Last couple of minutes. The Rock & Rolls win the match and the tag titles, making four title changes in four days.

A clever twist on the ether finish but I'm still not crazy about all these screwy interference-laden finishes, particularly in a barbed wire cage where Cornette really shouldn't be involved at all. One of the biggest creative flaws Cornette had in SMW was his propensity to kill off pretty much every gimmick or stipulation match he booked.

More a fence with barbed wire than a cage. Pritchard powders Gibson allowing Morton to take a 2 on 1 before the save. Bodies look to use an ether towel, but Morton kicks it away and gets a roll up to win the titles again.

Prichard powders Gibson and the Bodies double team Morton. Gibson eventually gets his bearings back then gets hold of a chain and starts to unload on Prichard. Cornette throws an ether soaked towel into the cage to Lane but Morton kicks it out of his hands. The towel ends on Stanfield's head and Morton rolls him up for the pin whilst Gibson sprays the ether at Prichard for the fourth title change in four days.

 

We only got a few minutes of this but it seemed a bit of a let down after the street fight.

I would have liked it better if Morton had put Lane out with the ether before pinning him instead of just doing a rollup like he could in any other match. I don't even think the rag stayed on Lane's head during the pin, which kind of makes the whole thing pointless.

 

I hate to harp on this, but when it comes to SMW you have to put everything you know about managers getting physically involved out of your mind and accept the fact that at the end of the day, the only one Corny trusted to take (and in some cases, give) the major beatdowns was himself, because unlike all of the other talent, he knew he would always be there. There's no such thing as "shouldn't be involved", and that goes for all sorts of interference too. It may have looked ludicrous at times, but at least whatever job needed doing got done the way Corny wanted it done.
