Robert Fuller

If this was based simply on character and promo skills Fuller would be a high-end lock. I've seen his work in the 90s and it always seemed stifled or short. Was he even better than his tag partner, Jimmy Golden? Based on that footage, probably not. Like a lot of guys from his era and region there is a major footage issue. If the matches from 74 with Lawler are an indication of what he was like then we might be missing out on one of the greats. He takes a beating and sells as well as anyone. His shots aren't the best but his timing, fire and grittiness are up there. Its worth noting that these matches took place only 4 years into his career. Sort of wish he had a late career wrestling run in a major promotion like his partner in crime, Jimmy Golden.

I feel like we might have enough footage from the different periods of Robert Fuller's career to make the Bockwinkel assumption and just assume he was good during the years we don't have on tape. The thought of a 20 year career of him working well throughout it makes him feel like a guy who really got lowballed in this project.

The difference is that we have lots of long main event matches with Bock from arenas that we don't have with Robert Fuller. The vast majority of what's out there for Robert is shorter TV matches. If we had arena footage from Southeastern I think it would be a huge boost to Robert and a lot of other guys like Jerry Stubbs, Bob Armstrong, Jimmy Golden, The Nightmares etc etc. but the best thing we have is the 85-86 Continental TV when they were putting a lot of good matches on TV.

Another thing about Robert that limits the amount of footage he has is that he would take a lot of time off. From shoot interviews of his it seems like he and Ron would take turns booking and if it wasn't his turn then he would just take time off to drink beer and work on his tan.
