan and some other big time names, AWA has main events for the next year lined up if you like. Nikita brawling with Sarge for the Double CO was smart. The fans got to see what they wanted and the angle stays white hot. Really smart. Hogan vs Bam Bam before the intermission... reminded me of some old Madison Square Garden and WWF events. I love this form of booking as it gives the fans a chance to recharge after the big one! I had a feeling Hogan was going over but you gave him some big time credibility with this one. I really like that the AWA has a place for some of the older guys like Armstrong and Dundee. AWA has gone World Wide but still understands some of its smaller markets and its original ties to places like Memphis and Canada. Jumbo vs El Canek... again, had a feeling the champ would come out on top but you have done so much with El Canek that I just wasn't sure. Great title match. Really enjoyed Champagne Slam.... Thanks for all you put into this one. It was a great read.
