Eddie Gilbert interrupts the local DJ and his bikini-clad women and starts plugging his appearances at Hot Stuff Toyota by the airport. Funny. Gilbert is upset because he was promised if he won the battle royal that he would get a new Toyota and he didn't get it. He claims Jerry Lawler stole his car, and says he's looking forward to the Eddie Gilbert Fan Club writing nice things about him on his car. He closes out by hyping the Coal Miner's Glove match. This is more lighthearted than normal, but I liked it.

Funny stuff. I like Gilbert being upset over getting a clunker car and then getting equally upset about Lawler stealing it.

Gilbert thought he should have won a brand new car for winning the battle royal. Now, he wants the car he did win back. But it is over at the airport so he wants all his fans to go there to spray paint nice things about him. Something interactive for the fans to be involved in.

Those ring girls might not have been to Airport Toyota but something makes me think they work at certain establishments near an airport. I'll bet each one of them left some stink on Lawler's rosey royal fingers.

 

The long-haired guy is that bitchy little smarky fucker that did the MCW TV show whose name escapes me.

I agree that this is a little bit lighter than what you'd expect after what's gone down between Lawler and Gilbert recently, but I think they needed to give the fans a bit of a break while still advancing the storyline to the best of their ability. Nice answer by Eddie, encouraging the members of his fan club to spraypaint nice things about him on the car. I also liked him encouraging the ring girls to stay out at the desk during his interview.

 

I liked the DJ's line about Gilbert needing the last rites after the coal miner's glove match with Lawler at the Catholic high school. That's a tad more clever than we usually get when it comes to cameos like this.

 

I've never even seen the original Sam Bass, and I still know that Sam Lowe is a pale imitation. It fits the storyline, but it also smacks of exploiting the dead.

Eddie Gilbert and Sam Lowe are out and Eddie’s a bit perturbed! He’s got Jerry Lawler up for grand larceny, and by the time he finished with Airport Toyota he’ll own it! Gilbert is convinced that Dave Brown said the winner of the Battle Royale got a brand new Toyota, but Dave tells him he said ‘a chance to win a brand new Toyota…check the tape!’ He didn’t get the Toyota though, he got some clunker that wasn’t even worth driving. He went back to the dressing room, had a think about things and thought he’d give the car away, only to find out that Jerry Lawler has stolen it and taken it to his good friends at Airport Toyota and he’s going to let people spray paint his car! He’s sure that the ‘Hot Stuff’ Eddie Gilbert fan club here in Memphis will go out and write great things about him on it, and he’s looking forward to seeing it when it’s over and they bring his car back to him. He then tells Lawler that after the ‘Coal Miner’s Glove match’ this Thursday night at the Catholic School Gym, he won’t have to worry about the Unified World Title tournament.

 

Airport Toyota must’ve paid the USWA a fair sum for the amount of plugging they’ve been getting in these past few segments. I really liked Gilbert’s change of tack here when he found out that his car had been taken. A different, almost light hearted, change of pace from ‘Hot Stuff’ (the Eddie Gilbert fan club for starters!) but I enjoyed this nonetheless.

Eddie shows a little bit of range in this, which I like. It still seems like a very Eddie Gilbert thing to bitch and moan about the car you won, then turn around and complain about it being stolen.
