NWO 2000

I am a HUGE mark for anything NWO, I will say that from the start...

Do you think the NWO 2000 version could have worked with just Hart / Steiner / Nash / Hall / Jarrett if Bret doesnt get hurt at Starrcade and then forced to quit after being in out of ring angles, followed by Goldberg ripping his arm apart on the limo, followed by Jarrett and Hall both getting injured, derailing things into the mess it became...

When the last NWO formed, I thought it was great, it was just them and they even said they were just the best, no one else was coming...the night they formed, Nash's mic is broken which sucks as his comments could have been good. Thunder was good too with Bret being that asshole heel again....

I think it could have been their last shot with Goldberg going through the NWO on his way to Bret...Toss in Sid to the mix and you have two good babyfaces that eventually could have feuded (again I know, but it would later)...

Then later in the year, Steiner can be moved up to the Main Event position as well, and Goldberg / Steiner feud could happen, which was fuckin awesome the way it did happen!

Benoit / Eddy / Perry / Dean would still be gone as Sullivan would be booking...but if you could add them in and get rid of Sullivan instead...2000 could have been great....it really shows how shitty the management was of that place...

In reality, even if no one gets hurt, they'd fuck it up!

Thoughts?

I would have liked the group a lot on paper without Jarret, but that's not what WCW was at that point. If you had built up Hart/Hall/Nash/Steiner against Goldberg/Sting/Booker T/It really doesn't matter who, then you might have had something.

Hall's personal problems and WCW being stupid would have probably destroyed the whole thing anyway. And Jarrett, I really don't hate the guy, but he's not a franchise kind of wrestler and trying to fantasy book around him is really hard sometimes.

No, no group that has Jeff Jarrett leading it in that era had a chance of success.

Jarrett wasnt leading it per say at the beginning, Hart and Nash really were...Jarrett was really there for the upper midcard...and being the piece of shit character he was, he was a good fit to stay there in that position...what they did in moving him to the main event level was due a lot to the injuries that happened...otherwise he stays in US Title scene for a while I'd think....

What was Jeff Jarrett's motivation for hating WCW? I got the others, even though they never really fleshed it out and explained it as much as they should have, but the storyline for NWO2K looked to be just to fool everyone. That seemed to be the extent of the story.

I dont think this version of the NWO was meant to be the "We are closing WCW down" type the original was..this was more a heel stable of the "best of the best" as they put it and they were going to protect themselves and their titles and take out anyone else.....More of a Horsemen type than 96 NWO..

And no I am in no way comparing them to the Horsemen in terms of worth, skills, or anything else.....its not even a conversation....but it is a the closest comparison I'd make in terms of what they were trying to be to me.

Its the first thing I'd like to completely rebook starting the night Goldberg ended up destryoing his arm and nearly bleeding to death......just never sat down and started to flesh it out....maybe I shall.....I have no idea why, but anything NWO I love (hence the Atari NWO game Avatar)...even the B-Team in '99....loved that shit...call it my guilty pleasure.

I am thinking this is more along the lines of, any heel group in WCW post-1996 that has Kevin Nash and Scott Hall almost has to be called the nWo.

True say. It's like all the pale imitations of a Flair stable in the 90's still had to be called the Horsemen.

I think NWO2k could have worked minus all the injuries. a Hart-led group with Hall and Nash playing lieutenants and Jarrett and Steiner in supporting roles has the potential to be a very effective group.

People who are saying that it would have been a Jarrett-led group are mis-remembering. The only reason it became a Jarrett-led group with The Harris Boys as his backup was because pretty much everyone dropped to injuries or other problems.

The problem with them being a Horsemen like group is that they shouldn't have called themselves the nWo then. If they weren't trying to take over the company, they aren't really the nWo. It was horrible in thought and execution.

Eh, using that name was helpful as it had that "name value" to go with it..Kind of like some of the later Horsemen groups...Flair and AA were there, so they were the Horsemen....but were they really the "horsemen" from when it meant something special? Not to me...
