  2. Speaking of, Meltz rated Jericho-HOOK 3.25 stars LMAO
  3. I know you despise him, but Meltzer analysed the numbers and actually said the opposite: that the lack of MJF is hurting the company's business on all fronts
  4. Today
  5. Pat Patterson vs. Ken Patera (WWF, 4/21/80) Well, I thoroughly enjoyed this. Is this the first great Intercontinental Title match in WWF history? Granted, it was a lot better when Patterson was on top as opposed to the brief moments where Patera was in charge, but that's okay. Patera was an excellent bumping stooge for a guy his size and Patterson was an amazing offense seller for a guy who had an incredibly limited repertoire. Patera's win was cheap, but I suspect that was part of the strategy. He could have easily controlled long portions of the match if they'd wanted him to look like a killer.

  7. The Dangerous Alliance is on the rise in the WWF and seem to be unstoppable. The Rockers are still on a roll as well. Big Bossman vs Randy Savage is going to be quite a match.
  8. Sting and Sid looked impressive tonight, but it was Luger who stole headlines towards the end. Very enjoyable show overall, Ric Flair and the Horsemen still seem to be the top dogs.
  9. Kudos to Rich Eisen for keeping full kayfabe, mentioning that Tony Khan is the first NFL exec to do the draft one day after getting piledriven. AEW and Jack Perry were actually mentioned by name on NFL Network draft coverage. Of course, with ESPN's coverage, the Jags' war room was the only one they didn't show.
  10. TK showing up to the NFL Draft with a neck brace is Actually Cool.
  11. Okay Kevin, can you not drop those 5 for me then?
  12. In return for Kerry VonErich, WCW sends Terry Funk to the WWF
  13. So I can have 60 wrestlers and 5 managers for 65 total? I've been confused on this If it is 60 + 5 I won't drop Bob Holly Savio Vega Vampire Warrior Henry O Godwin Phineas Godwin

  16. That's one of the great things about this era, New York and Philly each have their own flavor. Dick and Kal, plus the camera work, which employed more close ups and ringside filming, gave the Spectrum shows a different vibe. MSG just feels important, like a game at Yankee Stadium. Vince solo isn't always great here, especially in the 70s, when he would just not talk for several minutes at a time. I think his best work from this time is actually his selling of big angles on the weekly TV. Another plus is you often get slightly different matchups at each arena, like the great Larry Z vs Putski feud in Philly
  17. Keita Yano It had to happen at some point! Insanely innovative with his unique blend of IIave/shoot-style, Keita Yano has pushed the envelope of what constitutes a wrestling match for about a decade+ at this point. He's had NWA-style 60 minute features, battles in garages and local gyms, fought on playmats for an audience of a couple dozen at best, wrestled every single major Japanese indie name you can probably list off using Google and then some, in doing so got the attention of even legends like Tenryu who have made him mainstays of his promotion to this very day. What really gets the guy over is not just his sheer versatility; it's his ability to make any format of match seem impressive quality-wise. Even when he has to do more sanitized conventional "epic" main event outings he clearly proves that being in a actual wrestling ring doesn't hurt his quality one bit. It's the truly weird stuff that really consolidates his GWE case though, and it really helps that even with all of my extensive footage watching of the guy I still don't think everything's been covered yet. Vs Fujita Hayato (Battlarts 06.08.2008) Vs GENTARO (Apache Pro 04.17.2009) Vs Fugo Fugo Yumeji (EXIT 11.28.2010) Vs Taro Yamada (Wallabee Pro 6.14.2012) Vs Manabu Hara (Wallabee Pro 07.28.2013) Vs Iori Sugawara (Taiheiyo Pro 02.16.2014) Vs 326 (Taihieiyo Pro 11.30.2014) Vs Taro Yamada (Kani KING 01.25.2015) Vs Hideaki Sumi (Wallabee Pro 11.29.2015) Vs Great Zako (Unemployment 10.21.2018) Hikaru Sato trilogy (Tenryu Project 13/08/2021/09.19.2022/11.13.2022)
  18. Pat Patterson vs. Sgt. Slaughter (WWF, 4/6/81) Here's another Patterson/Slaughter match I didn't know existed prior to the Alley Fight. This has some really good brawling in it. I'm not really a Patterson guy but he was fantastic in this. He went after Slaughter like a man possessed and manhandled the ref as well. There was a great shot of a woman cheering Pat on during the figure four spot. The Cobra Clutch sequence wasn't as good as the Philly bout, but chalk this up as another bout I prefer to the Alley Fight. I really think they missed a trick not using some of these spots in the Alley Fight. Incidentally, I used to think the MSG matches were the pinnacle of this era of WWF and that Philly was the leftovers. I was hugely impressed by solo Vince the first time I heard him commentate late 70s matches. However, I'm starting to enjoy Dick & Kal a hell of a lot more than solo Vince. During the bout, I kept wondering how Kal would react to the action. We talk about stock rising and falling... Kal Rudman may end up being the biggest mover once it's all said and done.
  19. Yeah, they confirmed it. I hope there's more to that segment that just a happy coronation speech. Something has to happen to make it worth it.
  20. It's apparently Swerve's championship speech. That's why he didn't give one on Dynamite.
  21. Well, Collision will have its largest audience for their first segment (it airs after Heat vs Celtics) so if they wanna make this angle worth a damn, they better come up with a killer opening angle and not a random opening match.
  22. Once Danielson officially wraps it up as a full-time wrestler, he'd be the perfect choice to serve as a troubleshooting commissioner type who maintains law and order and occasionally steps in the ring to put the heels in their place when they get too far out of line. I'd be much more interested in that than an increasingly self-indulgent dream match retirement tour.
  23. He most definitely won't have the time, but Shahid Khan def has the aura and the presence to be the badasss babyface owner/promoter who shows up once in a while to make sure things don't get out of hand too much, like Bil Watts in Mid-South or even Gorilla Monsoon in the 90s in WWF. He would serve the role far better than any on-screen version of Tony. I cannot imagine Shahid Khan ever in his life stating that he feared for his life because of another person. This is most definitely projection, but as I said, watching him reminded me of the many badass desi uncles I know, who look like him and also have that aura. Hey, in fact, his schedule might mean he only shows up like 5 times a year at most, which really is the most number you want to see an authority figure on screen.
  24. He showed a lot of restraint, I'll be very honest. Between the tweets and his eventual on-screen appearances, it always felt like he wanted to be part of angles, so finally doing so on Year 6 is a feat.
  25. Tony Khan as an on-air character was inevitable. Shame.
