Cornette is in workout mode.

"Brother, I am stocking up on those carbohydrates."

He tries to rip a phone book to show his strength to disastrous results.

Later in the show, the Rock & Rolls are out for a promo and Cornette comes out and gets in the ring and challenges Ricky Morton to a fight! It's all a distraction to beat up Morton and Gibson and Cornette ends up socking Morton with his towel, which has a soda can inside. Cornette has a funny response about Ricky Morton having a coke problem.

All of this leads to an impromptu match, and the show goes off the air before the finish, but we get the rest of the match anyway, and there's loose involvement from the Stud Stable. Fun all around.

Cornette is on a heavy diet of Twinkies, chocolate covered pretzels, and carbohydrates. Joe Weider wants him on the cover of Muscle Mag! And to prove his newfound athletic prowess, he displays a phonebook for Campell County, Kentucky which is about the size of a magazine. Cornette settles for ripping the corner of one page out in lieu of tearing it in half. Prichard: "That ICOPRO is dynamite!" So is this segment. Cornette can take the corniest, most rehashed scenario and make it entertaining as hell.

The Rock 'n Rolls are out for an interview, and Cornette goads them into the ring--"I'll hit you so hard, your grandkids will be dizzy!" Morton takes the obvious bait and leaves Gibson to get jumped on the outside by the Heavenly Bodies. As Morton turns around, Cornette decks him with his towel and produces a full Coke can inside. Lane and Cornette gloat, with Lane pointing out that Cornette has gone from 100 to 2,000 push-ups a day and has moved on from beating up kids and fat old ladies to both R'nRs at the same time. Ricky & Robert are back out after this, and an impromptu tag is on.

Good but sort of routine tag action follows, until the Stud Stable come to the ring as the match breaks down, and toss the tennis racket in, only for Lane to get sunset flipped and pinned. Further dissension between the heels.

This was a total blast, from start to finish and all points in-between. So many great quotes, a hot angle, and a solid match with an unexpectedly clean finish. The 9-man three-way brawl that this is leading up to was something I first saw at a get-together in 1995 and it was the most mind-blowing fight I'd ever seen to that point. Something I really can't wait to revisit in 1993.

Cornette tries to rip a phone book before the match, but only ends up ripping a few pages out of it. This leads us into a 3 vs. 2 matches at Christmas Chaos. Then we get a a RNR promo, Cornette draws them into the ring where the Bodies come out and attack them with a Coke can and the racket. Good promo from Cornette & Bodies afterwards, but RNR are back to counter them. Finally we get to the match. Seamless editing by the yearbook producers on this one as one week's show ends and presumably the next begins without any real jump. Morton quickly goes into FIP mode, which is always a good thing. RNR get the pin when Studd Stable come out and their distraction of the Bodies backfires.

Okay now I know its just me as Cornette at this point is batting a lot closer to .500 than a 1.000, and while this was fine, I really prefer it when the RNR and Studds are involved rather than just a Corny promo. That aside, I like where the storylines are headed here and with Smothers coming into the territory.

Cornette is in his workout gear and Stan tells everyone to feast their eyes on the best conditioned, most finely tuned athlete in the world (just as Jim starts coughing). Cora Evans from Bodyshaping is writing him love letters, while Joe Weider wants him on the cover of Muscle Mag next week! Cornette does some shadow boxing and appears to be tiring himself out in the process. He says that he is going to be training until Christmas Chaos comes around, is on a diet of Twinkies white chocolate covered fudge Oreos and is stocking up on carbohydrates! He attempts to tear a phone book in half, struggles, so rips a few pages out and claims he’s done it. He then tells the Rock & Roll Express that they won’t know what’s hit them. The Rock & Rolls respond and Morton tells Cornette that the worst mistake he’ll ever make is stepping in the ring with them. Cornette then comes out to the ring and challenges Morton saying that he is in the best shape of his life and he’ll hit him so hard his grandkids will be dizzy. Morton accepts but it is all a plan as the Heavenly Bodies jump Robert Gibson, and with his back turned, Cornette clocks Morton with a coke can that’s been wrapped in his towel. Cornette says that he’s heard of athletes having a problem with coke in the past, but Morton has got rocks in his head He claims again that he is in the best shape of his life, has just beat up both of the Rock & Rolls by himself and is afraid he’s going to kill someone with his bare hands he’s that tough! Stan says that he’s so proud of Cornette and in one month he’s gone from 150 pushups to 2,000! Cornette demonstrates by doing women’s pushups, he sees the Rock & Roll Express coming, ups and flees and they attack the Bodies which leads to an impromptu match between the teams. The match is shown in its completion on the following week's TV episode (as it finished with it still in progress on the week of the 19th). The match itself was nothing special but stoked the fire for the three team feud. The finish comes when Robert Gibson decks Cornette and the Stud Stable come out to check on him. They throw his tennis racket in the ring for the Bodies to use but as Tom Prichard is picking it up, Gibson hits him with a sunset flip for the pin.

I loved this setup. Corny's on fire, scoring with line after line, and Stan finally pulls his weight, talking up Corny's "physical fitness" hilariously. Of course, nothing can top the man himself, with his diet of Twinkies and chocolate-covered fudge Oreos (no doubt washed down with Sprite). Dr. Tom takes the cake, though, with "IcoPro is dynamite!" Was Corny thinking of an alliance with Vince this soon, or was this just a throwaway line?

Stupidity, they name is Ricky Morton. Come on, Ricky, after eight years you can't tell when Corny's setting you up? You mean to tell me you didn't see that towel he was carrying? If you did, what did you think was in it, chopsticks? I hate angles where faces have to be so obviously stupid in order for them to work. Why should I as a fan cheer for someone who's so easily taken advantage of? Wouldn't I be better off cheering for the ones who took advantage, even if they are sleazebags?

I forgot to talk about Corny tearing up the telephone book. I get what they were going for, but there really is a trick to it from what I've heard, and it's not necessarily as easy as it looks. even for really strong people. Of course, we didn't need to know that for the purposes of this angle.

The match was pretty good for something that was supposedly unscheduled; it started out a hot brawl and cooled down into a regular match, which for these teams is still great. The finish was sort of new for this type of angle, in that while Corny's racquet came into play, it wasn't used as a weapon as it usually is in these types of situations. You still have the question of what Fuller and Golden really meant to do, but there hasn't been any bloodshed, accidental or otherwise, between the two teams, so no one's clearly right or wrong. I'm sure we'll hear more about this situation in the new year.

Kyle doesn't get involved as often as Bossman used to when he was Corny's bodyguard. In fact, this may be the first time I've seen him up on the apron during a match.

Dutch was great here; he put both teams over as legitimately tough and skilled, but still came across as rooting against Ricky and Robert, which is what you expect from a friend of the Studs. At this point, Rock 'n' Roll losing the belts is the goal of both the Studs and the Bodies, regardless of which team actually wins them, but you know that won't last for long.
